Chapter 2
The Nightmare..
As soon as the clock struck 12, Linda could feel someone standing over her.
Trying her best to go back to sleep and ignore the figure beside her, but the more she tried to shut her eyes the closer the figure came.
Linda opened her eyes and sat up forcefully.
Linda sat in the room feeling alone, the room was extremely huge. She got up and turned up the nights.
Feeling reluctant to go to bed Linda decided to study Dammys Diary.
*Dammys Diary..*
Today is my birthday, and everyone is extremely happy except me the celebrant.
Today I was to meet the one I was betrothed to.
The young master Simeon. He was said to extremely wealthy but something in me felt otherwise.
I do not trust him at all, but whatever I do. I do it for my family and the engagement must go on.
As Linda read Dammys Diary, she wandered if her mother knew of the contents before handing it so easily to her.
"What's that sound?." Linda closed the diary hid it under the pink sheets and went downstairs.
The sounds became louder as she crept closer she saw two men whispering in low voices.
Linda tightened her ear to listen.
"I thought you got rid of her, of Dammy, how is she still alive?." One man spoke to the other.
Linda could not tell which was the boss and which was the goon.
" I think there is a mix up sir, I am sure Dammy is dead, her body was also found and buried."
Linda gasped and stumbled, using her hands she hit the vase beside her clumsily.
"Whose there?." The men asked in unison.
Linda ran as fast she could shutting the door of her new room behind her she jumped into the bed and covered her body including her head.
*Present**
"What sort of dream was that, it looked and felt so real?." Linda asked herself and went downstairs. Getting closer to the kitchen, she saw the broken vase on the floor.
"What happened here?." The servants asked one another as they cleaned the environment.
As soon as they heard her footsteps, the servants shivered and greeted.
Linda walked passed them searching for Alex, she needed to speak to somebody now.
Was it all a dream, did she sleep walk, or did this truly happen.
"Dammy, Dammy!!." Linda turned around and searched for the one who called her the voice was very familiar..
"There you are, you look as pale as always if not worse." Alex commented.
Linda smiled she admired his lip gloss and lashes, his long nails. How could a man pull that off when she a girl could not.
"Can I ask you a question?." Linda asked meekly.
"Listen you are the boss not me, shoot away!." Alex snapped his fingers in the air.
"How did Dammy die?." Alex blinked his eyes rapidly. He never expected her to ask such a question.
"Was she really involved in an accident, or was there more to her death?."
Alex immediately dismissed Linda's curiosity.
"Oh my dear, since when did you become a detective, how I'm I a servant supposed to know.
If you have any other questions, you need to ask the mistress."
Alex turned around and asked Linda to follow him upstairs, to continue training.
The young master could arrive anytime and startle them.
"Now you are so calm and gentle, and that's a bad thing. Dammy on the other hand was full of sass and authority."
Alex picked up the glass and threw it on the floor. The shattering pieces alerted a maid nearby.
Running to the scene the maid accidentally stepped on a piece of glass.
Alex stopped Linda just in time.
"Rule no1., Always be extremely unapologetic."
Linda with sorry eyes watched the maid limp away after cleaning up the mess Alex had just made.
"Listen, I understand you want me to behave exactly like Dammy, but this is too much for me. I don't think I can do this anymore."
Alex laughed, and stopped when he saw her serious countenance.
"Listen, hehe, you have already come into this house, introduce yourself as Dammy. Do you realize the consequences of backing out?, you could end up in jail."
Linda sat on the bed sad, and confused she knew that she had really fallen into a trap.
All these years no one chose her for adoption, and when some people finally do, it's to use her.
But then, the broken vase was she dreaming or did that stuff really happen, something was just not adding up.
" I was the one who broke the vase this morning." Alex added..
"How did you know what I was thinking?." Linda questioned staring not into his eyes but his girly hair.
"You were staring at it,you've being doing so all day."
Linda threw a suspicious stare at Alex, who blinked rapidly. Was she able to trust him.
She simply believed and nodded for the sake of her sanity.
Suddenly the door opened.
"Young Master Adrian." Alex shivered and left the room.
"You are here, are you stalking me?." Linda asked the young master Adrian.
"It seems so, I do have the right. Now can you tell me how you felt after the incident. Your stay in the hospital and all.
Or did your amnesia affect that too."
Linda blinked her eyes rapidly, was he suspicious of her. Why would he come in suddenly and ask her all these?.
"What's even weirder is your father's silence regarding our wedding. Is he delaying this on purpose?."
Linda held her hands together, unable to find the right words.
"Tell your father to come see me, or this wedding will be called off. I have had enough patience."
The young master walked out of the room, as soon as he opened the door Alex almost fell to the door.
The young master simply shook his head and left.
"Why don't you people just tell me the real truth behind what I'm doing. I am not your puppet!."
Linda yelled at Alex.
