Chapter 98 - Chapter 99 The Evil Saint Has Arrived at the Door

Bruce Banner pulled up in front of Hawke in his Jeep, opened the door, and got out.

Hawke, having delivered his final punch, looked at Bruce who had arrived before him.

The Wakandans stood at the village gate, watching this scene, exchanging bewildered glances.

Their eyes met.

Hawke spoke first.

"Dr. Banner."

"Hawk."

Bruce Banner, who showed no sign of anything amiss in appearance or demeanor, nodded to Hawke in greeting, as if greeting an old friend, then looked around: "This place has beautiful scenery."

Perfect for a peaceful rest.

Bruce added in his mind.

Although Wakanda was seen by outsiders as a resource-poor, barren country that even other small nations wouldn't bother to look at,   the scenery around the Wakanda tribe was indeed quite beautiful.

Grasslands.

Lakes.

Forests.

What's most remarkable is the scarcity of modern industry in the surrounding area; even in the magical land of Africa, it could be considered a rare natural haven.

Hawke understood the double meaning in Bruce's words and chuckled.

"I thought you'd given up."

"I had."

"Then why did you change your mind?"

"Betty left me a message."

"Oh."

Hawke nodded with a look of realization, then shrugged: "You can wait until I get back to New York."

Bruce shook his head.

"New York won't work."

"Why?"

"Too many people. What if we start fighting and another Hawk appears?"

"Haha."

Hawke chuckled at Bruce's explanation, then his smile faded as he looked at Bruce.

"So, here then?"

"Yes, here it is."

"Okay."

Hawke smiled slightly.

The next second!

"Bang!"

Hawke's figure vanished instantly, reappearing where Bruce Banner had just been standing.

As for Bruce he was hunched over, like a boiled shrimp, as he flew backward.

Boom!

Thud!

Boom!

Like a cannonball, Bruce crashed into the grass, carving a crater, then continued his momentum, using his body as a plow to clear about fifty meters before coming to a stop.

Once the sound and dust had completely dissipated, Bruce lay there, covered in mud, lifeless.

Dead.

Hawke stood there, expressionless, watching Bruce's lifeless body in the distance.

Since Bruce wanted to die, he wouldn't try to dissuade him, he would only grant his wish.

But time ticked by.

Bruce Banner lay lifeless on the clearing, his body rapidly losing warmth, yet Hulk showed no sign of returning.

Hawke stared at Bruce's corpse, watching it grow cold, without noticing any sign of resurrection.

Hiss!

Had he misunderstood?

Had Bruce Banner simply come to his death?

Hawke was bewildered.

He couldn't understand.

Never mind.

Vibranium was more important.

Hawke thought, turning his gaze away from the now-cold body of Bruce Banner and turning back towards the direction of the Wakanda tribe.

There he was.

The air above the Wakanda tribe echoed with the sound of bells signaling an enemy attack.

One by one, Wakandans, armed with spears that looked remarkably like wood, formed a defensive formation under the leadership of an older Wakandan, watching Hawke warily as he slowly turned to look.

"Seven o'clock."

"Vibranium."

Hawke returned to his jeep, took out his phone, glanced at the time, tossed it into the car, and then, rolling up the sleeves of his black shirt, walked towards the Wakanda tribe.

His voice was as calm as ever.

Once Hawke was about five meters away from the elder Wakandan, he slowly raised his head, his sharp gaze ignoring the Wakandan standing guard with his wooden spear, and fixing on the elder Wakandan.

"Hand it over!"

"No way!"

The elder Wakandan roared, the staff in his hand, seemingly a symbol of status, slamming to the ground with a metallic clang.

The staff seemed to shimmer with light, then, at a visible speed, transformed from a staff resembling a scepter into a strangely shaped metallic spear.

Thump, thump, thump!

As the elder Wakandan changed his weapon, behind him, the assembled Wakandans, wielding wooden spears, also struck the ground with their spears.

Their wooden spears, too, were rapidly transformed.

In the blink of an eye, the Wakandans who were spear-wielding primitives one second had become primitives wielding alien metal weapons the next.

The elder Wakandan struck the ground once more with his spear.

"Wakanda!"

"Hooray!"

"Boom!"

The roar of over thirty Wakandans was deafening, the sound of their metal spears striking the ground like an earthquake.

The next second, the older Wakandan, after his battle cry, launched the first attack, charging towards Hawke with his metal spear in both hands.

The thirty-odd Wakandans followed closely behind, charging like thirty-odd black pigs, roaring and charging.

Hawke watched the Wakandans charging towards him and couldn't help but chuckle.

God could testify that these Wakandans attacked first, not him.

But that's fine.

If they hadn't attacked first, I would have had some moral baggage.

Now, it's all good.

He was just retaliating.

Hawke's thoughts raced, then he looked at the older Wakandan who had reached him and chuckled.

He stopped.

Boom!

Just as Hawke was still in place, a Prandtl-Glaue condensation cloud, also known as a sonic boom cloud, suddenly appeared.

Hawk vanished instantly.

The next second,to the astonishment of the rest of the Wakandans, the older Wakandan visibly completed the act of separating flesh from bone.

Then, with a powerful impact, over thirty Wakandans were flung into the air and thrown to either side.

In an instant, the thirty-odd Wakandans falling from mid-air landed with a series of thuds, like dumplings being dropped into a pot.

But almost instantly upon landing, they gripped their spears tightly again and regrouped into battle formation.

One of the Wakandans, looking at the newly formed humanoid skeleton lying not far away, roared in anger.

"Len!"

"Len is dead. You chose him."

Hawk glanced at the newly forged skeleton, smiled slightly, and looked at the Wakandans: "Last chance. Hand over the vibranium."

"No way!"

"Wakanda!"

"Long live Wakanda!"

"Ah!"

Once again, a chorus of roars erupted as more than thirty Wakandans, wielding spears forged from vibranium, launched the most unsophisticated charge against Hawk.

Seeing this, Hawk remained silent. Watching the Wakandan soldiers charging towards him, he stepped back with his right foot and raised his right fist.

The next second ,Hawk straightened his back and unleashed a powerful punch.

Lightning Sonic Fist.

Thud Thud Thud—a sky full of fist shadows erupted.

A second later, three hundred and forty-five fist shadows blotted out the sky, engulfing the Wakandan soldiers charging towards Hawk.

There were no screams.

There were no roars.

Without the slightest surprise, after Hawke threw a punch and lowered his right hand, there were no longer any Wakandan soldiers standing before him.

In the distance, on the grass, corpses lay mangled, and in the blink of an eye, blood had stained the grass crimson.

However the vibranium spears they had just held lay intact on the stained grass.

Hawke walked over, hooked his right foot, and stretched out his right hand to grasp the vibranium spear.

Outside, vibranium was priceless.

But here, Wakanda was so wealthy that even melee weapons were made of vibranium.

Hawke thought to himself, gripping the vibranium spear tightly, then adding his left hand, squeezing both ends of the spear with increasing force.

But without him unleashing his cosmos, the vibranium spear didn't bend at all.

Truly worthy of vibranium.

Hawke tossed his spear aside, turned, and vanished the instant his right foot stepped out, the sonic boom reappearing on the earth.

Boom!

The earth trembled as the sonic boom reverberated, and the blood flowing on the grass changed direction, slowly flowing towards the already cold body of Bruce Banner lying in the clearing not far away.

When Hawke reappeared, he was at the entrance to what appeared on the satellite map to be an undeveloped primeval forest—in reality, the true gateway to Wakanda.

Looking around,a group of Wakandan soldiers dressed in blue and wielding vibranium spears had assembled.

In front of these Wakandan soldiers were more than twenty others, also dressed in blue, riding mounts that resembled rhinos, but were much larger.

The twenty-odd rhinos seemed to sense Hawke's danger instinctively, pacing uneasily and snorting.

Hawke's gaze fell upon the bald, black woman standing at the forefront, also dressed in blue but with numerous gold collars around her neck.

The bald woman was named Ooye, belonging to a border tribe of Wakanda.

If the merchant tribe Hawke had encountered earlier was Wakanda's first line of defense in disguise, then this border tribe was Wakanda's first line of defense to protect the real Wakanda.

The border tribe's duty was to guard Wakanda's borders.

They were the most elite warriors.

They were the strongest soldiers.

Ooye, also riding a giant rhinoceros, swiftly raised her spear, pointing it at Hawke, who was attempting to invade their territory.

"Wakanda!"

"Long live Wakanda!"

"Charge!"
