Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: This is store policy

Her phone rang again. An unknown number flashed across the screen. Yunying answered lazily.

"Good afternoon, Miss Xu.." a professional male voice came through. "This is Lin from Hengyuan Luxury Auto. Your father has instructed us to assist you in selecting a car. We have the latest models from Maserati, Porsche, Aston Martin, Bentley..whatever you prefer. Could you let us know your choice?"

Yunying's lips curved in a lazy, dangerous smile. She tapped her manicured finger against the glass counter beside her.

She had been waiting to say these words for a long time.

"The Maserati Levante Trofeo SUV. Red. Don't waste time showing me the rest. Deliver it to Golden once my father finalizes the payment."

"Yes, Miss Xu. Consider it done."

She hung up without another word, her smile widening.

So this was what being rich felt like? She fucking loved it.

She placed the phone inside her bag and headed toward the boutique.

Éternité Couture. The golden letters gleamed above the glass doors, one of the most exclusive fashion houses in the city.

The moment she walked in, whispers started.

"The eldest miss of the Xu family?"

"I thought she never dared show her face here."

"More like the useless miss…"

Even the wealthy wives lounging on velvet sofas leaned closer to each other, sneering behind jeweled fingers.

"Didn't her fiancé dump her?"

"Always overshadowed by her younger sister… pitiful thing."

"And she comes here in that tacky dress?"

Yunying ignored them, her expression calm as she looked around. "Excuse me.." she called lightly to the nearest staff member, "can I get a salesgirl?"

The young attendant glanced her up and down, her nose wrinkling. "Apologies, Miss Xu, but all our associates are busy at the moment."

Yunying arched a brow, her gaze sweeping across the room. Four salesgirls stood chatting by the display case, another two scrolling on their phones. Obviously not going anything.

Busy? Busy my ass.

"Oh?" Yunying's voice was soft, but her smile was razor-sharp. "All of you are so busy that you can't spare a single person for me?"

The attendant shifted uncomfortably. "Perhaps you could wait.."

Yunying tilted her head, her smile razor-thin. Her voice, low and dangerous, as it rang through the boutique. "If one more second passes without someone at my side, I'll make sure you all and the manager are all unemployed by sundown."

Her words cracked like a whip. Instantly, three salesgirls scrambled forward, their faces paling. "Miss Xu, please allow us..."

"Let me take your bag for you.."

"This way, we'll show you our newest collection.."

The entire boutique shifted in energy. Even the rich wives sipping tea in the corner exchanged startled looks. This wasn't the downtrodden Xu Yunying they thought they knew.

Yunying's smile softened, almost sweet. "Good girls. That's more like it."

Yunying sank into the plush velvet couch, crossing her legs with effortless poise.

Attendants hovering nearby, neatly holding racks of clothes, trays of shoes, bags, and jewelry, waiting for her command.

She scanned the room casually, then a piece on one of the racks caught her eye.

"That one.." she said, pointing. "Tell me about it."

The attendant stepped forward, her voice careful, almost reverent. "Ah, Miss Xu, that's our deep navy-blue wrap blouse, with collared neckline, long bishop sleeves, and a fitted waist to create a flattering silhouette. It's one of our most elegant pieces, it's perfect for both formal occasions and smart casual looks."

Yunying raised an eyebrow, lips curling into a small smile. "And what would you pair with it?"

The attendant smiled, happy to list out the pairs. "It pairs beautifully with our high-waisted black trousers. We can also bring matching pumps and a structured handbag if you'd like."

Yunying flicked her fingers casually. "Bring it all."

Within minutes, the attendants returned, arms full. They laid out the blouse, trousers, stilettos, and bag with practiced precision. One even whispered, "We also have lingerie collections, Miss Xu… if you're interested."

Yunying arched a brow, lips curving. "Why not? Bring your best."

The staff scrambled, gathering Yunying's demands.

While Yunying stood, slipping gracefully into the outfit. The blouse hugged her waist, the trousers lengthened her legs, the navy stilettos clicking softly against the marble floor. She glanced in the mirror, her reflection so striking that even the attendants drew in sharp breaths.

"Mm. Not bad.." Yunying said, smoothing her sleeve."I'll take them. Now..show me what else you have. Dresses, outerwear, jewelry. Don't waste my time with mediocrity."

"Yes, Miss Xu.." they chorused, bowing slightly before hurrying to fetch more.

Soon, the private room was overflowing with clothes, shoes, bags, and glittering accessories. Each time the attendants brought something forward, Yunying's sharp eyes selected through them with confidence, building a wardrobe that would silence anyone who dared to call her a bumpkin.

As she sat back down, surrounded by luxury, a smile appeared on her face, cold and amused.

This is just the beginning.

The staff were nearly done packing her items when the cashier, lips curved in a sly smile, raised her voice so the whole floor could hear.

"Miss Xu, the total is 760,000 yuan. For an amount this large… you'll need to prove this black card actually belongs to you."

Whispers instantly broke out. Some women nearby glanced over, amused. The cashier's smile deepened as she added, "It's strange, isn't it? Someone like you, carrying a card like this. Do you really… deserve it?"

The words hit Yunying like a slap. Her eyes went cold, her smile disappearing as she rose from her seat. She walked over slowly, heels clicking against marble like a countdown to judgment.

"What did you just say?" Her voice was dangerously soft.

The cashier smirked, emboldened by Xiao Lian's instructions. "I'm just doing my job, Miss Xu. Surely you understand, not everyone can be trusted with something this valuable. After all, not everyone deserves.."

Yunying's expression sharpened. "Deserve?" Her laugh was cold, cutting. "Tell me, what gave you the right to decide what I deserve? Are you God? Buddha? Who the fuck do you think you are?"

The cashier faltered, but Yunying didn't let her recover. Her voice rose, every word slicing through the silence of the store.

"Miss Xu, this is just basic store policies for large purchases. I did nothing wrong.." the cashier stood her ground. After all it wasn't like Xu Yunying had any power.
