Ficool

Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

Harlem's POV

What the hell? What did he just say? "I know you heard me, I said I can give you a good time sweetheart, we will be back before you know it" I turned to the man. The man appeared to be in his forties or fifties with a protruding belly, a disgusting smile that made me inwardly shudder at what brought that smile to his face and the odour of alcohol flooding my nose. I scrunched up my face "It wont be the first time I was promised a good time, but what makes you think I'd like to confirm that with someone like you, shouldn't you be at home with your wife and kids? "I said looking down at his glistening left gold banded hand with a scowl. The man which very obviously came here to cheat on his wife and wallow in self pity turned beet red "Is this how you talk to customers at this bar, I wan to speak to your manager!!!!" Closing the bottle of whiskey I was about to pour for him again I sighed, "Sir I think its time for you to leave, you've had one too many especially if you're assuming the bartender for a hooker" I said with a sultry smile. Standing abruptly the man looked like he might slap me but a hand on his shoulder stopped him "She's right sir, maybe for once you could try going home early, ill escort you". Breathing out in relief I smiled at Giovanni, our bar manager and nephew to the owner of the bar. Who knows how bad this could've escalated with the drunken man, I was already having a rough night, I was NOT going to be nice to the alcoholic today. Slapping his hand away, the drunken man turned towards Gio, "Sais who?!!" he spat. Gio sighs as well, guess I'm not the only one having it rough, "TEE!! We need you" he shouts. Ted, our bounce who is about 6 feet with the scariest muscles ever jogs over. I'm surprised he heard Gio with all the noise and music everywhere. The drunken man turned his red eyes towards Ted and paled. He blinked a few times, then adjusted his shirt a size too small, and huffed "Ill escort myself out". He walked away, but not before giving me a glare, I smiled at him and gave him a wink. Crisis Averted, Thank Christ. "You okay Har? He didn't touch you did he?" I looked back to Gio who was looking at me worriedly and searching my body as if to see if I was spewing blood from anywhere. " I'm fine Gio. Thanks a lot, what could I have done without you?". Gio's look turned mischievous, "Apparently, insult him till he gets up and leave or better yet, apologise". Wow, my reputation precedes me. "I'm literally so sorry, its been a long day". Brushing me off, "Stop, he's the one to be apologizing, whatever he said to you, I know he deserved what he got". "Thanks Gio and thanks Ted" I said smiling sweetly. Ted grunts and gives me a thumbs up, a man of many words. "Anytime" Gio walks away.

Well, that could have gone worse. Looking at the time I realise I have 30 minutes till my shift is over, at this point there are just a handful of people left in the bar. Its about 11:31, the bar closes by 12, we don't do all night at this bar, there's a lot of questionable people going to bars from 12am and we wont like to experience them. And this town is not exactly the safest place in Berlin. I serve a few more people, get tips (at least they're good tips), and finally turn the closed sign, switch off all the lights, and wish Gio a good night, guess he's staying back to do some work in his office, he's managing this bar and has a small clothing line he just opened up called "GioFits" ranging from sports outfit to streetwear to official wear and even kids clothe, I'm so proud of him. Ted walks me to my car and I also say goodbye to him, he's such a sweet man. I was really going to miss the bar when I found greener pastures. Speaking of greener pastures, I wonder if any of my job applications came out successful. Ever since I moved to this town, I've been trying to get a better job than the bar but I guess work competition here is much. I sigh as I drive back to my one room apartment, I need a nice chilled glass of champagne with a bathtub soak while watching some anime. I arrive home and quickly get out of my car, take a shower, eat some food, watch some episodes of solo levelling, then I journal and do some more research. I've always wanted to be an actress/runway model for as long as I can remember, my mother used to be a model but she stopped when she got married to my dad, apparently my dad wanted her to focus more on being a wife and a mother, she had to put her dreams on a hold and eventually she couldn't go back anymore because well, you change once you have a baby, and she had me and my twin elder brothers. But I don't have any experience in the sector which is quite discouraging because I studied Business Administration in College on which I was on a scholarship, and I recently just graduated college before I moved here, so its quite difficult but I'm not in the business of giving, I need to become somebody, I can't afford to fail.

I sigh and fall onto bed staring at my ceiling, I looked around my room, it was small but compact with white and black themes just how I like it, a mini LED TV, a fluffy rug and Bimmy, my guineapig who sat in a corner in his cage. It was a nice apartment, not so cheap but good, I still wanted to move into someplace bigger of course but I was also grateful that i wasn't in worse living conditions. And with that I'm motivated to keep trying as I fall deep into sleep. If only I had the power to see into the future maybe tomorrow won't be so bad.
