A few days passed. Suzy took Seo-Yeon to the morgue. Officer Lao led them through a dimly lit room. He stopped near a steel drawer. He pulled it out and carefully folded back the sheet. Manager Min's face was covered in a bandage.
"After Jeon's interview, I am amazed that you asked to see the dead body." Officer Lao scoffed.
"What do you mean?" Seo-Yeon raised her brows.
"Don't you know? Jeon forced us to close the case." Officer Lao rolled his eyes. Seo-Yeon gazed at Suzy. Why did Jeon do that? Is it just for Aurora's reputation?
Officer Lao eyes widened, "You did not?"
Seo-Yeon turned to the drawer. "What are the autopsy report results?" She wore gloves before touching the dead.
Officer Lao saw hope of reopening the case. He pulled out the dead's left arm from the sheet.
"The killer scratched his left arm, but no substance was found. Also, we found Ketamine in his body." Officer Lao passed a file to Suzy.
"Ketamine is a kind of anesthesia drug. The killer seems expert. Look at this wound," He pointed at a slashed wound on the dead's chest.
"In all my years, I've never seen a wound this clean made by a beginner."
Suzy noticed an old wound mark on the dead's left hand. "Officer, this mark?" she asked.
"It's an old one. Probably 5 years ago." The officer replied.
"Officer, I want you to keep investigating this case secretly. No one outside this room is to know. If you need anything, contact Suzy." Seo-Yeon said.
A moment later in the car, Suzy was driving but not focused. She kept biting her lips. Seo- Yeon eyes met hers in the rearview mirror.
"Tell me, what happened?" Seo- Yeon know her whenever Suzy's distrub, she kept biting her lips until it bled.
" Nothing...just Manager Min's left hand confused me." Suzy stopped the car at the red signal.
"Why?" Seo- Yeon asked.
"I didn't remember that Manager Min has the same mark as Manager Dong," Suzy replied. Calmly.
"How do you know about the mark?" Seo- Yeon brows twisted.
"I mostly work with him. He often shows off that mark was a love token he got while saving his wife." Suzy said and sighed.
"Humans can have the same marks, Suzy. Don't tire yourself. Ask Officer Lao to look into it." Seo-Yeon instructed firmly, "Also, go for your leg checkup. You stumbled a lot lately. Don't let it get worse."
The signal turned green, urging them forward.
Life moved on regardless of unanswered questions. Days passed in the blink of an eye. While Seo-Yeon quietly pursued the truth, preparations for Ji Min's wedding continued.
Kim Rahae invited Shen home for good news. Shen almost cried and kept thanking Kim Rahae for considering this marriage. Kim Rahae just replied, "You have to fulfill your promise, no past!"
Mr. Park finished all the preparations for Ji Min's wedding. He knocked before entering Ji Min's room.
"Pa, come in." She said calmly.
Mr. Park patted her head and sat beside her.
"My daughter is grown up now." Mr. Park looked at her with affectionate eyes. "You resemble your Mom."
"Really." Ji Min looked at the mirror.
"Yes, but she gets violent easily. She was a queen. And you," Mr. Park cupped her face, "You are her gift for me. A cute Little princess." He paused before continuing, "Soon this house will be empty. No one will say;
'Pa, no sugar! Pa, you are late! Pa, you are getting old." Mr. Park smiled as a tear escaped.
Ji Min hugged him tightly, "Then I am not going."
"Stop formality. I know you can't wait to get married to him." Mr. Park teased her.
Ji Min's hope that Yoo Han would one day receive the same love she had known was slowly fading. She just kept gazing at her engagement ring with one question.
'Should I step back?'
But Yoo Han sees life as devotion. He's always ready to sacrifice for better days. He was witnessing Ji Min's pain, but just consoled himself.
'Better late than never.'
Seo-Yeon had to select a wedding dress. She forcefully dropped Suzy at the Hospital and decided to go alone. She selected some dresses and went to the changing room. She was about to come out, but the door broke. She pulled it again, but no response. Seo-Yeon sighed. She reached for her mobile, but she left it in the car.
Some unknown voices echoed in the room. Her legs were getting numb. The air felt tighter with every second in the room. Too tight to breathe. A sudden realization hit her. She impatiently started knocking on the door.
"Help... help, is someone outside?" she heavily breathed in. "It's bro... broken?"
Seo-Yeon's vision got blurry. Dying here wouldn't be worth it. She got up and punched so hard that her hand bled.
"HELP!" she shouted before getting on her knees. She closed her eyes, losing all hope. That's when the door clicked open. Seo-Yeon saw a blurry figure dressed in black. He approached her.
"Are you ok?" his voice was heavy.
As he bent down, a necklace popped out of his shirt. A fountain pen nib preserved inside a small resin pendant. She closed her eyes and recalled the bar incident.
"J"
