Chapter 1 - Spaghetti

*Daniel Kim *

Saffron regretted breaking up with Amelia.

If he had a second chance, he would do everything he could to get her back.

He would get on his knees and apologize for everything he said to her. He would tell her how sorry he was a million times and show her just how much she meant to him.

But it was too late now. Amelia was dead.

And actually, so was he.

They were both dead.

The only difference was that unlike Amelia, he was reincarnated into a new world named 'Earth' that was very similar to Thrae except it didn't have magic.

But Earth didn't need magic. It had something far more impressive called technology.

Saffron had no idea why he was sent here. Was it because he treated Amelia badly? Did God decide to send him here as punishment?

This wasn't really what he expected hell would be like. After all, he was now Daniel Kim, a rich, successful, handsome man and the heir to the Kim Group.

If this world functioned like Thrae, Daniel Kim would be considered the Crown Prince of the empire.

That's how powerful the Kim Group was.

But at the same time, this was a world without Amelia. And any world without Amelia was hell.

'What?' Daniel stumbled back, staring at the system that suddenly appeared in front of him.

[Mission: Reject hana yoon

Reward: fragment of Amelia's memory ]

'Fragment of Amelia's memory?' Daniel thought, he was already planning to reject hana, so this aligned perfectly with his goals.

Daniel gazed softly at the tranquil lake, cherry blossoms swaying gently around him. A bittersweet ache filled his chest as the scene reminded him of afternoons with Amelia in Thrae, sharing picnics beneath similar blossoming trees.

"Sir, it's time for you to head back to the city," his assistant said, rolling down the windows on the car behind him.

cedrics voice brought him back to reality.

"Tsk, why do I have to marry that woman?" Daniel snarked.

Cedric had been nagging him about the engagement party the whole day. Daniel basically had to beg him to relax here for a bit. Sometimes it felt like he was Cedric's assistant and not the other way around.

There was no way he's going to get married. Amelia was the only woman for him. He couldn't imagine marrying anyone else.

"Can you please refrain from calling Miss Hana 'that woman'? She's going to be your wife," Cedric sighed, looking at his watch.

The engagement party was in a few hours, but Daniel chose to chill in front of the lake as if it were any other day. He had hoped that arriving late would leave a bad impression on Hana and make her call the wedding off.

After all, he couldn't call off the wedding since his grandpa would cut off his inheritance. So he needed Hana to do it.

"Nah bro, I'm getting divorced," Daniel smirked, replying to Cedric as he closed the door after sitting in the car.

"You can't get divorced, Daniel. You're not even married yet," Cedric sighed, switching to a more casual tone now that they were alone, while starting the engine.

He had a point. Daniel couldn't get divorced without marrying her, and he would rather not do that in the first place.

"My bad, I'm going to stop this marriage in the first place," he corrected himself. Daniel was determined to get Hana to call off the wedding.

*Hana Yoon*

"I'm going to stop this marriage," Hana smiled, sipping her iced latte while sitting at a cafe.

"Why?!" Ara slammed her hands on the table, causing Hana to get some coffee on her shirt. "You could marry Daniel freaking Kim!"

Ara couldn't understand why Hana was so against marrying Daniel. He was rich, famous, and handsome. What more could she want in a man?

"You made me spill some coffee on myself..." Hana pouted. "Guess we will arrive even later to the party." She smiled happily.

Just like Daniel, Hana had no interest in the engagement party. The engagement was in a few hours, and here she was drinking coffee in a cafe.

"Ugh, I don't understand you, Hana. Why are you like this?" Ara said, feeling like she wanted to pull her hair out.

"I told you, I already have someone-" Hana said before being interrupted by Ara.

"Yeah, yeah. Prince Spaghetti or whatever." Ara rolled her eyes.

"He wasn't a prince! He was the son of a count. And Spaghetti was his last name, his first name was Saffron," Hana corrected her.

"Couldn't you think of something better? Why is his last name a type of pasta?" Ara sipped her coffee, looking Hana dead in the eyes.

"Pasta didn't even exist in that world," Hana said, as the waiter placed a bowl of spaghetti on her table. "Oh, thank you!" she smiled at the waiter.

"I think you just like spaghetti too much, Hana," Ara sighed. "You only get random scenes of him in your dreams, right? If you actually came from another world, then why don't you remember your own name?"

Hana slurped her spaghetti, getting tomato sauce all over her face. Ara had a good point. Why did she remember Saffron but not herself?

She could easily recall his spaghetti-like blonde hair and tomato-like red eyes, but she couldn't recall what she looked like or who she was.

"Are you enjoying your spaghetti, Hana?" Ara asked, looking at Hana who was getting tomato sauce all over her shirt. How could a grown woman act like this? She was definitely doing it on purpose.

"Yeah, it's really good," Hana smiled, looking at her bowl of spaghetti. "I wish Saffron was here to enjoy this."

"Yeah, OK, but you do know I have a spare shirt for you in my purse, right?"

Hana frowned. It seemed like showing up to the engagement covered in tomato sauce was no longer an option.

"But do you have a shower for me in your purse?" Hana replied, slurping the spaghetti in a way that got it all over her neck.

Hana didn't care as long as it left a bad impression on Daniel and got him to call off the wedding. Whether she arrived late because she needed a shower or because she showed up covered in tomato sauce.

"'The Heiress to the Yoon Group shows up to her engagement party covered in tomato sauce! Stock prices plummet." Ara said. "Does that sound like a good headline to you?"

She was usually very conscious about her image as the heiress to the Yoon Group, so Ara was very confused by her behavior.

'Is she going through second puberty? Why does she hate the thought of marrying Daniel so much?' Ara wondered.

Ara looked at her watch; they had an hour before the engagement party started. They needed to leave now if they wanted to have a shower and still arrive on time. Ara grabbed Hana by the wrist and dragged her out the door, leaving some cash on the table.

"Nooo! My spaghetti!" Hana said. "Please, let's at least take the spaghetti with us."

"No time. We need to head back now," Ara replied, glaring at Hana.

***

Daniel arrived at the engagement party 30 minutes late. That's as late as he could manage to be with Cedric nagging him to be on time.

'This should leave a bad impression on Hana,' he thought, but to his surprise, a woman stepped out of the car right behind him.

It was Hana Yoon.

"Sorry, did I make you wait? Were you about to leave now because you were sick of waiting?" Hana asked, pouting at him mockingly.

"Not at all," Daniel gritted his teeth. "In fact, I just arrived right now myself." He smiled.

This wasn't what he expected, and he was a little annoyed that Hana had the audacity to show up late too.

Hana flinched. "I see." What kind of man shows up late to his own engagement party?

It seemed neither of their plans worked out since they both ended up arriving at the exact same time.

"Fancy seeing you here, Miss Hana." Cedric smiled as he got out of the car. "Shall we all get going?"

"Of course," Ara smiled at Cedric, opening the door. "This way, Hana."

Daniel and Hana entered the venue at the same time, and everyone turned to look at them.

"Ah, look who it is!" Grandpa Yoon, who was standing next to Grandpa Kim, smiled.

They were drinking champagne and chatting about how happy they were that they would be in-laws.

"If it isn't the soon-to-be bride and groom. We were wondering where you were," Grandpa Kim said.

"Did you two arrive together?" Grandpa Yoon asked eagerly.

"No—" Daniel said before being interrupted.

"Of course they did! Daniel is a good boy, so he would obviously give his fiancée a ride," Grandpa Kim said proudly.

"Hohoho, how kind of you to give my granddaughter a ride, Daniel," Grandpa Yoon shook Daniel's hand.

Well, this was awkward. If either of them knew it would be like this, they would have made an excuse to arrive later than the other so it wouldn't look like they arrived at the same time.

'Tsk, I knew I should have slashed the tires,' Hana thought.

"It was my pleasure, Mr. Yoon," Daniel forced a smile onto his face. He may not want to marry hana, but he couldn't lose face by denying his grandfather.

"Just Grandpa is fine, my boy," Grandpa Yoon smiled. "We will be family, after all."

'No. Absolutely not,' Daniel thought, flustered by the grandpa's request.

"Cheers!" they clinked glasses "To a happy marriage!"

'Absolutely not!'
