Chapter 28: The Great Soul Arena of Heaven Dou City
After a conversation with Yang Wei, Yang Xiong was slightly hesitant to speak. "Xiao Xiong, how long do you plan to stay in Heaven Dou City? You're still only eleven years old, so you should be careful when you're out there."
Yang Xiong smiled. "Thanks for your concern, Big Brother. I plan to visit the Soul Arena and test my true strength."
Yang Wei's face showed a hint of nostalgia. "I've fought many battles in the Soul Arena. I'm a power-type soul master, and I performed quite well there. Unfortunately, after reaching the rank of Soul Sovereign, I've lost many battles and haven't been back recently."
Yang Wei's martial soul was the Iron Sword, which indeed had some advantages in terms of attack power. However, after reaching Soul Sovereign, he was now at level 31 and had to face opponents who were around level 38 or 39, making it nearly impossible for him to win.
Yang Xiong smiled. "Big Brother, don't worry. I'll be careful. I won't participate in any life-or-death matches. I just want to go to the arena to spar."
Yang Wei nodded. "Xiao Xiong, you've always had your own ideas. But be careful on the stage. Soul skills have no eyes, and people can become reckless during a match. Anything goes in the arena, even using any tools."
"By the way, why don't you stay at Purple Star Academy for these few days? That way we can train and cultivate together."
Yang Xiong smiled. "Big Brother, our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect has many businesses in Heaven Dou City. There are countless hotels. I plan to stay in one for convenience and rest."
Yang Wei rolled his eyes. "I almost forgot. We are inner disciples of the sect. You, little guy, are a core disciple who's being specially nurtured by the sect. Staying in a hotel is no problem. You could even rent a villa in Heaven Dou City if you wanted."
...
After leaving Purple Star Academy, Yang Xiong went to a hotel owned by the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. When the hotel manager saw Yang Xiong's identity as a disciple of the sect, he immediately arranged the most luxurious top-floor suite for him, and even refused to accept any payment.
Yang Xiong couldn't help but feel speechless. It seemed he was always enjoying the privileges of being a sect noble. No wonder the sect's disciples felt such a strong sense of belonging to the sect. Just the attentive service alone was enough to make one feel spoiled.
Yang Xiong meditated alone in his hotel room, and around 7 PM, he headed out alone to his destination—the Great Soul Arena of Heaven Dou City, the largest Soul Arena in the entire Heaven Dou Empire.
The Great Soul Arena occupied a vast area, divided into more than ten separate arenas. With an audience capacity of over 100,000, it was one of the most luxurious and famous buildings in all of Heaven Dou City.
Upon entering the Great Soul Arena, Yang Xiong carefully studied the rules of the arena before getting ready to register.
All participants in the Soul Arena received a badge. The badges were ranked based on the quality of the mineral they were made from. The lowest rank was the Iron Badge, or Iron Soul Arena. The other ranks, in order, were Copper, Silver, Gold, Purple Gold, Sapphire, Ruby, and Diamond—there were a total of eight ranks.
All participants started with an Iron Soul Arena badge. To upgrade from Iron to Copper Soul Arena, one needed 100 points. Each victory in a battle earned one point, but a loss resulted in a deduction of points. If a participant achieved a winning streak of more than five matches, each additional win would grant ten points. After ten consecutive wins, each additional win would grant 100 points. Even if one successfully upgraded to Copper Soul Arena with enough points, if their points dropped by 100, they would lose the qualification for Copper Soul Arena.
To progress from Copper Soul Arena to Silver Soul Arena, one needed 1,000 points. Each victory earned ten points, and each loss deducted ten points, with the same rules for winning streaks as with the Iron Soul Arena.
In other words, to perform well in the Soul Arena, one had to achieve consecutive victories. The more consecutive wins, the higher the points.
However, soul masters grow stronger over time. At the high-level Soul Elder rank, you might be invincible in your own realm, but once you reach the Soul King realm, you'll have to face Soul Kings who are at levels 48 or 49. The difference between level 41 and level 49 is vast.
Moreover, in the Soul Arena, one encounters a wide variety of opponents with different martial souls and attributes. Some martial souls are naturally countered by others, which makes consecutive victories more difficult.
For example, a strength-based soul master might be invincible in a certain stage, but if they face a soul master who is much faster than them, they could easily be defeated.
Most soul masters have a specific preference—speed, power, agility, or defense. Very few can develop all aspects equally.
The difference between martial souls is even more significant. Top-tier beast martial souls and weapon martial souls naturally suppress ordinary soul masters. For example, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon family, most beast martial soul masters would be at a disadvantage when fighting against them.
Additionally, the Soul Arena generally has three types of battles: strategic battles, betting battles, and life-and-death battles, each with varying degrees of bloodshed and cruelty. The number of participants can vary between one-on-one, two-on-two, and group battles.
Yang Xiong went straight to the registration desk, where the staff quickly gave him a form. The form asked for his name, soul power level, place of birth, martial soul, and other information. After filling it out, Yang Xiong received an Iron Soul Arena badge, with a corresponding number engraved on the back, linked to his personal information.
Additionally, anyone with a Soul Arena badge was required to adopt a nickname for use in the arena. Only the Soul Arena itself knew the real identity behind the nickname.
Without hesitation, Yang Xiong chose the nickname "Xiong Ba Tian Xia" (Xiong, Ruler of the World). Although he wanted to cultivate quietly in this world, he still needed some goals to keep him motivated.
The nickname was quickly engraved on the Iron Soul Arena badge, and his registration was complete.
Yang Xiong immediately signed up for a strategic battle and quietly waited for the competition to begin.
After half an hour, it was finally Yang Xiong's turn to compete. He put on a silver mask and followed the instructions to the arena.
This was Yang Xiong's first time participating in a Soul Arena battle, and he was a bit nervous. Although he had visited the Soul Arena before, he had only ever watched the battles with his parents. Being the one to step onto the stage was a completely different feeling.
Especially as Yang Xiong walked toward the stage, his heart began to race. The arena was 40 meters wide and long, large enough for a regular Great Soul Master to fully exert their abilities. This was a standard Great Soul Master arena.
The sound of the cheering crowd around him was deafening, and the noise made Yang Xiong's heart beat faster.
