Chapter 2 - The Wedding

I stood outside the church looking at the door which was the only thing separating me from seeing what was inside..I couldn't breathe, maybe it was because of the corset that hugged my waist so tightly or maybe it was because of the different emotions I felt..Sadness, nervousness and fear.

People referred to him as the devil himself..a man who knows no mercy..a man who killed his entire family just to have the throne..a man who was used in storybooks to make children scared..a man who was disgusted by women because he was gay..and yet here I was walking into the lion's den..he was the King of the most feared kingdom..King Christopher Martinez..a man who was hours away from being my husband.

Not many people had the chance to see him, myself included, but the few who did never came back to tell his story..All I could do was envision how he looked like..I remember my cousin Sophia telling me of how unattractive he was," he has scars all over his face with an eye patch caused from all the wars he'd be in and people say he looks old with grey hair and missing front teeth"..I don't know if she said this to make me more scared but it was working..I guess prince charming only existed in fairytales..sigh

Please welcome the princess of Asadavi, princess Jackline..I heard them say which snapped me out of my thoughts..the doors between me and the church finally opened..I clenched my fists so hard that I could feel it dig deep into my palm..my legs were trembling and my hands shaking..I kept reminding myself to breathe before I passed out..Remember your mission

The hall was filled with people from different kingdoms..I could hear them murmur..I didn't need to get close to hear what they were saying.. "she's the sacrificial lamb, her parents sold her to the demon himself " they whispered..they looked at me with pity and I couldn't blame them.

I gathered the little strength I had left and started walking down the aisle..eyes on the ground, ignoring the whispers that sorrounded me and kept reminding myself that it would all be worth it in the end..but maybe it wasn't..was it too late to turn back now?

"My princess "a hand stretched out to me..I slowly lifted my head to see the man infront of me..When my gaze met his everything stopped..the room was suddenly quiet and all I could see was him..His hair was a turbulent sea of silver and gold, catching the light like sun on glacial ice. And his eyes-they held the piercing, impossible blue of a high-altitude sky just before dawn. His lips red and his skin was every woman's envy..the man in front of me was breathtaking..he looked like a god..was this the man they referred to as the devil?

I stood there my legs rooted to the ground..I couldn't move..just stared at him in admiration..I was in a trance..Princess..Princess..Prinnceesss..The priest called and finally I managed to get back to reality..I took his hand and the vows began..
