Wyn squinted, trying to get the whole details of the view.
A few people were coming down from the steep and green hill, riding some monstrous creatures.
Because of the incredible speed of the beasts, it wasn't long before they covered the large distance and appeared in front of Wyn.
Among them were four people riding ferocious wolves with thick fur gleaming like liquid silver.
And in the middle was a young and elegant man sitting on the back of a monstrous cockroach about eight feet tall.
"Windspeed Wolves and Swiftfeet Cockroach."
Wyn regarded the beast cockroach, and he could sense a great feeling of malevolence.
Its body was covered in a reddish-brown exoskeleton just like an ordinary cockroach, yet heavily armored. And its eyes shone with a red predatory glint.
Since it was hatched from a beast egg, the beast spawn was still in the wingless juvenile phase.
As the cockroach's mandibles moved about, it would spray saliva on the bare ground, and everything would evaporate at that very spot.
Because of the formidable presence of the cockroach, the acid saliva dripping from its moving mandibles, and its monstrous body, it wasn't hard to know who the group leader was.
"Lil Jong, it is a surprise to see you in this area."
Wyn turned to the guy sitting on the back of the cockroach. These people had nothing to do with plant monsters, even the beast spawns they were riding made that obvious. So Wyn knew it was something more.
Although Wyn was eighteen years old, seeing someone about two years younger already have a beast spawn made him feel incompetent.
Wyn looked at the Swiftfeet Cockroach greedily. Even though it was a common beast spawn, it was still ferocious and stood out among the silver wolves.
Although Lil Jong was riding it, when he merged with it, it would give him high defense with its tough exoskeleton and could even enhance his speed and agility.
Lil Jong casted Wyn and the plant monster carcasses an odd look. Wyn felt his skin crawl at the expression, it was like Lil Jong was looking at a creature struggling to feed at the bottom of the food chain.
"Wyn, would you join us on a hunt?"
Wyn knew that was just a cover-up. After all, compared to this young master and all his minions, he was easily the weakest.
Although Lil Jong had just started exploring the beast planet about a month ago, he was a young master from a prominent family in the government.
From the moment he started his journey of evolution, he had become well known and even gathered minions.
Because he was given a lot of resources, he had little to no problem and leveled up faster than most people who came earlier.
Wyn knew his actual task was to lead Lil Jong through the safe path to the beast nest, not to hunt.
Some nests had traps that needed safe treading unless they would be triggered. In this case, swarms of tiny beasts that shared habitat with bigger ones would be unleashed from their nest.
So, like a thief character in a video game party, they wanted Wyn to guide them through the way.
Of course, Wyn had no issue with that as long as he could receive his due. He was more concerned about their main mission and which beast they were hunting.
"I heard you screwed yourself up last week. You couldn't handle an ordinary metal blue rat, and you fled with your tails between your legs. Wyn! You are a disgrace to the Awakened."
"Don't tell me you're still level ten, ah! Even my baby brother is already a level 15 Awakened. I bet he could kick your ass as you are now."
Bone Slik laughed out loud, pointing to Wyn and hitting his stomach.
Wyn had known him to be a pathetic and cowardly person, a twenty-year-old hiding behind a sixteen-year-old young master. He would want to debase anyone in front of Lil Jong so as to increase his status. Wyn knew there was no way his baby brother was level 15.
At once, Lil Jong raised his hand, signaling silence.
"Hunt the Golden Viper with us, and we will give you one of its gene fragments. What do you say?"
"Are you serious? Golden Viper is a mutant beast, even at your level, you don't stand a chance."
On a deadly-tier planet, to rival the strength of a mutant beast, an awakened human must be at least level thirty.
And even though he leveled up faster than most people because of his background, Lil Jong was only a level 20 Awakened.
Perhaps, combining with his beast spawn could just increase his power level to around twenty-five.
Although this was because beast spawns were juvenile beasts, so their power level was quite low. A common beast spawn in a juvenile phase would have a maximum power level of eight.
And it was obvious that the Windspeed Wolves and Swiftfeet Cockroach excelled mostly in speed. Well, in the case of the cockroach, it had decent defense.
However, when fighting higher-ranking beasts, a single difference in power level could make a big difference.
A mutant beast's power level was around thirty, and since one's level corresponded to their power level, there was no way the group was a match for the beast.
Wyn thought they were crazy for such an idea. Even with all of the group, they were nothing but snacks for a mutant beast, not to talk of a formidable one like the Golden Viper.
"What are they spouting? A Golden Viper's power level will be at least thirty-five, does he have a death wish?"
Even for the gene fragment of a mutant beast, Wyn would never risk his life.
"Would you still say that after seeing this?"
Lil Jong's face turned cold. It seemed he had already guessed what Wyn was thinking, and this made him feel a little angry.
With a wave of his hand, a gigantic beast suddenly appeared in front of the group. It was as big as a building, with its whole body casting lustrous obsidian sheen like a demon from hell.
It was an ant beast with two black curved mandibles that stood out in its jaws, their razor-sharp edges glinting as if thirsty for blood.
Wyn's eyes widened as he took a few steps back in surprise.
The wolves padded backward in dread, even the monstrous cockroach didn't remain calm after seeing it.
This was a higher predator, a mutant beast above their level. Even if it was the spawn of a beast, it still carried the unnerving predatory vibe.
"Death-Jaw Ant is a mutant beast spawn. Where the hell did he get that? So this is the level of advantage a young master from a famous family gets."
Death-Jaw Ant was the mutant beast of Trap-Jaw Ant, a mere insect that Wyn could crush under his foot back on his home planet. However, this one had evolved razor-sharp mandibles capable of inflicting deadly damage.
With powerful reflexes, the Death-Jaw Ant's strength lies in its deadly maw.
Its ability to bite at a lightning-fast speed was terrifying, a bite any creature wouldn't see coming.
Wyn regarded the beast. It stood fiercely like a weapon of mass destruction, with its jaw looking like the scythe of death itself.
"Stop spacing out and answer me! The Golden Viper has a unique sleep pattern, and this is our chance. We are using the Death-Jaw Ant to kill it in its sleep."
"We are on our way to its nest."
Seeing how lost Wyn was, Lil Jong let out an exasperated breath.
"I think he is a little freaked out, it seems this is the first time he has seen a mutant beast spawn."
"Well, it is suicidal to go to their region. As level twenty, we don't even stand a chance without Lil Jong."
Wyn regained himself and snorted, looking at Bone Slik with a repulsive expression on his face.
Lil Jong took out a document from his pouch and gave it to Wyn to sign. Wyn received it and smiled, he realized how serious and ready Lil Jong was.
He had been to the Golden Viper's nest many times but only to steal the beast eggs of common beasts who shared the same habitat with it, so he was confident about his knowledge of the safe routes and traps.
After signing the official beast business document and drooling over his payment, which was one gene fragment of the Golden Viper, he pocketed the document. The thought of advancement made Wyn's wet eyes sparkle like a twinkling star.
"A mutant gene fragment, not a common gene! I can't imagine which level the gene fragment would catapult me to."
For Wyn, this was a rare opportunity to get a massive boost.
It was a chance to advance. He would be able to level up in the Awakened phase.
