Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Words "Thank You

At the bustling intersection, taking advantage of the red light, Mo Jingchun glanced at the rear-view mirror and saw Mo Jingchun in the back seat holding a child.

In terms of Jing University being a top-tier institution in the country, they've certainly had orphan students before, and over the years, there have been more than just a few.

But for one who lost both parents and was also bringing a baby less than a year old, Jing University was encountering this for the first time.

When the school's academic affairs office received Mo Jingchun's call and learned the detailed situation from Mo Jingchun's high school, the school and the faculty leaders held an emergency meeting that night.

Considering Mo Jingchun's actual situation, the faculty originally planned to provide Mo Jingchun with a single room dormitory because staying in a four-person room, firstly, other students might not be willing, and secondly, it was not quite appropriate for a little baby girl to stay together.

"Just let Mo Jingchun and his sister stay in the apartment assigned to me by the school, anyway, I don't often stay there."

As Li Na said this in the meeting room, the room fell so silent you could hear a pin drop.

"I think it's doable."

"Makes sense."

What else could they say? After all, she's a young lady of some means, who, in her first year at the school, bought a house over 160 square meters across the street from the school.

On the twenty-some kilometers road from the station back to school, Li Na went back and forth, taking more than an hour.

Occasionally taking this route normally takes about fifty minutes at most.

Through the car window, Mo Jingchun saw many people already on campus.

"Your senior students have started returning to campus one after another a week ago, and during summer vacation, many students choose to stay at school. After you've been here a while, you'll know these things."

Mo Jingchun nodded, understanding that in the future he probably wouldn't go back during summer vacation, but would choose to go home for the New Year during winter vacation.

After all, no matter what, you have to go back for the New Year.

Li Na parked the car outside the apartment building, engaged the auto brake, turned back, and smiled at Mo Jingchun, "We're here, get off."

As soon as Mo Jingchun got out of the car and walked to the back, he saw the heavy suitcase being effortlessly lifted out of the trunk by advisor Li Na with one hand, followed by the removal of the stroller.

Li Na flicked her hair and saw student Mo Jingchun standing there dumbfounded. She smirked and said: "I'm a regular at the gym. If you stick to your workouts, this weight won't mean much to you either. Even if you don't work out, in a year or two, this weight won't be much to you."

"Let's go, the dorm is on the sixth floor."

Following the advisor's steps into the apartment building, Mo Jingchun felt something was off.

Seeing the elevator, Mo Jingchun was even more surprised. Do Jing University dorms all have elevators? How come no one mentioned this online?

When the advisor opened the door, Mo Jingchun was taken aback and immediately realized why something felt off downstairs.

First, so many students were walking around the campus, but this apartment building seemed deserted. Second, it was too quiet, just too quiet.

"Come in!"

Mo Jingchun awkwardly replied:

"Teacher, this isn't the student dormitory, right? The internet said Jing University's dorms are four-person rooms with bunk beds."

"Oh, you did your homework?" Li Na teased.

"Okay, come in. This is indeed not the undergraduate four-person dormitory. This is the teacher's apartment, which I currently use."

Locking the door, Li Na led Mo Jingchun to a room on the right as you enter, "You and your sister will stay in this room. I stay in the next room, although most of the time I won't be here, maybe three or four days a month."

"Oh, by the way, except for my room, you're not allowed inside; no other restrictions. You can also use the kitchen."

"But... do keep the apartment clean, or I'll get mad, and the consequences aren't pleasant."

"In a few days, there will be a half-month-long military training for new students. I suggest you participate." Li Na paused and added, "I'll watch your sister at that time. As for your decision, just let me know by the 5th."

"Usually for classes, you can take your sister with you to the classroom. I've already communicated with all your teachers for this semester, and there's no problem. However, keep in mind, just ensure there's no crying during the classes."

"Oh, and you have to cover the water and electricity bills as well as the heating fees in winter. I'll send you the account information later."

Li Na rested her chin on her hand and recalled, "Let me think if there's anything else I forgot to mention."

"Never mind, too lazy to think right now. I'll let you know when I remember later." She twisted her neck, "Go tidy up your room; there's a blue bag in the living room with your freshman package in it, including quilts and everything. I'll go to the cafeteria to get you something to eat."

Mo Jingchun, holding his sister Candy, listened to the advisor talk for quite some time without any sign of impatience.

Just when Li Na was about to leave for the cafeteria to get some food, Mo Jingchun spoke.

"Teacher."

"Hmm?"

"Thank you."

Li Na waved her hand, "It's nothing; I didn't really do anything. But if you're truly grateful, then study hard. The day when your teacher is proud of you will be the biggest thank you to me."

"But, that's nice to hear."

After Li Na left, the room returned to silence. Mo Jingchun didn't clean up immediately but stood there dazed for a while.

In less than two months, it seemed he said "thank you" more times than he had in the past decade.

Placing his reluctant sister Candy into the stroller, Mo Jingchun started tidying up.

In the green bag, there were two quilts, a mat, a pillow, and pillowcases, covering the essential living supplies.

"Ya ya ya~"

Candy in the stroller was bouncing and babbling.

While making the bed, Mo Jingchun glanced over, continuing to make the bed while smilingly saying, "Brother."

"Ya ya ya~"

"Brother"

"Ya ya ya~"

"Brother"

...

Mo Jingchun patiently taught his sister Candy to speak word by word.

When Li Na returned from the cafeteria, she walked in to find them repeating this exchange, her face initially smiling, but gradually, her smile faded, replaced with a look of empathy.

When most children utter their first words, it's usually "Mom" or "Dad," but for this little one, it became "Brother."

Knock, knock, knock~

Upon hearing the knock, Mo Jingchun turned to see his advisor standing at the doorway.

"Eat first, clean up afterward." Li Na gestured to the food in her hand.

Mo Jingchun nodded, "Okay, Teacher."

Handing the food to Mo Jingchun, Li Na said:

"I'll head off first; contact me via phone if anything comes up."

...

A few minutes later, Li Na returned, "I forgot to give you the keys."
