Chapter 1 - Chapter one:the hard truth

The view was blurry but the sounds were distinct, the hard cackle of fire burning steadily in a fire stand, the view extended moving slowly forward until it rested in the middle of the most feared of figures_the pentagram with its six sided angle carved neatly in gold seeming to slowly melt. The sounds that at first sounded like the cool whispers of a becoming wind came on firm like the whisper of voices and then a firm one came with a violent wind"destined"

She gasped loud enough to call the attention of the people around, her sight adjusted adapting painfully to the bright surrounding 'you are okay now honey'the voice was familiar,it was her mother's,she had her short blonde hair tied in a bun permitting a view stands to fall on the sides of her face. She steadied her hazel eyes on her mother's worried face. 'am I?' she asked painfully, her voice was barely loud enough for the next person to hear. Not knowing what to say her mother only smiled and gently helped her to sit up. She winced a little and then looked down at her hands, she was wearing a cannular

'you stayed longer than we expected honey' her father spoke rubbing gently on the back of her palm 'how long have I been out?' she asked 'it doesn't matter now Rhida' her mother answered softly before her father could reply 'i only want to know' she pressed staring intently at her mother 'one week, and four days' her father answered forcing her to look away from her mother, she looked back at her palms trying hard to recall what happened before she got into a hospital bed in God-knows-where. The loud Blair of an ambulance siren echoed in her memory so hard and clear like it was driving down a path in her brain and then a flash if memory set in..her mother's pale face white against the blue cardigan she wore she was holding on to her hand trying to meet up with the speed wheels of the stretcher she was placed on,a faint glimpse of of the hall way of her school in which the whole thing occured and then she suddenly remembered, she looked back at her dad 'how did you know something was wrong,I was in school right?' 'yes.Mrs Adams contacted my office line said you weren't breathing fine' she sighed and carefully tucked her hair behind her ears.'i really can't tell how it started.I just couldn't breathe and everything felt so much like it was closing in and then I passed out' she stopped and looked back at her parents,to her it felt so much they were trying to hide something from her 'what did the doctor say..I know something is wrong with me'. She asked but to her surprise she got no quick response, there was tension in the atmosphere 'dad?'she called questioningly 'honey please don't start dreaming up theories that you're dying,no you're not'her mother spoke from where she sat 'si what's wrong..I have been out for eleven days.Something should be wrong with me at least' 'darling_'her father barely ended when he was cut abrupt by the opening door. A stout man of about thirty walked in neatly dressed with a lab coat over his outfit 'ms Lesley I'm glad you're awake now,how are you feeling my dear?' 'I feeling better. At least I'm not fighting to breathe' he smiled nicely 'I can understand asthma is all about breathing issues and allergies but I'm sure you'll be able to handle it' the last of colour drained from her cheeks, her heart sank 'I_I'm asthmatic?' there was alarm in her voice, she took her gaze from the doctor to her parents who to her looked so much like statues wearing human flesh. She felt a sharp pain in her heart 'asthma isn't the end of life dear. There's always a way to maintain it...Take your pills on time_'he said shaking the white container he held that the pills Inside rattled loud enough for her to hear '_and always remember to have this with you wherever you go it can come in handy'he ended waving the inhaler at her.She pressed her lips into a thin line to fight back the threatening tears 'so that I can't be normal without pills and inhalers?'she asked even though the answer was staring back at her she knew the obvious truth, she was going to be fragile..and how she hated feeling fragile. There was hurt in her tone and her mother was quick to notice it it hurt something inside of her. The doctor parted her shoulder gently 'i know this is hard for you to take considering you love to dance.I assure you ms Lesley you could still dance only that you have to be more tender with yourself' "Euphemism!!"she yelled in her thoughts. If that was to make her feel better then she knew it sure didn't work and she felt even worse realizing those words were only for consolation. The said nothing else to avoid an outburst while the doctor turned to her parents who has been silent all through the duo's conversation ' Um Mr. Lesley hope you don't mind coming to my office.Let's talk' 'oh sure,no problem' Ann, Rhida's mother got up too while Rhida managed her way out of bed and then started to change.'you want me to help?' she asked forcing both father and doctor to pause at the door. Rhida glanced at them and back to her mum 'u can dress up my self I'm fine ok n my own' she didn't sound mean but still it stung some where inside her

'It is surely going to be tough for a girl like Rhida but she needs encouragement from you both. She has to stay away from dust strong scents, cold, too much work' he paused and refered to Anna personally 'I am sure you can handle it more than you spouse can' she managed a little smile 'yeah, yeah I can'

... Rhida remained alone in the SUV parked in the hospital's lot,she knew for sure that her life was going to change starting from knowing she would have to stop the only thing that made her happy;dance. She looked at what sat beside her, a brown paper bag in which she knew the contents..it was something she clearly hated_ drugs and inhalers. She sucked in enough air and quickly let it out when she thought she felt a sharp pain pierce her heart. She looked ahead of her, fixing her eyes on nothing exactly but then the faint cackle of a burning fire torch echoed in mind seeming to take her away from the real world. The sound lasted for about three seconds before a quick flash of the pentagram drawn in liquid gold set in wiping out the views of cars around. She gasped startled at the opening car doors that it forced her parents to pause for a moment ' are you okay back there' her father asked as he settled Infront of the steering, she didn't answer because she didn't know what to say either. Her mother sighed and shut the door 'honey everything is going to be_' 'no.no.mum I'm really not in the mood for that,I just wanna be quiet

Returning home made her feel worse because it forced her to remember that she might return to school once she was strong enough and it bothered her,she didn't want to go back to the same school after all that had occured.

'there is left over spaghetti in the microwave.you just sit right there in the dining room and I'll bring you lunch' instead of sitting she walked over to the fridge her hand remained on the handle. 'i am not hungry'she said flatly 'darling you just got out of the hospital and haven't eaten real food for a while now'Anna said remaining in between the walls of the dining room and the kitchen. 'it is kinda your fault y'know' she shot back hotly Charles sighed heavily 'Rhida-'. 'an acute asthma?!'she exclaimed cutting him before he could continue '_since when? I have been perfectly fine,so fine until last week's she said tears gathered around her eyes Charles sighed again. ' your present condition is none of our fault or yours either' 'you were still going to find out about ithus health condition..it was some where inside you her mother put in gently even though her heart yearned to cry out loud 'well maybe it couldn't have happened so disastrous with me coldly bullied and struck hard on the chest_yoy you don't know what that feels like,do you?' there was a dominating silence that was eventually broken by Rhida's Swift movement reaching up to the stairs and was soon out of sight.Anna sank back into a chair and used both hands to hide her face as if to hold up her growing frustration. She exhaled and then felt Charles hand on her shoulder 'hey, hey don't get yourself worked up okay?,she just can't handle it yet' 'it feels so much like she hates me now' she said lifting her dad eyes to him.He smiled consolingly and kissed the the top of her head 'no,she doesn't hate you darling'
