The man stared at her for a moment, slightly taken aback. Then he let out a soft, almost nervous laugh, as though her concern had brushed too close to something personal. He looked away briefly, humming under his breath before speaking again.

"You would have to ask him," he said at last. "And if he does not answer you, press him. Some men believe they have all the time in the world to understand what they truly want from the woman they love." His lips curved faintly. "You should remind them that they do not."

"You mean?" she asked, genuinely confused.

"Pressure him. Frighten him a little," the man replied, his smile widening in a way that was both playful and unreadable. "Do not forget to tell him that you can leave."

Her brows knit together. "But I will not leave," she said at once, a crease forming between her brows. "I do not wish to burden him with more scars."
