To continue our story, Harry decided he must meet Lockhart and ask him for the wondrous plan to destroy Voldemort's soul.
Arthur and Molly were still turning the house upside down, searching for silver or bronze coins.
"Aha! Molly, look! I found a Silver Sickle!"
"Let me see... Oh, I knew it. That must have fallen out of those trousers with the hole in the pocket."
As the saying goes: Family shame should not be aired in public. Although the Weasleys were not ones for ceremony, with Harry and Hermione present, Percy and Ginny, who were thin-skinned, couldn't bear it.
Percy said in a low voice, "Dad, Mum, Ginny can use my owl for now. I don't need to send letters urgently."
Ginny quickly agreed, "I think I have enough, too. I can wear Ron's old robes. And apart from the new Defense books, I can use the ones Bill and the others passed down..."
Ginny's voice trailed off, her face burning. She felt she had lost all face in front of Harry and Hermione.
Harry heard them clearly. He clasped his hands. "Director and Madam, please eat first. This one will go and wash up." With that, he went upstairs.
In a few moments, Harry returned, changed into clean clothes and carrying a heavy, clinking bag.
Arthur was confused. "Harry, what is that?"
Harry placed the bag on the table and untied it. A brilliant golden light burst forth, illuminating Arthur's face as if it were coated in gold leaf.
Molly stared, dumbfounded. She had lived forty years and never seen so much gold.
Percy's eyes were fixed on the pile, and he swallowed repeatedly. Ginny looked as if she'd been petrified, her mouth open.
Harry pushed the bag of gold toward them and clasped his hands. "This one has lived at the Burrow for a month, fortunate to be taken in by the Director and Madam, with fine food arranged daily."
"This one month has been better than my twelve years of life. This is but a meager gift. I hope the Director and Madam will accept it."
Hearing Harry's words, Arthur and Molly were stunned.
A meager gift?
This is at least two or three hundred Galleons—and Harry calls it a meager gift?!
Arthur, though poor, possessed the noble character of being steadfast in poverty. He quickly pushed the gold back. "Harry, we can't. How can I take your money?"
Harry grinned. "Director, you are mistaken. Ron and I are sworn brothers, closer than blood."
"If I give you this small amount, is it not just the left hand passing to the right hand?"
"Harry, thank you for your kindness." Molly's eyes were grateful, but she said gently, "We invited you here as a guest. How could we take your money?"
Harry knew Mrs. Weasley was strong-willed. He turned to the others. "Madam, do not misunderstand. This money is for my brothers and sister to purchase their supplies."
This struck Mrs. Weasley's weak spot. The expensive booklist had already strained their finances.
On top of that, Ginny was starting school and desperately needed supplies.
The couple was persuaded, unable to say another word. Harry pushed the bag at them, and Arthur finally nodded. "Thank you, Harry. The Weasley family owes you one."
"Director, do not speak of such things. This one is not looking to be owed."
Harry then took twenty Galleons and gave them to Percy. "The Prefect works day and night for us in Gryffindor."
"A small token of appreciation."
"Th-this!" Percy's face turned red. "This is against the rules!"
Harry laughed. "How can the rules of Hogwarts apply to the Burrow?"
After Harry insisted, Percy finally took the money.
This proud young man struggled for a moment before saying, "Ahem. Thank you, Harry."
"At school, as long as it doesn't violate my principles... you can come to me if you have any problems."
Fred and George glanced at each other, shocked.
Is he... bending the rules?!
He's never even done that for his own brothers!
Next, Harry gave gold to Fred, George, and Ron.
They were used to his generosity. They shouted their thanks, accepted the favor, and took the money.
Harry then fumbled in his pockets, found his last ten Galleons, and gave them to Ginny with a smile. "Sister, do not scorn this small amount. This one has emptied all his pockets."
He had scattered over a hundred Galleons like rain. Ginny, dazzled by his extravagance, quickly shook her head.
"No, Bro—Harry. Thank you."
After Ginny took the money, Harry sat down. Seeing the Weasleys still staring at the gold, he smiled. "Director, Madam, why aren't you eating? This one and my siblings have been waiting."
Arthur snapped out of his daze. "Oh, apologies. Coming."
After they ate, the group prepared to go to Diagon Alley. The Weasley children were ecstatic.
Usually, trips to Diagon Alley were strained; they never dared to look around for long. But now, thanks to Harry's gold, they could finally enjoy themselves.
They all gathered at the fireplace.
Harry was curious. "Director, aren't we going to Diagon Alley? Why are you cleaning the chimney?"
"Harry, have you never used Floo powder?" Arthur explained. "The fireplaces are all connected. We just stand in, throw down the powder, and say where we want to go."
Percy stepped forward. "Harry, let me demonstrate."
He stepped into the hearth, grabbed a pinch of powder, shouted "Diagon Alley!", and vanished in a flash of green fire.
Harry thought: What a treasure! In a war, one could set up a few stoves, send elite troops through the fire to strike the enemy's central command, cut their supply lines, and coordinate an attack. Not even the armies of heaven could survive it!
One by one, the group took the powder and stepped through, re-gathering in Diagon Alley.
"Alright, let me count... one, two, three... good, no one's missing."
"Let's go. First, to Flourish and Blotts."
They headed for the bookstore, but as soon as they saw the sign, they saw the entrance was completely blocked.
Ron grimaced. "Why are there so many people this year?"
"Look." Hermione pointed. A banner was floating above the shop. "It's Lockhart. He's holding a book signing."
Hearing Lockhart's name, Harry's heart leaped. He gripped his saber and pushed forward, shouting, "This one must meet this Lockhart!"
