Seraphine's POV
Kayne rose from his chair and walked across the room toward Chris. He settled down next to the devastated man on the couch. His voice was gentle when he spoke. "Did Antonia ever tell you her real identity?"
Chris stared at him with confusion written across his face. "I found her working at a strip club in the human district. We connected right away after that first meeting."
Kayne drew in a slow breath while Theodore kept his watchful gaze fixed on Chris, distrust flickering in his dark eyes. Finally, Kayne spoke the words that would shatter Chris's world.
"Antonia wasn't the person she claimed to be."
"What are you talking about?" Chris's voice turned sharp with alarm.
"She was someone deadly. Someone who made attempts on both the Alpha and Luna's lives," Kayne explained quietly. "Her true name was Becky. She was the daughter of Maxwell Johnson, one of the council members from Mistwood pack. She was never Joanna."
Chris's jaw went slack with shock.
