Aiden:
"I'm sitting down," I said. "I feel like my brain has stopped working."
"No! You're not," Abigail said, taking my hand to guide me back to the chair.
"Ohhh! So… I can do what again?" I asked, still not believing my ears.
"Aiden, you can control people's minds," Abigail replied, shaking me gently back and forth.
"I know, I know that. WAIT… THIS IS AMAZING!" I practically shouted, bursting with excitement. Everyone smiled at me.
"Well, well, someone's happy," Abigail said, no longer terrified.
"Why wouldn't I be happy? You should be too!" I replied, grabbing her to do a little dance with me, while our parents visibly relaxed seeing us happy.
"Of course I'm happy, dumbass," Abigail said, smiling as we performed our signature little dance.
"Okay! Now will you both sit down?" Dad grinned.
We stopped to look at him, then at each other, before bursting into laughter.
"How can we sit?? Dad, we deserve to celebrate after all that shock!" I emphasized.
"I'm not saying you can't celebrate, but first, listen to me, okay? A few things are going to change, and we want you to know what," Dad said.
"Okay?" I replied, looking at Abigail.
We both went and sat down again, bracing ourselves for whatever Dad was about to say.
"As we know, you might have powers, so your mom and I have decided to send you to your grandparents," Mom leaned closer, taking both of our hands.
"What… why?" Abigail asked.
"Dear, we can't train both of you ourselves, as we don't have much power left," Dad replied.
"We still have them, but they've weakened, so we can't use them much anymore. We decided it'll be best if you go to your grandparents, where you can be trained properly," Mom added softly.
"How can we go there?? We never even knew they existed until now," Abigail asked dryly.
"You didn't know about them, didn't know about yourselves," Mom replied.
"You will come with us, right?" I asked.
"My kids… no, we won't be coming with you," Dad clarified softly.
"But… why?" I asked, confused.
"We can't leave the pack behind, dear. So only you'll be going. But rest assured, you'll fall in love with that place," Mom replied softly.
"This is not fair! You should've told us before. We have friends and family here. How can we just leave like that?" I asked angrily.
"We don't have any other options. We can't risk you losing control of your powers and hurting anyone—and I know you wouldn't want that," Dad replied seriously.
Hearing him put it like that made us pause. We looked at each other, knowing we never wanted to hurt the people we love.
Dad looked at us for a moment before standing and hugging us. "We know this is too much information to absorb right now, but know that we love you," he said softly.
"And you still have a week before you go, so enjoy it. Say goodbye to your friends, go out with them. If not, you can always stay in touch through your phones," Mom added gently.
Abigail and I nodded.
"Okay! Now, you can go to your rooms and rest, as you just got back from school. We'll have dinner together later, okay?" Dad said.
"Okay!" I replied.
We hugged for what felt like hours. Dad gave one last rub on each of our backs before letting us go, while Mom kissed each of our cheeks. Then Abigail and I walked out of the office.
After stepping outside, we stared at each other, trying to process everything.
"Come, let's go to my room," Abigail said, grabbing my hand. I nodded and followed her.
Once in her room, I sat at the edge of the bed.
"What are we going to do now?" I asked, still confused.
"We'll sleep," Abigail replied, as if it were obvious.
"How can you think of sleeping??" I questioned.
"We need it, Aiden. This is a lot to process, plus we're tired. Come on," Abigail said, climbing onto the bed.

Abigail:
Aiden came and laid down next to me. We stayed like that for a few minutes.
"You know I can't sleep after all that, right?" Aiden asked, looking at me.
"I know. I can't sleep either," I sighed.
Hearing this, Aiden sat up. "So… we should think about what to do."
Aiden hesitated. "We were going to after we rested enough, but since we can't, let's plan now," I confessed softly.
"Good! I still can't believe this is happening to us," Aiden groaned in frustration.
"Honestly, same. Just this morning, we were clueless—and look at us now," I clutched the blanket.
"Hmmm! So what are we going to do exactly?" Aiden asked cautiously.
"Idiot, we have to say goodbye to our friends and make our birthday party amazing. But first, we need to solve Alex's problem," I reminded him.
"Ohhh! I forgot about him," Aiden stammered.
"Of course you did. Your brain can never remember anything," I sighed dramatically.
Aiden laughed. "Hahaha! Very funny."
"Yeah, yeah! We already talked to Dad about this. I'm sure he'll call Uncle Michael before dinner," I explained.
"You're right. So our mission has begun. We can tell the others tomorrow and also check their progress," Aiden exclaimed.
"Hmm! Just imagining Alex's state after we're done makes me happy," I shouted excitedly.
We both laughed heartily, forgetting our worries.
"Yup, it'll be quite the show. Thanks, Abigail," Aiden muttered softly.
"For what??" I asked.
"For helping me ease my mind. Now I think I can sleep," Aiden replied, grinning.
"You're welcome. Good, because we need sleep. After waking up, we'll ask Mom and Dad what to do next about the move, and how to tell everyone about this," I said, smiling.
We laid down and after a few moments, drifted off to sleep.
