Lucia's POV
My eyes blinked open. Where am I? I tried sitting up appropriately but my hands betrayed me. They were weak.
I managed to do so and sat up, scanning the whole place. Everywhere was damn dark. With nobody around or no one around.
My body was itching me. Soaked up with sand. I started cleaning it up, from my head down to my feet.
My mind quickly darted to what happened previously and I recalled every bit of it. Maybe I was in the playground.
I tried standing up but I was weak. At each standing posture I make, I fall back to the ground. I tried for what seemed like thirty minutes before I was able to regain my stamina.
My stomach started grumbling, churning, and making a lot of noises. I was hungry but where can I get food?
I started using my hands as eyes to feel and touch everywhere I was going. As I moved out of the playground, I started seeing bit by bit.
The place started becoming clearer. I could see the gate before me and it was opened. I cannot go back to the cell now, if that fat lady, Madam Betty should see me, she might force me into doing other chores.
I think I should just find a place, maybe under the tree to rest my head for tonight. I moved out of the gate and started walking to where I did not know.
Flashback.
A few steps away from the building, there was a clearing outside and that place seemed to have cold refreshing air oozing out because of the small stream present. I started moving to the place.
There was a broad road with trees at the sides that led to the place. I passed through it slowly. It reminded me of Mom and Dad and how they played with me when I was ten.
At that time, there was peace in the Dark moon pack. Everyone respected each other. There wasn't anything like bullying to any member of the pack, irrespective of their ranking.
It was after the death of the Alpha without a son, that his wicked brother, Ethan's father, Alpha Lucas emerged as the Alpha of the pack. Then, he started a division of the pack by rankings.
From that time till now, everyone in the pack started bullying one another. Children, teenagers, youths, and adults.
A young child of about ten years can bully or bring down a family of six because of his rank. Whether he is from the Beta family or Alphas. No one cares.
The Alpha had already commanded that everyone should start giving respect to the family members and properties that belong to high-ranking individuals.
My family originated from the bloodline of Omegas and was regarded as the lowest-ranking of wolves. A time came when there was war between our pack and a pack which I do not remember because I was so small then.
What I was after was just to eat in the morning, go to school, and sleep off. That was the only thing I was doing by then. I had no other concerns or worries about life till their death struck me hard.
One afternoon, I went out to play and before I could return, my parents were in the pool of their blood in our sitting room.
I was dead-struck and surprised by what was before me. How did this happen?
I sat on the ground close to the two of them crying. I tried raising them but their bodies fell weakly to the ground. It was done already. They were dead.
The news of their death spread like wildfire fire and in the evening of that day, Alpha Lucas came to the house. His face was cold and ruthless.
It was as if he had mixed emotions on his face. A part of him was happy while a part of him was annoyed. I could see the emotional turmoil on his face.
He and some other people who came to visit in the pack filled the house and after some time, they started leaving. When it was dark, he was the only one present in the house with me.
I was scared because we were alone. By that time, some group of men had already come to take the body of my parents to the mortuary.
"You are coming with me punk!" He spat, narrowing a hateful gaze at me.
"No sir. I can live all by myself here in my parent's house." I retorted.
"You cannot and do not argue with me. I am not your parents. Go get your luggage."
I shrugged. "I do not want to." But he stood up suddenly and started coming closer to me.
Then, he yanked up my chin, "Listen, child, if you disobey me now, I will teach you a great lesson this minute. Remember, I am not your parents."
Fear enveloped me as his angry face turned into a sinister smile and laughter at the end. I stood up and started moving back.
"Where do you think you are going to?" He asked.
I didn't give him an answer. When I saw I was facing the door leading to the rooms in the house, I quickly ran into mine, locking my door immediately.
"Guards!" I heard him say, "Get that child out now and bring her to me! "
My heart started thumping loudly in my ribcage. I didn't know what to do. I pushed my reading table to my door, aiming to add support to it but with one push, the guards were able to break through the door.
They grabbed me and dragged me to the palace that night. It was from that moment, that my agony started till now.
I reached the open place stream was in. Everywhere was cool and lovely. The whole scene was actually peaceful. A place that I could call home now. My eyes darted to a big tree nearby, with large branches on it and I walked to it.
