The sound suddenly rang in his mind. "Where did that sound come from?" Asked Maxwell as he looked around himself, wondering.
"What sound, you filthy trash. If you don't get to work I will come beat you up!" Drake, scorned at Maxwell.
Maxwell shook his head lightly as he was just about to continue walking a huge amount of data began to flood his brain.
"Crackle!"
"Congratulations Player Maxwell Gillette for making first blood. Reward is 1 XP, 0 mana..."
"Congratulations Player Maxwell Gillette for successfully activating the Level Up System. Would you like to view the Character Profile?"
"Congratulations Player Maxwell Gillette for activating the games cultivation reward system. Would you like to view the rewards tasks?"
"... What's going on here?"
Maxwell simply nodded to the series of crackle sound in his mind as he thought. "View." As if on command, the system opened up a translucent screen in front of him.

"Hahaha..." Maxwell laughed uncontrollably. "The game is just marvelous, a level up system. I'm going to be rich and ascend." Maxwell's laughter attracted Drake's attention who looked at him like someone who had finally lost it.

Maxwell's face and crazed laughter made him look like he had really lost it.
After playing so many video games and watching anime, he instinctively knew what those sounds meant. There was no doubt this was the regular system from video games.
For him this was everything and more. Killing beasts, completing quests. He was too familiar with all this.
Maxwell was depressed from the start after realizing his present condition. A trash that would never amount to anything, he was of no worth but now... Everything was changing and he had the power.
"I don't know how to cultivate but killing to level up, now that is something I can do. Foolish Drake, Vincent and Lena. All who ridiculed me shall pay." Maxwell clenched his fist as he bit his lower lip. He had begun to release a new aura. Drake who was close by only just observed.
"You'd better come here you little trash. This stable isn't going to clean itself." Drake suddenly appeared in front of Maxwell as he landed on him a subtle kick.
Maxwell almost fell to the ground but regained his stamina quickly. He was just about to charge at Drake when suddenly...
"Crackle!"
"Quest Obtained: Clean the stables. Reward: 30 XP."
"Accept/Decline"
Maxwell smiled as he looked up at the quest. He could level up faster if Drake gave him more quests. This was truly remarkable.
"Accept!"
If this was the price he had to pay, then he was willing to do so. Now he just had to level up and he had to do it quickly and not allow a common stable steward to make him look like trash.
He hurriedly picked up the cleaning tools as he set off to complete his first quest. While cleaning he was cautious not to let any insects get away. Every single XP counted.

The notification sound continued to pop up whenever he earned a reward.
Increasing at 1 point at a time Maxwell didn't let go of a single insect, soon he was done and the stables looked as good as new.
"Drake, the stables have been cleaned. What am I to do next?" Maxwell behaved like an obedient pup as he smiled at himself. "This should be my submission."
Drake quickly left his chambers to go check, hoping to find something wrong but he was only met with a surprise. "Since you're done why don't you go get food for the horses, bring 20 canes of grass."
"Crackle!"
"Congratulations Player Maxwell Gillette for completing the quest. Reward: 30 XP added."

"New quest available. Cut 20 canes of grass. Reward: 50 XP."

Every single XP counted as Maxwell swelled with joy, quickly grabbing a straw bag and rushing out. On his way he encountered some insects which he didn't hesitate to add to his kill list.

Maxwell suddenly began to feel a change in his body as he began to heal rapidly, soon he was as good as healthy. "Who would have thought that I would get the hack. Hahaha..."
Another series of notifications began to sound again.
"Congratulations Player Maxwell Gillette on Leveling Up. You may now receive a Martial Technique as reward: Dragon Beast Palm, Disappearing Steps, Time Glitch. Please make one selection."
"Wow!" Maxwell was shocked. Once he saw the list of skills he forgot about his small insects. He quickly opened the description folder for each of the martial techniques.
"Description of Martial Techniques: When a player gets to attainable levels, rewards will be added as martial techniques. All martial techniques are techniques used by protagonists of different games and novels."
"The names of these skills..." Maxwell began to search for the names, seeing popular names he was familiar with and the ones he only just held onto the title. Once he found his mark he let out a wicked smile.
"Martial Technique: Dragon Beast Palm. Description: Control dragon beast strength on one arm and release consuming fire from the other hand."
"Martial Technique: Disappearing Steps. Description: Grant Player the ability to hide his move."
"Martial Technique: Time Glitch. Description: Grants Player the ability to rewind time backwards for up to 10 seconds."
"All Martial Technique can be upgraded as the Player levels up."
These skills were all too powerful for Maxwell. Making a choice was very hard since they all had their uniqueness and he could utilize any of them he selected. Maxwell just blinked as he made his selection...
"Crackle!" The notification sound went off.
