Evangeline didn't remember how she managed to leave Hades's room. She only recalled seeing him smiling calmly as she walked out from the room, his smile lingering in her head but his words, that were always so gentle for the first time pierced her like never before.
It had hurt so much that even soothing while rubbing her chest didn't work. She let out a brief sigh, her pace moving faster to her room until she finally caught sight of the maids that had never appeared in front of her before.
She had a sneaking suspicion that they were tasked to never see her, and that task must have been from Hades.
Not because he didn't want to make her uncomfortable, just so she wouldn't repeat the same mistake she did by asking for work from one of the servants. She told herself the reasoning again, to school herself from thinking that Hades's kindness towards her was special.
As she watched the maids, she could hear them talk.
"Don't you think so?"
