Although the poisonous smoke obscured the view, Lynd could still clearly see marine creatures moving in the ocean, which was enveloped in poisonous smoke and had a temperature like boiling water. And on the volcanic reefs, some strangely shaped creatures could also be seen. When Deltos flew over these creatures, they all jumped into the boiling water in fright.
Although Lynd could not clearly see the exact appearance of these creatures, from their general shapes, it could still be determined that these creatures were not human, but more like some kind of mutated seals or walruses, or other marine creatures.
Soon, Deltos flew over the Smoke Sea. When Lynd saw a towering cliff ahead, he knew he had entered the Valyria Peninsula area.
According to records, during the Doom, first the volcanoes around Valyria erupted. The tsunamis generated by the eruption flooded all low-lying areas on the peninsula, and the entire peninsula rapidly subsided. All the land around Valyria sank into the sea, completely severing its connection with Essos.
Afterward, countless meteor showers fell from the sky. Some were lava rocks from volcanic eruptions, while others were genuine meteorites. For example, Land of the Long Summer was hit by multiple meteorites. The dragon lords of Valyria could not even escape by riding dragons; all dragons were destroyed in the catastrophe. And the towering cliffs formed by the land subsidence deterred anyone who wanted to explore Valyria, with only a few managing to find a way to land.
"Be careful!" Perhaps Deltos was too excited; it charged directly towards the cliff without slowing down. Just as it was about to hit the cliff, it turned at an almost right angle, flying up along the cliff face, making Lynd, who was on its back, feel like he was on a roller coaster from his previous life.
After passing through the cliff and flying for a distance, Lynd saw a ruined city similar to Oros. Compared to Oros, this ruined city was clearly worse off. Basically, the entire city no longer showed any buildings. The ground was covered with a thick layer of volcanic ash, some of which had turned into cement, completely burying the entire city underground.
Lynd guessed that this city should be Teria. There were rumors outside that Teria was still inhabited, but this rumor was clearly unreliable. Given Teria's current condition, it was impossible for any living creatures to survive there.
After circling briefly over Teria, Lynd flew towards the central Valyrian Freehold.
From the dust accumulated on the ground of the Valyria Peninsula, it could be seen that for hundreds of years, the volcanic poisonous smoke erupting from the surrounding sea surface had never spread outwards. It had all concentrated on the Valyria Peninsula. This situation occurred not only because of the surrounding environment but also because of the chaotic magic enveloping the entire Valyria Peninsula, which, like a black hole, interfered with the surrounding material world, absorbing everything it could absorb.
As they got closer to Valyria, all the volcanic ash and poisonous smoke were pushed into the sky by an invisible magical force, forming dense black clouds. Large amounts of black and red lightning streaked through the clouds, and the gathered volcanic ash was melted by the lightning, turning into molten rain that fell back to the ground.
Because all the volcanic ash and poisonous smoke were swept into the sky, the areas near the ground were not as shrouded in poisonous smoke as the outer regions. Except for the lack of light, there was no difference from the outside world; even the air could be directly breathed. It just didn't smell very good, having a sulfurous smell like rotten eggs, but at least it was much better than the poisonous smoke in other places that would cause suffocation upon inhalation.
The surrounding environment was pitch black, and only through the lightning could some things be seen. Deltos was also unaccustomed to such an environment. It directly used its lightning magic to turn itself into a light source, illuminating the surroundings.
At this point, Lynd realized that they had actually flown over Valyria, but it was too dark earlier to see clearly.
Through the light emanating from Deltos, Lynd clearly saw that the entire city of Valyria was covered in meteor craters. Some of these craters were large enough to cover an entire district, while smaller ones could still accommodate a manor. Moreover, the center of all the meteor craters contained pieces of black stone with an oily surface. This was not the first time Lynd had seen such black stone; the Hightower in Oldtown, the Seastone Chair in the Iron Islands, and the legendary Asshai were all made of this black stone.
Unlike the black stone foundations seen at the Hightower, the black stones in these meteor craters radiated a strong chaotic magic, which was the source of the chaotic magic enveloping all of Valyria.
Upon seeing the black stones, Deltos was like a dog seeing a meat bun, eager to land on a house-sized piece of black stone.
However, Lynd stopped him, because he remembered what happened to the last person who came to Valyria on a dragon. There were terrifying unknown creatures in Valyria. These creatures attacked Black Death Bellerion and his rider, Aerea Targaryen, and some of them even parasitized Aerea's body.
All sorts of information indicated the presence of unknown creatures here, creatures that could even harm a giant dragon like Black Death, which made him have to be extra careful.
Lynd had Deltos circle Valyria a few times, both to look for potentially dangerous creatures and to determine the locations of Valyria's various districts, to see if he could find the place Valyria specifically used for hatching Dragon Eggs.
Lynd quickly found some clues on a small hill located at the edge of the ruins. This small hill was hit by three meteorites, and a part of it had completely disappeared. Three huge meteor craters intersected, covering more than half of the mountain's surface.
On the land around these meteor craters, there were large quantities of dragon bones. Counting the skull numbers, there were about a hundred or more. And these dragon bones were not all from adult giant dragons; some bones of young dragons were mixed in, and there were quite a few, feeling like a unified Dragon Nest.
Lynd had Deltos land, and Deltos eagerly landed on the largest of the three black stones, then quickly absorbed the magic contained within the black stone using his own method.
"Deltos, be careful!" Lynd jumped off the dragon's back, reminding Deltos at the same time.
Deltos responded with a low growl, then continued to absorb the black stone's magic.
Lynd said nothing more, walked out of the meteor crater, and headed towards the pile of giant dragon bones he had just discovered.
He soon reached the edge of the bone pile. Although overlooking the entire bone pile from the air did not seem too large, upon approaching, one could find that the area covered by this pile of giant dragon bones was large enough to accommodate an entire Redemption Town.
Just as Lynd was about to go in and explore, to see if he could find any Dragon Eggs, a strange noise came from not far away, causing him to stop.
