Chapter 3 - The Grand Heist

Seeing the new fate hint, Enzo couldn't help but smile coldly.

Any man with self-respect would not choose fate hint one after seeing fate hint two.

Rather than being a bootlicker for Black Bear Tyrant and spouting a bunch of disgusting flattery, he preferred to try his luck at the Black Bear Vanguard's resource base.

Since fate had told him that his 1.2m/s movement speed would give him half an hour of maneuvering time, he definitely had to go to the Black Bear Vanguard's base.

Enzo didn't even need to ask where the Black Bear Vanguard's branch was located in Ravenwood; he found it by following the sign.

"Brother, stop!"

"Non-internal members are not allowed to enter the resource station. You are only an external member."

As soon as Enzo arrived at the Black Bear Vanguard's resource base, he was stopped by two guild members guarding the entrance.

Enzo couldn't see the specific information of the two people, but it was obvious that their level was extremely high.

But he was not in a hurry. He took out the "Canary" he bought from the grocery store from his backpack. This was a product developed by players after they established themselves in Infinity. It was not expensive, about 30 copper coins per box.

"Two big brothers, would you like one?"

Enzo handed over the cigarette with a slightly "honest" look.

The two goalkeepers looked at each other, and saw contempt and disdain in each other's eyes.

At their level, why give them garbage like Canary?

However, considering Enzo had joined the Black Bear Vanguard at only level 1, he must have some background.

After all, the new players in Little Ravenwood were just their slaves, and few joined the guild.

So, Enzo's offer of a cigarette was a courtesy.

The two men smiled and took the Canary cigarettes Enzo offered them.

"Brother, is there something wrong?"

"As long as it doesn't involve some privacy and authority, brothers will tell you everything they know."

Enzo was just trying it out, but he didn't expect that he would actually be able to strike up a conversation, so he immediately said what he had prepared long ago.

"Brothers, I found a hidden area outside of Ravenwood. There's a huge amount of Fluorescent Grass there, but my backpack only has 9 slots, and each slot has a maximum of 9. I thought I'd come over here and see if I could make some connections and borrow a bigger backpack."

Every new lander will have an initial backpack, but it is very small, with only 9 grids and a maximum of 9, which can hold up to 81 items.

The two goalkeepers looked at each other and their minds became active.

"Brother, I wonder how many Fluorescent Grasses there are?"

"What kind of hidden area can a level 1 like you enter?"

The two gatekeepers whispered. Despite their impressive status in front of Enzo, they were, to put it bluntly, just larger cattle and horses. If there was truly something to be gained, a little micromanagement wouldn't be a problem. They were all from their own guild, so how could they be cheated?

Enzo smiled. The knowledge he had learned from textbooks in this life finally came in handy.

"Brothers, this is a spatial rift. It's very safe and stable. I risked my life to get in and take a look. It's full of Fluorescent Grass from level 1 to level 10, some of which are even over a meter tall."

Enzo looked around cautiously.

The two goalkeepers looked at each other, golden light flashing in their eyes.

Although Fluorescent Grass is only the most basic material for making "small mana recovery potion" and is cheap, you can still make a lot of money if you use it in large quantities.

"Are there really that many? Are there some over one meter tall?" The two goalkeepers became curious.

The Fluorescent Grass is more than one meter tall, and it is at least level 30 or above.

Once this level of Fluorescent Grass is picked, the price is not cheap.

"Brothers, I'm just a level 1 player. How dare you joke about something like this?"

"Actually, I can report it to the guild. I know I can't finish this amount, but I figure every bit counts."

"Two big brothers, could you please help me?"

Enzo spoke cautiously, observing the changes in their expressions while handing each of them another Canary cigarette and making the number three on their palms.

The two of them understood immediately and shook their heads.

"The quantity is too small. Take the cigarettes back and try this one, brother."

The two of them each handed Enzo a "soft cloud," which cost as much as 1 silver coin. The first time you draw it, you can permanently increase your attack by 1 point, your health and magic points by 10 points.

As they handed the "soft cloud" to Enzo, they made the number seven on Enzo's palm.

How could Enzo not understand what the two meant? He deliberately put on expressions of "pain," "reluctance," "hesitation," "difficulty," etc. on his face. Finally, he gritted his teeth.

"Okay, let's do as the two elder brothers say."

"But I want a big backpack. The bigger the better. After all, once I sell the first batch, the guild will basically know about it. Then there will be no profit to be made."

The two goalkeepers did not rush to answer Enzo. Instead, they asked Enzo to guard the goal for a while and went to the side to discuss privately.

"How do you say that?"

"He was able to join the Black Bear Vanguard at level 1, so he must be trustworthy. Besides, how could a level 1 guy really cause such a stir? I think we can do this deal. Lend him the Radiant Backpack in the resource library. One night's work should be enough to make a fortune."

"That's a brilliant quality backpack. If the guild leader finds out, we'll be in big trouble. The risk is quite high."

"There's no risk at all.

He's already joined the guild, so the guild leader must have personally approved it.

Otherwise, our branch guild would have such a crappy guild system that anyone could join.

Besides, the drop rate for silver coins is inexplicably low right now.

If we don't grab them now, there won't be any left.

I say, the timid will starve to death, and the bold will die of gluttony.

This one's a sure thing.

Lend him the Radiant Backpack, and you'll get 70% of the profits.

Even if it's all Level 1 Fluorescent Grass, that's 99x99, 10 copper coins a plant.

How much is 9801? And how much is 70%? Don't you have any idea? And this is just one trip.

What if we make more trips?"

9801x10 equals 98010, which converts to 98 silver coins, and 70% equals 68.6 silver coins. This profit is very substantial for them.

"Okay, then I'll lend him the Radiant Backpack. If he fishes for it a few times, he'll probably get some gold coins."

Greed makes people crazy. After the two men finalized the deal, they decided to take a gamble.

Soon, the two returned to the door, stole the Radiant Backpack and traded it to Enzo.

"Brother, I'll lend you this backpack temporarily, but you have to return it to the resource library when the time comes. Got it?"

The two men spoke in a stern voice, but their eyes were fixed on Enzo. As long as Enzo showed a hint of greed, they would capture Enzo and take back the Radiant Backpack.

Enzo suppressed his inner ecstasy and showed a simple joy on his face.

"Don't worry, big brothers. I wouldn't dare even think about using props of this level. I'm only interested in making money."

"Don't worry, brothers. That area is very safe. Just wait for me to harvest."

Seeing that there was nothing wrong with the young man Enzo, the two expert players felt relieved.

Come to think of it, how could such a newly logged-in player escape the sharp eyes of these veteran players who have been through the ups and downs?

But no matter how much they calculated, they could never have expected that Enzo was a time traveler who had lived two lives as a human.

Not counting the youth of this life, didn't you struggle enough in the society of the previous life?

Holding the dazzling backpack, Enzo didn't even dare to look at the attributes. He was calm in his haste, looking back every three steps, nodding to the two goalkeepers, and leaving their sight little by little until he completely disappeared from their sight.

"Haha~"

Away from the Black Bear Vanguard's resource center, Enzo couldn't help but chuckle.

He wanted to see what level the backpack of brilliant quality was.

Enzo's gamble paid off. He got a brilliant-quality backpack with 99 slots, each with a maximum of 99, allowing him to carry 9,801 resources. He couldn't believe his luck, and he was even more determined to make the most of his opportunity.

He hid and waited until 2:00 AM, the time of the predicted attack on the Black Bear Guild. He arrived at their resource base at 1:58 AM, just as three figures in black robes appeared and initiated an attack.

Enzo saw his chance. He slipped into the resource base during the chaos.

Upon entering the resource library, a new temporary mission appeared on his panel: "Protect the Black Bear Guild's resources from being violated, and transfer the Black Bear Guild's resource points as much as possible." He was confused but quickly realized this was a golden opportunity. He immediately rushed to the deepest part of the library, where he found three items, all of which he put into his new backpack.

He acquired the skill "Raging Sea," the weapon "Great Sun Bow (Fake)," and some "ceramic pieces." He also received a reward of 3 silver coins for collecting resources worth 3 gold coins.

After that, he continued to "collect" resources, grabbing 1,000 small blue bottles and 5,000 small mana recovery potions, which earned him another 150 copper coins.

As the battle raged outside, Enzo looked at the time. He had been there for over twenty minutes, and he knew he had to get out. He gave up on filling his backpack completely and fled.

Just as he left, the enraged Black Bear Tyrant rushed in and saw the three missing items. He roared in anger, "Damn it! Damn it!"

Enzo returned to the scorching fountain and calmly checked his new skill.

Raging Seas

Quality: Complex

Cost: 50 magic points

Effect: Summons water elementals to unleash waves, dealing 2.0x magic power damage.

Cooldown: 15 seconds

Learning conditions: Water Mage, 100 water attribute reduction, and "Shui Lan Code" (a book that requires contribution points in Glow City).

The skill was difficult to learn, but Enzo was not discouraged. He looked at the other items he had stolen.

"This result far exceeded Enzo's expectations. He was now a Level 1 player with an attack of 46-92. This bow had no occupational requirements and no level requirements. All he needed was to meet the minimum attack requirement of 10 points. After equipping the bow, his attack soared from 16-32 to 46-92, a significant boost that would make his next leveling journey much faster. He also had an unknown ceramic piece and a brilliant-quality backpack with 99 slots.

He set out to upgrade his Flame Gloves skill. He used his mana potions to absorb the scorching flames. After many attempts, the skill finally evolved from Simple to Simple++, and its mana consumption was reduced. He was running low on health, so he returned to Bird Town to buy more potions.

Back in town, he overheard players talking about the Black Bear Guild's raid and the stolen items. He was smug, knowing that he had the loot and that the guild had no way of tracing it back to him due to the loss of its "Guild Heart."

At the grocery store, he met a plump woman who was selling potions. He asked for 100 red bottles and offered to buy a skill book with his 3 silver coins. Just as he was about to make the purchase, his "Destiny Hint" talent activated, revealing a new secret.

It turns out that the value of currency in the game is in flux due to the rise of the Sword of Light. The woman was trying to cheat him, as the exchange rate between copper and silver coins was no longer 1,000 to 1, but rather 100,000 to 1.

Enzo now faced a choice: either pay the inflated price or try to negotiate.
