Chapter 3 - What...?

It was totally Miu's fault… she didn't explain to him well, she didn't do the one job she was created to do, help new players… well, to be honest, she wasn't cornered or imprisoned by script and codes… she has her own direction, her own will, but she truly did it wrong with Lucius, she emphasized the wrong thing to him… and that's why there was that sudden change in his personality.

Like the feeling, the realization of it, that you are in the game that you conquered, that you topped… you are in it with all that you had, the skills, the magic, the whole ass character is you… and everything is real… and Lucius… he accepted the fact that he is in Eldoria as the Last Conqueror.

Not just that, but in Lucius's mind, he felt like he had hit the jackpot and of course, he had. Dying on a hospital bed, he used to dream and think about how great it would be to be transmigrated or isekai'd, just like in anime or manga… and now it actually happened.

The sudden change was undeniable, this wasn't a dreamlike state, he wasn't in a coma.

He was truly dead… and about to begin a new journey.

The same journey he did in the past…. where he was fucking untouchable in Eldoria. His character's weakest skill could wipe out a strongest dungeon boss, his strongest most op skill could defeat a Forgotten God, and combining all of it he killed every other PvP player… even defeated the SunGods guild, full of pay-to-win players. Yeah, he joined guild wars by himself… he created a guild to be able to wipe them out… and he did it, he clutched a 30 versus 1.

That's the kind of player he was… he did everything to make the game miserable for others, at least for those players who tried him.

That's what Miu felt. A goddess, yet she felt the pressure growing stronger and stronger. What started as a faint, tickling sensation became something that tried to press her body down… and there was no way she should be feeling this much aura, this much pressure, from someone like him… because well… he wasn't the Last Conqueror anymore.

"A… god?" She asked back finally, her voice low as Lucius was looking down at his hands.

"My character…" He curled his fist as he still looked at it, again feeling that sensation that it was all real, that he is who he is…"My character was a max-level one with mythical runes, mythical weapons and accessories." He slowly looked up at Miu with that maniac smile on his face. "I… killed every boss, I killed every player that tried me, I even wiped out a whole guild… I topped the global servers… I obtained even the Elixir of Life…. I am a god in this world."

Yeah, she finally understood it… those eyes of his, the pressure he felt wasn't Lucius… no, it was what he was once… the only player ever who obtained items that topped everything in the game, the only player in the whole game who obtained the Elixir of Life.

The player who truly could have been a god in Eldoria, who could have ruled over all races, the almighty being… the one that could have wiped out Eldoria as a whole.

"Khhhhh—hahahahAHAHA… I AM A GOD!" He looked up at the sky as he shouted, arms outstretched, and laughed… that insane hysterical laugh… it was not a laugh of joy, but of chaos, wild and untamed, echoing into the clouds… then he looked once again at Miu.

And she felt it even more… those eyes of him was infused with the darkness of the past and that past was the pressure that she felt… the aura of a player with over ten thousand PvP kills, the player who had defeated Lurina's four hundred-thousand-strong army in two minutes, the player who had killed one of the Forgotten Gods… at least in the past, when Eldoria was a game.

"Uhh, Lucius—"

"This is great… I can feel it, I can feel the power surging in me…"

"Lucius!" Miu shouted now and finally got his attention, but that darkness was still in his eyes, the darkness of the knowledge of what power he thought he possessed. "Your character was… deleted."

"Huh…?" Yeah… well, all of the so-called darkness, the so-called power, just disappeared from his eyes as Miu said it.

"What you felt was the past or at least your imagination of it." She said, but to be true to herself, she didn't understand what was happening, nor tried to explain it… the pressure and aura she felt was truly something enormous, so terrifying and dark that it almost infused her pure being…. maybe it was truly the player who he once was… NoobieBoobie23. "You are now the character that the developers scripted in the game… and what they scripted in is just a copy of your character without powers." She saw every bit of excitement just vanishing from Lucius' eyes. "Your main character NoobieBoobie23 was deleted, because the developers thought it would be the best idea to honor your legacy… the player who conquered and found eternal peace in the end."

Yeah, that's exactly what happened… the character he had spent countless hours building was deleted by the developers after he passed away. The decision actually caused outrage on the forums, many felt it was a disrespectful move while others argued it fit the lore of the game, as if the character had simply disappeared and was never defeated… like it served as a somber reminder of the person behind it, whose time in the game, and in life, had come to an unexpected end.

But with that, as Miu said, Lucius' power trip ended quickly, but nobody could really blame him. Like dying and then waking up in the game he had conquered, he was the most powerful, anyone would have a power trip… well, not everyone, some people might have started tweaking out… though he tweaked out on his own, thinking he was a god… yeah maybe once he was on the level of gods, but no more.

Miu said it right, his character was scripted in the game, like a doll to remember him and nothing more… and now, he was that doll and not NoobieBoobie23.

"But there is one thing that you have." Miu said though she kinda looked like she wasn't sure to say it out loud.

"W-what…?" He asked, becoming stressed, and of course, because he noticed Miu's worried face… a goddess's worried face.

"You are immortal."

Silence… neither of them said anything. Lucius's eyes were filled only with disbelief… the kind of disbelief that felt almost traumatic.

But why? Why would he be scared of it, why would he be terrified by the fact that he is immortal… well, because it is Eldoria.

"Please tell me that…" He looked at her. "I'm not an Eldoria-type immortal…"

"It is Eldoria immortal."

As she said it, Lucius simply fell to his knees and his very being was shaken by the fact of what she just told him… that he is immortal… the Eldoria type one…

I'm was fucked on Earth and even fucked here… haha—

Why? Why does immortality in Eldoria mean everything but a blessing?

The answer is simple.

In Eldoria everything could be destroyed or killed, even the gods and their divine powers there was even a quest to fight Miu… and to be able to fight them, of course, you needed to progress, to level up, learn runes, new spells, new sword skills, learn your class as a whole, and everything an MMORPG has to offer.

So in short, in Eldoria, nothing was immortal. You could defeat anything if you leveled up your gear, completed the highest-tier trial chambers, towers, and dungeons, completed hidden quests, or spent a lot of money—

With one exception… there was a time when immortality was a thing in the game… in an April Fools event.

To be true, it was more than an April Fools event and the developers truly did something unique, something that was fun for a day to most people… yeah… to the most because there the top two players of the event got something special.

The player who dealt the most damage during the event received a blessing, while the one who took the most damage and would have died the most had his game turn into hell for months, all thanks to the developer and their bright ideas.

The April Fools event was about immortality, literally everything became immortal in the game, the bosses, the players, the NPCs, everything living became one, and with it, all the grind, all the sleepless nights turned to be worth nothing for a day.
