Chapter 221 - Chapter 221: Of Course We Kill Him!

Morbius, suspected of having turned into a vampire, possessing echolocation abilities similar to Gotham's criminal Man-Bat;

And Max Dillon, covered in electricity, who also gave Batman a strong sense of déjà vu.

The former's echolocation ability could be weakened by noisy environmental sounds, while the latter could be short-circuited by water.

Batman dispatched the Batwing into the clouds. Creating artificial rain by dropping silver iodide flares would kill two birds with one stone.

Wherever the rain fell had now become a battlefield. On one side were Batman and Tony Stark; on the other were the yet-to-appear Electro, the vampire, and Green Goblin.

"Tony, commence operation." Batman walked to the edge of the Empire State Building and spoke to Tony, looking at the city beneath his feet.

Wearing the brand-new Mark IV, Tony Stark didn't fly away immediately. Instead, he glanced doubtfully at the Batwing in the clouds, then at Batman's cape flapping in the wind.

"You can't fly?"

Batman glanced at Tony Stark.

"I investigated all the cases in New York over the past few days. There isn't a single trace of Max Dillon's involvement."

"Try not to engage him in conflict. You aren't catching a criminal, Tony."

Batman did not answer the question about whether he could fly.

If necessary, Batman could conduct operations across sea, land, and air with the help of the Batwing and the Batmobile.

This was under the condition that Venom had fallen into a dormant state. If it were still active within Batman's body, Batman could conduct combat operations within an altitude of five hundred meters relying solely on physical strength.

Whether he could fly or not wasn't that important to Batman.

"Don't worry, I don't want to fight that guy covered in electricity anyway," Tony Stark said, while secretly noting the fact that Batman couldn't fly.

If I ever become enemies with him, as long as I keep my distance and engage in air-to-ground combat, Batman will have no way to fight back, Tony thought to himself.

Saying no more, Tony Stark curled his lip at Batman, who was posing coolly at the edge of the Empire State Building, then turned and flew toward the marked point on the map.

Amidst the howling wind, rain poured down.

Batman waited here alone for the appearance of Morbius and Harry Osborn.

Raindrops fell onto Batman's suit and cape, pooling together like water on lotus leaves before sliding off rapidly.

One minute, two minutes.

Just as Batman thought the Bat-Signal alone couldn't attract Harry and Morbius and was preparing to initiate another method, two figures—one green, one black—appeared on the top of a distant high-rise.

They looked in the direction of the Empire State Building, sizing up Batman who stood alone in the fierce wind. Batman was sizing them up at the same time.

After observing for a dozen seconds, the two in the distance seemed to make up their minds. One stepped onto a Green Goblin Glider, while the other glided continuously using the wind. One after the other, they rushed toward the Empire State Building at high speed.

Batman stood motionless, only furrowing his brow when his ears caught the sound of Harry's twisted laughter.

In the blink of an eye, Harry Osborn and Morbius climbed along the high walls of the Empire State Building, arriving on Batman's left and right.

The putrid stench of sewers and the smell of blood hit him in the face.

Morbius's appearance was almost identical to the portrait Batman had hand-drawn in the Batcave; gray-black skin wrapped around bones, with almost no visible muscle on his body.

Harry Osborn was dressed in a completely different getup. He was wearing a full suit of Green Goblin armor, with the Goblin Glider hovering at his side. The twisted smile on his face was exactly the same as Norman Osborn's.

Flanked by Harry and Morbius on the left and right, Batman remained unmoved at the edge of the building, speaking first:

"Harry Osborn. Michael Morbius."

Batman's deep voice called out their full names, causing both men to pause for a moment.

"Oh, you know Little Harry?" Harry Osborn grinned, revealing eerie teeth. "Too bad he's not here. I'll pass your message along to him."

Morbius no longer showed a trace of the melancholy poet temperament he once had. With disheveled hair and a mouth full of fangs, he looked more like a bloodsucking devil.

His voice had also become somewhat hoarse, sounding extremely discordant amidst the crashing rain: "I thought 'Batman' was just a New York urban legend. I didn't expect such a guy to actually exist."

Batman listened to their heartbeats and smelled their breath. His Spider-Sense also raised the hairs on his body in a frenzy amidst waves of palpitations.

He could sense that Harry and Morbius held great hostility toward him. That was why, upon reaching the top of the Empire State Building, they immediately flanked him, ready to attack at any moment.

Like Norman Osborn, Harry also developed a Green Goblin persona after injecting the Super Soldier Serum, and the Green Goblin has suppressed Harry.

I cannot yet determine if Morbius also has a split personality, but since they didn't attack immediately, perhaps I can try to resolve this through language and psychology.

Batman quickly assessed the current situation and spoke: "I am here to handle your matters at the request of Peter Parker."

Hearing the name Peter Parker, the hostility coming from Morbius seemed to weaken a fraction:

"Peter?"

"Oh, oh, oh, Peter!" The Green Goblin's voice remained shrill. "Where is he?"

Batman calmly judged their mental states from their reactions:

"Before Peter left, he entrusted your biological data, personal relationships, and his deepest concerns to me."

"He asked me to stop you from destroying yourselves, and to stop you from hurting everything he loves."

Morbius let out a "huk-huk" cold laugh, a sound as if his throat had been slit.

Harry Osborn, who should now be called the Little Green Goblin, stared dead at Batman's eyes with his green eyes, a trace of anxiety appearing on his face:

"Where did he go?"

The Little Green Goblin repeatedly asked about Peter Parker's whereabouts. Batman's voice remained steady:

"You want to find him?"

"Of course we want to find him," Morbius laughed coldly.

"To do what?" Batman pressed.

The anxiety on the Little Green Goblin's face couldn't be faked:

"I am his brother. He disappeared without a word; shouldn't I find him?"

"As for what happens after I find him..."

The grin on the Little Green Goblin's face gradually widened, stretching almost to his ears, his shrill voice exceptionally piercing: "Of course, it's to kill him!"

Morbius revealed a mouth full of fangs. In a flash, he appeared at Batman's side, the sharp claws of one hand pressing against Batman's back, right over his heart:

"Right, of course we kill him. What else?"

Morbius's voice had barely faded when the Little Green Goblin swiftly pulled a green longsword from behind his back and charged at Batman, his shrill voice ringing out simultaneously:

"As for you... You personally sent my father to prison and caused his disappearance. Killing you counts as avenging him, and it's a perfect chance to give up the title—let our vampire be Batman for a few days!"
