Chapter 2 - Something's Not Right

"Finally finished eating. According to my inherited memories, I can either consume metal, combined with the eggshell's nutrients, and reach Star Level in a year."

"Or, I can hunt and devour powerful creatures, which would also accelerate my growth. But neither of those is urgent. First, I need to catch a Monster to understand this planet."

Jin Yu urgently needed to confirm if he was actually on Earth.

"Almost apprentice level nine in energy intensity, you're the one."

After searching, Jin Yu found an Electric Eel nearly a hundred meters long. Its fish tail had actually evolved into a Dragon Tail, and its energy level had reached the peak of Lord Level.

Opening his nearly 20-meter-wide Scale Wings, Jin Yu instantly transformed into a golden blur. Before the Electric Eel could react, he knocked it unconscious with a single wing strike.

"Soul Search!"

Jin Yu's horn glowed, and powerful Spiritual Force aggressively burrowed into the Lord Level Electric Eel's mind.

This was a basic Secret Technique he'd learned from the Golden Horned Beast's inherited memories. He hadn't had time for in-depth study, but the simple, brute-force application was easy enough to grasp.

The only cost was that the target's soul would collapse and die after the Soul Search.

"The strongest thing around within a hundred kilometers is a Star Level Tuna? And the strongest being in this sea area is a Star Level 8 Thunder Dragon?"

After the Soul Search, Jin Yu roughly understood the situation in this sea area, based on the images and energy perceptions he'd gleaned. At least, he wasn't in any immediate danger with his current abilities.

"The Monsters in this sea area are so weak. It's likely Earth. But I still need to find a human to confirm."

Jin Yu thought for a moment, then transformed into a golden afterimage once more, diving towards the Coastline.

Evening, August 20, 2057, in America, North America, the former NY State.

NY connects to the Atlantic Ocean.

Therefore, America built a large military district not far from NY, and constructed a War Base in NY to prevent Monsters from the sea from entering the inland.

The War Base was over 500 meters long, resembling a ferocious Monster perched on the river.

Inside the War Base.

The setting sun's rays shone through from above. In an underground bunker below, five American soldiers were sitting cross-legged on the ground, gambling. Because there wasn't much fighting in the War Base most of the time, and when battles did occur, people often died, the soldiers usually gambled for fun, and the military's higher-ups didn't interfere.

"Shit, bad hand!"

One of the young black men cursed, throwing away the cards in his hand. Because he had run out of money, he went to the small opening of the bunker to relax.

The opening faced the former location of the Statue of Liberty, but the Statue of Liberty had long since collapsed and become ruins.

"Damn viruses! Goddamn Monsters! The Statue of Liberty has fallen too. One day, these filthy creatures will all be killed!" The black youth yelled angrily, seeing the Monsters prowling in the distance.

"omg, is this Monster looking for death?!"

The black youth suddenly pointed in surprise at the entrance of the bunker, and the other soldiers immediately looked over upon hearing his voice.

This was a Monster with a body length exceeding 16 meters, whose form was similar to a 'Lion'. Its body was covered with black scales the size of human heads, and each black scale had a razor-sharp edge that sent chills down one's spine. It also possessed a pair of Scale Wings, spread out over 20 meters wide, as if made of steel!

On its head was a Horn that stood tall, as if wanting to pierce the sky!

"Damn, it's a Lord Level Monster!"

"It must be 15-6 meters! This speed... at least Lord Level, sound the Alarm!"

"Quick, quick, quick!"

The piercing alarm immediately blared, echoing throughout the entire War Base. The previously relaxed base instantly sprang to life, as if a spring had been wound up. Countless soldiers rushed back to their posts, preparing for battle!

What terrified them, however, was that just as they thought they could easily handle the situation, the golden patterns on the black Monster's Horn suddenly lit up, causing its speed to dramatically increase, leaving behind afterimages.

This was the Golden Horned Beast's Talent Secret Technique, Enhancement.

The steel fortresses, capable of withstanding Lord Level attacks, were pierced like tofu by the black Monster. Simultaneously, two soldiers were also impaled, and the black Monster disappeared into the depths of the ocean with them.

Jin Yu stopped about a hundred kilometers away from the fortress, and performed a Soul Search on the two soldiers he had impaled, who were now unconscious.

He casually tossed the two corpses into the ocean, his heart unmoved, as if he had simply done a trivial thing.

At this moment, he didn't notice that he had already been influenced by the Golden Horned Beast's killer bloodline.

"So, it's on Earth. And it's August 20th, 2057. China recently had an invincible War God, Luo Feng."

Because the strongest person on Earth was Chinese, the Chinese language was popular worldwide, and most people knew some of it.

After organizing the memories, Jin Yu finally confirmed the time and place of his transmigration.

"It seems I caused the Golden Horned Beast to be born early. According to the original timeline, it should have emerged from the egg in 2058."

Jin Yu hadn't expected that his angry strike, breaking the eggshell, would cause him to be born a year earlier.

"But, I became the Golden Horned Beast, what about Luo Feng's opportunities?"

Thinking of this, Jin Yu was stunned.

The Golden Horned Beast could be said to run through the entire "Swallowed Star" story; without the Golden Horned Beast, there would be no brilliant future for Luo Feng.

And without Luo Feng, no one could solve the threat of the World Beasts.

However, now, the Golden Horned Beast was taken over by him for some reason! But he couldn't possibly be so foolish as to let Luo Feng take over him, could he?

Jin Yu was almost depressed enough to spit blood, feeling a bit lost, completely falling into self-doubt.

"I can't just travel thousands of miles to hand myself over, offering myself up for Luo Feng to take over. What's the use of thinking about this now?" Jin Yu finally gave a self-deprecating smile.

Even if the World Beast crisis happened in the future, it was impossible for him to sacrifice himself. Noble? Prioritize the greater good? Come on, he wasn't a saint. If he died, what would be the point of defeating the World Beasts?

"Let's see if there's anything useful in the miscellaneous items section." Now that Jin Yu had confirmed he was on Earth, he wasn't in a rush.

When he was organizing his memories earlier, he always felt that some strange things had been mixed in, and he hadn't had time to sort them out.

"The origin of the inherited memories?" Jin Yu turned to the part that had always puzzled him, his eyes lighting up as he read it carefully.

Ten minutes later, Jin Yu revealed a look of sudden understanding. It looked a bit ferocious on the Golden Horned Beast's face.

He originally thought that the inherited memories were similar to a set of rules or gifts. Whether it was a newly born Golden Horned Beast in the starry sky, or a Golden Horned Beast egg spat out after the Golden Horned Beast's death, they would receive the same inheritance information.

But he found that he was wrong. The inheritance information was limited and couldn't be accumulated without limit.

The inherited memories are structured like a cloud server. Every Golden Horned Beast that becomes Undying is eligible to leave behind a legacy, uploading one of their inheritances to the cloud server.

The Golden Horned Beasts throughout history discovered that if they uploaded inheritances that were too advanced, some members would be taken over by other groups, which would result in various Secret Techniques being given away for free to those other groups. Therefore, they deleted some of the inheritance information, replacing it with only the inheritances that Golden Horned Beasts could cultivate.

"Damn, that's sneaky. No wonder Luo Feng didn't get any precious Secret Techniques in the original story. It turns out those old geezers deleted the inheritances," Jin Yu said, baring his teeth in anger.

Logically, the Golden Horned Beast clan was extremely powerful, with two Universe Masters. They should have had many amplifying Secret Techniques. However, in the original story, Luo Feng only obtained the Secret Technique for cultivating the Golden Horned Beast and devouring precious materials.

Even though there were amplifying Secret Techniques that could be cultivated without resources, they didn't provide them, and instead, they only gave the inheritances that were only for Golden Horned Beasts to cultivate.

However, the good news was that besides the cloud server, there was also a local server for inheritance. Besides those nurtured by the natural environment, a Golden Horned Beast that was about to die could also pass on all of its inheritances to the next generation through the nurturing Secret Technique.

This was the advantage of the local server; it wasn't restricted by the rules.

"Holy shit! I've struck gold!" Jin Yu continued to sort through the information and discovered the valuable wealth that his predecessor had left for him.

He never expected that his predecessor had left him an inheritance. He had the account and password, but the only condition for withdrawal was to present a horn of a Golden Horned Beast.

So, the predecessor was also called Jin Yu, and had even made a name for himself as Lord Jin Yu in the human nation. This brief description gave Jin Yu a basic understanding of his predecessor.

"Lord Level strength, and this fortune is quite substantial." Jin Yu saw the information and found that the inheritance left for him exceeded 5 million Mixed Yuan Units.

However, in reality, it wasn't much. Even an Undying Army Leader like Hu Yanbo had left his disciple an inheritance of three million Mixed Yuan Units. There was nothing to be surprised about with what the Golden Horned Beast had left behind.

But now, he couldn't access the universe, so Jin Yu could only stare blankly at these numbers. This made him depressed enough to start questioning his life.
