The exhaustion from another day of deception weighed heavily on her shoulders as she made her way back to her assigned quarters. She had deliberately chosen the room at the far end of the servant housing, tucked away from prying eyes and bordering the dense forest line that surrounded the pack territory.
The walk gave her time to observe once again how generously Alpha Theodore treated even his omega staff. The accommodations were far better than most pack leaders provided. A bitter smile twisted her lips at the thought. Soon enough, she would reduce it all to ashes and rubble.
The clock tower chimed ten times as she finally reached her door. Every muscle in her body ached from maintaining the careful facade she had perfected over weeks of preparation. She slipped inside and immediately secured the entrance, turning the key twice and drawing the heavy fabric across the windows to block out the silver moonlight.
