Chapter 2 - Wife...

Delia's pov

Looking at the lady who just came in with a bag, I blinked twice. She walked towards me with a worried face. "Madam, are you okey?" she asked and touched my burning forehead. "Oh my goodness, you have a fever," she spoke in a worried voice and dropped her bag down and opened it. She picked some herbs from her bag and gave me one. "Chew it," she instructed. I took it from her hand and took a close look at it before a name popped in my head. "Divine herb," I studied the herb closely, remembering how Mabel Cline described it in her novel.

"Chew it, it is not harmful," she encouraged me, and I nodded, putting the herb in my mouth. I chewed it slowly, the bitterness filling my mouth, almost making me spit it out, but I didn't because I remembered reading in the novel that after the bitter taste, the ending taste of it will be very sweet, so I kept chewing till it became sweet, confirming my knowledge on it.

When I swallowed it she got up and poured me a glass of water to drink, which I did. I looked at her closely again. She was a minor character in the novel, but she did something annoying.

She later drugged Sage in the novel, making him lay with her, and from there she became pregnant and bore him a male child, while Sage's wife became pregnant after four years of her delivery, making her compete for who's child will inherit Sage's fortune in the future. To Sage's wife's misfortune she gave birth to a baby girl and died months after she gave birth, making this doctor move in and marry Sage. But when Sage found out that his wife's death was not ordinary and connected to the Black Sword Kingdom, he became so wicked and killed everyone responsible for it and kept terrorizing the country's peace, shaking the main lead's life in the novel.

Looking closely at the lady, she was beautiful, but according to the description of the novel Sage's wife was far prettier than her. I studied the lady as she picked out some herbs, placing them aside. Then Sage came in and looked at me, his brow furrowed. He walked towards me in big strides and touched my face, cleaning my tears, and before I could think he hugged me. His embrace was warm and suiting, and again I remembered everything, causing me to sob in his arms. He gently patted my back, making me feel better.

When he withdrew from the embrace he wiped away my tears and sat close to me and faced the doctor who wouldn't take her eyes off him. Staring at her, I wished to poke my fingers in her eyes. Since I am Sage's wife for the time being, I won't allow her carry out her evil plan.

"She has to take this and this starting from tomorrow and next," she said, pointing at some herbs she arranged on one side.

"Tell the servants to boil it for four hours and serve it warm," she instructed, and Sage nodded.

She placed them on an empty plate on the table and covered it with the lid. She took a look at me; I frowned at her and watched as she ignored me. She bowed and left us alone.

"Are you feeling better now?" Sage asked, and I nodded in reply.

"Don't worry, I have them bury your parents in a good and quiet place where they'll find peace," he added, making me stiff, and I remembered something. Sage's wife's parents died on the day of her wedding because the lady Sage intended to marry used sorcery against Sage, and when he realized it he called off the marriage. So when the wedding with his current wife was going on, her parents could not attend because they were attacked on their way by the same lady, and later on, after the wedding ended, they found their bodies rolled down a cliff, which made Sage's wife become unconscious when she heard the news.

So... that means she hadn't consummated their wedding? I thought, and then placed my hand on my body protectively, causing Sage's brow to rise in question.

"Are you—"

"I am fine, don't come closer," I spoke hurriedly, creating a huge distance from him and making him more confused. Wait? Am I a fool? Ain't I supposed to feel sad because my parents in this world are dead?

I let out a deep breath. "Sorry for that, thank you for everything," I spoke sincerely, causing Sage to smile.

"Anything for you," he spoke and got up. "I'll go instruct the servants on what to do about the medicine," he added, and I nodded. He picked the plate and left as I stared at his back. Sage is a handsome and caring man who loved his wife dearly, and not only that, he is damn wealthy.

But why would I be the villain's wife instead of the protagonist's wife? Am I going to die a tragic death here too? I was lost in thought... No! I won't! I won't allow this novel decide my fate. I will change my fate since I am knowledgeable of everything in this novel; I will use it to my advantage.

Taking deep breaths, I lay back as my eyes felt heavy of course it's the side effect of the divine herb. When I woke up it was dark outside. I got down from the bed feeling good like I was never sick. I looked out of the window and figured out it was snowing outside, but inside was warm due to the beautifully placed chimney at the far end of the room. The outside view was amazing; several beautiful buildings stood around the house I was staying in, and I remembered the name: "Blade Domain." It's the name of this territory and it's all owned by Sage.

The occupants of the other buildings are Sage's brothers who are paying to stay there. Still lost in the scenery, I felt a strong arm wrap my waist, causing me to gasp in surprise, then I heard a low, seductive whisper sending shivers down my spine. "Wife..."
