Clayton chewed the ice slowly, his jaw tense, mind spinning through endless thoughts.
Why would Maeve say something like that? Was she threatened?
A pregnancy announcement, out of nowhere? It didn't make sense.
But then he's learned a lot from Rain, that things like this could be fabricated to hurt one person.
One thing he knows was that his nephew was one that never gave up. He would not rest until he gets what he wants. And Maeve is tied to that little thief.
"I asked you to dig into my wife's background," Clayton said, turning sharply toward his assistant. "But what you gave me was a summary, not information. Where's the real report?"
Miles flinched. He hadn't thought the new wife mattered this much to his boss. His boss wasn't known to live that long with any woman.
When the news first broke about Maeve's pregnancy scandal, he expected Clayton to explode and file for divorce, not get furious.
