"Mom, I hear a shaking sound." Tyler whispered.
"D... Don't worry dear. It is nothing, the town defenders will protect us. We just need to stay inside and safe." His mother replied with fear in her voice. A man could be heard yelling from outside. It sounds as if he is gathering men.
"Put Tyler in the in that spot. The noise is getting loud and I may need to help out. Just stay safe for now." Tyler's dad said to his wife. He went to get more confirmation on the noise. He left with his family's treasured sword with a sapphire gem placed in it. He went with the other men who were coordinating a blockade and formation to combat monsters.
His mother went to the kitchen and grabbed a cup and put water and a powder in it. "Here son, drink all of this. Do this for mommy." Tyler tried drinking it, but he hated the taste. "I know it taste bad, but you need to drink all of it." His mom helped force it down his throat. And shortly after drinking it, everything went dizzy and suddenly it was black.
Hours later.
Tyler wakes up but everything is dark. He doesn't know where he is and he starts crying very loudly. Scared and terrified. He cried for what felt like hours to him. Pushing at the walls and looking for a way out of the cramp, dark space he was in. After much time has passed, he heard faint voices. "Dad! Mom! I'm scared. HELP!" He heard the voices get closer and then suddenly, he saw light. He could see one face, a large face with a large beard. It wasn't his dad. Scared, he tried reaching, but there was nowhere for him to flee. He was at the mercy of these strangers.
"We have a survivor. It is a little boy, he looks healthy." The man then picked up the object that was blocking the hole, a refrigerator. Someone else came to pick him up. Another man picked him up and looked to check for any bruises or cuts. The large man put the refrigerator down and came over to look at the boy. "This is surprising. He has no bruises and more importantly, no blood on him." There was a collective sigh of relief with everyone. Tyler was still scared and not sure what to do, but he felt nothing would happen.
When he finally looked around his home, he noticed it was in ruin. Doors were ripped off, walls punched through, a complete mess with debris all over. He was in a corner that was made of brick and there were barely any signs of attacks on anything made of brick. All his toys were stepped on, the food was either smashed or gone. "Put this blindfold on the kid, he doesn't need to see the outside." Tyler tried fighting but wasn't successful and the blindfold was put over his eyes. The outside was covered with bodies and blood everywhere. His mother was dragged outside and killed, as there was a blood trail from inside of the house leading out. There was no one left alive. The group of five men were used to scenes like this.
"There's no signs of anything else to save. It was a miracle we found this boy." The bearded man said. "For now, I'll take responsibility for him, I'm sure I can find him a nice home with a loving family. It'll be hard, but this kid has been through enough." The others nodded in agreement. They gathered their supplies and the four other men headed one way, while the bearded man took Tyler with him into another direction. Once they were completely away from the town, he took the blindfold off of Tyler and let him walk a little.
"Who you?" Tyler asked the bearded man.
"Everyone calls me Ray, and what's your name brave man?"
"Tyler" he whispered.
"Nice to meet you brave Tyler, I'm going to take you somewhere nice and safe." Ray said has he reached out for Tyler's hand.
"What about mommy and daddy?" Tyler whispered still.
"They had to rest. They kept you alive and it used all their strength, they are resting. Maybe one day, we can come back to talk to them." Ray said knowing Tyler would never get to see them again, but he didn't want to scare him. They walked away with a rising sun in front of them. Tyler had never been up so early to see the sun rising.
"The sun is waking up!" Tyler said loudly.
"That's right, it's a new day for you, Tyler."
