Benjamin closed his eyes not in relief but in satisfaction.
"Timeline?" he asked calmly.
"Within days. Funds will be moved tomorrow morning and then we will move forward with the transfer. "
There was a pause.
"And?" Benjamin prompted.
"There were no complications," the man added carefully. "No objections and no suspicion. It's a clean deal."
Benjamin exhaled slowly, the tension he hadn't acknowledged all evening finally loosening its grip on his chest.
"Good," he said. "You will be compensated."
He ended the call and set the phone down with deliberate care.
For a long moment, he simply sat there.
After years of negotiations, dead ends, rejections, inflated offers that went nowhere, years of living in constant fear and anxiety, that land was finally his.
He leaned back in his chair, rubbing his temple lightly as fatigue settled into his bones but beneath it was something close to peace.
The kind of peace that came when a long war finally ended.
