"Huh?"
Fíliya was momentarily stunned, then a wronged expression appeared on her face.
"Unfair, unfair. Others get easier exams when they pull strings, but my difficulty increased? Are you treating me like a demon?!"
"Hmm? Doesn't that just mean Lady Serie values you highly?"
Sense chuckled.
"Tsk… who wants that guy's high regard…"
Fíliya pouted, but then continued to ask.
"By the way, Sense, you… about me messing around with demons…"
"Mm, I reported everything truthfully to Lady Serie… You know, I can't lie."
A hint of embarrassment finally appeared on Sense's face as she said this.
"Then… what did Serie say?"
Fíliya tentatively asked, a little nervous. If there was anything in this world she still needed to be wary of, the "God of Magic" clearly had to be among them.
"Lady Serie was very surprised, but quickly calmed down… She even said you accomplished a great feat, and that she also wanted to discuss magic with demons before, but had no way to communicate with them, and would end up fighting and killing them after only a few words… When she said this, Lady Serie even showed a very regretful expression."
"Ugh… as expected, a way of thinking characteristic of a battle maniac."
Fíliya recalled her previous assessment of Serie, and now it seemed she hadn't been wrong at all.
"I think Serie might need to take a course in 'Conversation Skills'."
Fíliya complained. She could fully imagine what it would be like for Serie, with her dull, stubborn, and self-centered personality, to interact with demons.
It would be a miracle if they didn't end up fighting.
"Hmm… but even though Serie didn't directly accuse me, I'll definitely be interrogated when I go to see her, right?"
"That is certain."
Sense nodded in strong agreement.
"Tsk… I kind of regret coming back, what should I do?"
Fíliya said in a sulky tone.
"Then… let me grant you one wish, anything, as long as I can do it."
Sense said with a serious expression.
Huh?
Fíliya was instantly stunned, and she felt her body rapidly heating up…
After all, in that instant, countless possibilities that would make one blush flashed through her mind.
"Am I… am I blushing? How could that be… So I make fun of Stark every day, but it turns out I'm just like Stark, huh…"
No, I can't blame myself, only Sense's words are too impactful.
Phew…
Fíliya forced herself to calm down.
"Ugh… let's save it for later, I'll… tell you when I've thought about it."
Fíliya said, quickly turning her head away.
"Is that so… what a pity."
A hint of disappointment flashed in Sense's eyes, but then she immediately said.
"I also have a request, an assignment I'd like you to complete during the test… are you willing to accept it?"
"Hmm? What else… and you haven't even clearly explained what extra test Serie is preparing for me."
Fíliya said, and very naturally rested her head on Sense's shoulder. Fortunately, the two had long been accustomed to such intimate interaction, and neither felt anything amiss.
"Lady Serie's extra test can only be told to you on the day of the test… As for mine…"
Sense took a deep breath, then continued to speak.
"I ask you to save all the mages who might lose their lives, and ideally ensure everyone completes the test without casualties. Are you willing to accept?"
Fíliya pinched her chin and thought for a moment.
She wasn't considering whether this request would cause her trouble; she was just thinking… this is truly Sense's style.
"You really are so kind, my dear 'Pacifist,' Sister Sense."
Fíliya looked into Sense's eyes, a teasing smile on her lips.
"That's right, this is part of my practice of 'Pacifism'… In my own test, I can ensure everyone's safety, but the chief examiner for the first round is Genau. He is a complete 'elitist,' believing that First-Class Mages are worth risking examinees' lives for, and that only true strong individuals deserve to survive the test, so his test will likely cause many casualties."
"Because it's not my responsibility, I have no right to interfere, so I can only rely on you."
Sense said.
"Tsk, that's utterly stupid… Why is Genau still pulling this rotten stunt… All of humanity's mages combined are only four or five thousand, and those who can come to take the First-Class Mage test are already among humanity's best elites… And they're going to die for such a boring test?!"
"First-Class Mage is just a title. Even with Serie's 'privilege,' it's not worth risking one's life for."
"First-Class Mages can create miracles and explore the profound realms of magic. Second-Class Mages are already sufficient to be core combatants in national armies, and even Third and Fourth-Class Mages can serve as squad leaders or teachers in magic schools to inspire the next generation."
"Even if they can't become First-Class Mages, those who are eliminated can still shine in their respective roles… Ultimately, they are all humanity's backbone. So they won't be killed by demons, but they'll be killed by a boring test set by their own people? 'Elitism'… is truly foolish."
Fíliya expressed her sharp criticism with disdain.
After hearing Fíliya's words, Sense happily reached out and stroked Fíliya's head.
"Well said… It seems you've remembered my words well."
Sense smiled as she looked at Fíliya.
Fíliya remained noncommittal. She knew, of course, that Sense was referring to the phrase, "you must also love humanity."
"I can't help it. Who made me someone raised by a 'Pacifist'… People are most easily influenced by those around them, am I right?"
"Mm, so Fíliya, does this mean you agree?"
Sense chuckled.
"Of course, since it's a request from my big sister, how could I bear to refuse?"
"That's good… I've been up for two days straight, and I'm very sleepy now. Let's end our chat here. You can go to your 'friends' now."
Sense said this, motioning for Fíliya to get off her lap. After Fíliya complied, she stood up, covered her mouth with her hand, and let out a soft yawn.
But Fíliya had no intention of leaving. She still followed Sense into the bedroom.
"Hmm?"
Sense looked at Fíliya behind her. She felt her eyelids were starting to droop, and she could fall asleep instantly even without Hypnosis Magic (Schlafengeflügel). If Fíliya weren't still here, she would have collapsed onto the bed immediately.
"I'm a little… reluctant to leave you. At least let me watch you fall asleep, then I'll go?"
Fíliya tentatively asked.
Sense raised an eyebrow slightly, clearly a little surprised. After several seconds of stunned, she silently nodded.
"Mm."
