Chapter 219 – Edge of the Wind, Falling Sun Kill
Staring at the nine massive wind pillars, Yun Shan's expression grew more serious. Deep cyan Dou Qi shimmered faintly in his palms.
The next moment, his hands flashed with seals, and he shouted:
"Four-Wind Wall!"
As his cry rang out, four deep cyan walls of wind appeared out of thin air, surrounding and containing Xiao Yuan's nine wind pillars.
However, Xiao Yuan had clearly anticipated this.
Calm and composed, he changed his hand seals.
Zzt!
Green lightning and pale brown flames burst from within the wind pillars, dyeing them with a new hue. Under the assault of thunder and fire, their destructive force soared, shredding Yun Shan's wind barriers to pieces.
Taken by surprise, Yun Shan was struck by all nine wind pillars—lightning and fire exploding on contact!
"Master!"
Yun Yun's heart clenched. She had been worried Xiao Yuan would be overwhelmed, but now… she was the one concerned for her teacher.
If Xiao Yuan actually kills Master... then what do we do?
She shook off the thought, but deep down, she knew—even with the gratitude she held for Yun Shan's years of guidance, his current actions were undeniably wrong. And as his disciple, there were limits to what she could say… or do.
Xiao Yuan probably understood this, which was why he had chosen to be the "villain" on her behalf.
Still… he was already engaged to Yafei of the Miteer Clan. So what did she count for?
And Yun Shan… he had changed so much. The kind, proud mentor of old would never have been so quick to kill, never provoked a promising young enemy just because of pride.
Yun Yun's thoughts drifted.
While she was lost in them, the wind pillars slowly dispersed, revealing a disheveled Yun Shan, clothes torn and his body slightly charred and bruised.
While not a serious injury, it was a monumental humiliation.
"You little bastard, today I will kill you!"
His face darkened, and Yun Shan's killing intent could no longer be hidden.
"Oh? My hair's out of place—give me a second."
Xiao Yuan replied sincerely, tucking a loose strand of hair behind his ear.
Zzt!
Yun Shan, seething, suddenly appeared behind Xiao Yuan, Dou Qi gathered in his palm. The energy was so dense, space itself began to ripple.
Boom!
His strike was lightning-fast—piercing directly through Xiao Yuan's chest!
Gasps echoed across the plaza. Yun Yun's heart stopped.
But the next instant, Yun Shan's palm passed through a dissolving afterimage.
From behind, Xiao Yuan's real body flared to life—wings of violet-blue light burst forth, propelling him forward as he slammed a flame-coated kick into Yun Shan's back.
Though Yun Shan reacted fast and gathered Dou Qi to shield himself, Xiao Yuan's leg was wreathed in pale brown flame, the air itself warped by its terrifying heat.
Spurt!
Yun Shan was hit head-on. The sheer force shattered his defense, and he spat blood as he was sent flying.
"Such terrifying speed!"
Jia Xing Tian broke into a cold sweat. Even he couldn't have reacted in time. If Xiao Yuan had attacked him like that, he'd have been crushed!
He glanced at Nalan Jie, the once-proud Lionheart Marshal, who now looked completely stunned. The regret on his face could've filled a canyon.
Once engaged to his granddaughter Nalan Yanran… and now with Miteer Yafei? Hai Bodong's judgment was sharper than ever. The Miteer Clan had secured a brilliant future.
And as for Yun Yun… well, there might still be room there too?
Boom!
A sudden explosion of energy snapped everyone back to reality.
Yun Shan's face twisted with rage. Raising a withered hand toward Xiao Yuan, he gathered deep cyan Dou Qi in his palm.
"A… tiered Earth-level technique?!"
Guests familiar with Yun Shan's abilities were stunned. This was serious.
Yun Shan had once used this technique to shred a fellow Dou Zong of the Chu Yun Empire into bloody mist.
"Great Sorrow Wind Tear Palm!"
With killing intent flaring in his eyes, Yun Shan roared.
A massive energy hand several meters wide materialized, crashing down toward Xiao Yuan like a storm.
Facing the overwhelming pressure, Xiao Yuan closed his eyes. His black hair floated despite no wind, and though his Dou Qi wings remained still, he began to rise.
Energy surged around him like boiling water. Ripples of pale green light radiated from his body.
Raising his green longsword, he let it hum at full extension. Suddenly, sunlight from the sky above gathered on the blade—so intense, it eclipsed the sun itself.
His Dou Qi poured into the sword until its green hue deepened, practically glowing with power.
As the massive energy palm approached, Xiao Yuan moved. His longsword pulsed—his attack peaked.
Sunset Falling Slash—The Pinnacle of Wind!
His sword pierced the sky, unleashing a white beam of light.
Wherever it passed, space trembled violently. Yun Shan's pupils shrank.
He mastered this?
Even in Misty Cloud Sect's history, only five—including founder Yun Potian—had ever succeeded in combining Sunset Radiance and Falling Kill into one.
How did this kid find the time to master this while also cultivating such terrifying Dou Qi?
Yun Yun and the elders of Misty Cloud Sect were stunned. All of them had tried to learn Wind's Pinnacle, and they knew how impossibly difficult it was.
"This guy…"
Yun Yun stared, dazed. The young man who once cried out "Sister Yun" in the mountain valley had become the brightest star of the Jia Ma Empire.
Wait… will Teacher survive that?!
Zzt!
The white beam moved almost silently—but with devastating force.
It passed straight through Yun Shan's Great Sorrow Wind Tear Palm, piercing his chest before blasting into the distant ground.
Yun Shan spun mid-air, the force sending him hurtling.
Xiao Yuan watched as the palm approached him. Without panic, he raised his unused left hand.
A sheet of white ice burst forth, freezing the massive energy palm solid.
Gasps rippled through the crowd.
He… just blocked it?
From below, Fa Ma's eyes widened—he had sensed a vast soul presence a moment ago. But… that couldn't have been Xiao Yuan's own!
Boom!
Yun Shan crashed into the ground, leaving spiderweb cracks around him.
Yun Yun started forward—but Xiao Yuan's next words stopped her cold.
"Hmph. Soul Hall rats, always lurking in the sewers."
He flicked a beam of Dou Qi at the main sect hall, instantly reducing it to rubble.
Mist Cloud Sect disciples roared in outrage. Yun Yun, too, was confused. Xiao Yuan wasn't one to lash out blindly.
Could there really be someone from Soul Hall hiding in the sect?
Then—black mist poured from the ruins, condensing in midair into a ten-meter-wide shadow.
Xiao Yuan narrowed his eyes.
Black mist? Trying to look like my Ice Mist? Trash-tier aesthetic.
"Teacher, as expected."
He touched the ring on his hand, speaking to Yao Lao.
Yao Lao had sensed something off earlier and stepped in to deflect Yun Shan's fatal blow. Xiao Yuan had followed up immediately, flushing the Soul Hall rat into the open.
"A Four-Star Dou Zong… go ahead and try him."
Yao Lao chuckled.
Xiao Yuan's face hardened.
Yun Shan was easy. But a Four-Star Dou Zong? That would be another matter.
"What is that thing?"
Disciples below panicked. When had such a creature hidden within their sect?
Even Yun Yun was visibly shaken. That presence… the way it emerged… it could only be evil.
Soul Hall. Just what kind of power is this? When did Teacher get involved with them?
"Wu Protector—kill him!"
Below, Yun Shan spat blood and shouted.
Yun Yun's face paled. Her teacher… had really colluded with such a being?
"Kekeke… Beating Yun Shan with Dou Wang strength? Must've been that soul inside you, right? But how long can you borrow that power?"
Wu Protector's voice was cruel, mocking.
"Idiot."
Xiao Yuan answered simply, oozing disdain.
"Wind and lightning Dou Qi. Heavenly Flame. A soul rivaling a tier-6 alchemist. Capturing you will be a huge reward."
Wu Protector laughed coldly. It chilled the bone.
"You? Capture me?"
Xiao Yuan snorted, forming rapid hand seals. His green Dou Qi began turning black.
Black snow began to fall from the sky.
"Is… Hai Bodong here?"
Jia Xing Tian blinked—then realized the snow was black and looked toward Xiao Yuan.
"He really is Hai Bodong's heir… even his 'go all in' attitude is the same."
As Xiao Yuan summoned the Mystic Ice Dragon Spear, Jia Xing Tian sighed.
"Ice Dou Qi? Now I'm very interested in your cultivation method."
As Wu Protector spoke, the black mist gathered into a humanoid figure, blood-red eyes glowing in the shadows.
