Wigglytuff took a deep breath, its entire body swelling several times over, floating up like a hot-air balloon.
It was kind of like taking to the air, but without Flying-type energy backing it up, so its flight speed was… painfully slow.
A pretty big opening.
But that was exactly what Green wanted.
Her Wigglytuff was flying this slowly—Grey, are you really going to resist the temptation and not have Heracross seize the moment and land a hit?
Green blinked, a crafty glint flashing in her eyes.
She was betting—betting that Grey would definitely go in close and fight Wigglytuff head-on!
As Wigglytuff lifted off, Heracross kept its eyes locked on it the whole time.
No other reason—Wigglytuff was already big, and now it had inflated several times over. It was making Heracross's hands itch.
A living target was practically dangling right in front of it. There was no way it didn't want to beat it up.
But Grey didn't give an order, so Heracross didn't dare move rashly.
It was afraid Wigglytuff might set it up, and it wouldn't even know how it lost.
The field fell into an eerie calm as Wigglytuff slowly drifted closer to Heracross.
Seeing Grey still not giving a command, Green grew impatient and sharply pointed forward.

If Grey still had Heracross block with Brick Break, she had another move ready.

And if Grey chose to have Heracross tank it head-on, then fine—she'd trade damage for damage.
Either way, Green wasn't going to take a loss this time!

This time, Grey didn't choose to clash head-on.
He chose to minimize the cost—and have Heracross escape Hyper Voice's range.

A heavy impact sounded out as Wigglytuff was smashed straight down toward the ground, dust exploding outward on impact.
Wigglytuff hit face-first after taking the blow to its back. Meanwhile, Heracross hovered in the air, the glow on its arm shifting from white to brownish-gold as surging Fighting-type energy began to replace the Flying-type energy!
"Brick Break!"
In a situation like this, Brick Break really was the best move.
Heracross delivered. Its insect wings buzzed violently as it dove with the momentum of a plunge, aiming right at Wigglytuff's back.
Those arms—strong enough to split soundwaves—were already primed to strike again!
But Green fell strangely silent. Then, only when Heracross had closed to a dangerously unavoidable distance, she suddenly blossomed into a confident smile.
"Wigglytuffy, right now—use Sing!"
The command came at the perfect moment—exactly when Heracross had dashed in so close that it couldn't evade!
If it got hit, Heracross would definitely fall asleep!
Green's grin grew wider, as if Heracross were already a trapped bird with nowhere to run.
"Huh? Why doesn't Grey look surprised?"
Just as Green expected Grey to show a shocked expression, she realized his face was completely calm.

Wigglytuff let its voice ring out, releasing soothing notes that made you drowsy as they drifted into Heracross's ears.
Instantly, Heracross's eyelids closed.
A rhythmic snoring sound came out of its mouth.

"Phew, looks like… wait, what? What's going on?! Why is Brick Break still coming?!"
When Green saw Heracross fall asleep, she was about to relax—but the moment she noticed Brick Break's power hadn't dropped at all, her pupils trembled.
Not only was it not weaker… it even looked like it was getting stronger?!
Is this something a normal Pokémon can do?!
Green almost wanted to curse, but she didn't even know what to say.
Her brain felt like it was going smooth from how ridiculous Heracross was.
Whatever. She got it now.
Grey just didn't have any normal Pokémon.
BOOM!!!
That strike landed squarely on Wigglytuff's back. After taking hit after hit, it was barely holding on and almost lost the ability to battle.
Good thing it was naturally tanky—basically a walking HP sponge.
Otherwise, it might really have gone down from that one.
But right now, Wigglytuff was in awful shape.
Because Heracross's ability was Guts—when it's affected by a status condition, its Attack rises by 50%. And since it was asleep, its Attack had climbed to a frightening level.
Meaning that Brick Break just now did absurd damage.
Now Wigglytuff looked like it would drop from even a light touch.
"Sleep Talk!"
Grey's final command rang out.
"zZ…"
Still asleep, Heracross slowly rose, its horn blazing with dazzling white light—then it ruthlessly smashed downward!
Wigglytuff collapsed on the spot, unable to continue battling.
[This one's like… trying to be clever and getting outplayed.]
[Honestly, that girl got robbed. Who the hell stays asleep and still throws hands like that?!]

At the very least, she couldn't use status tactics anymore. With how hard Heracross hit, she'd just be digging her own grave and speeding up her loss.
"Right! I've got it!"
Green's eyes lit up. She remembered she still had another Pokémon. She pulled out a second Poké Ball and tossed it onto the field.
"Pipi, I'm leaving the second battle to you!"
The Poké Ball opened midair, and a pink Pokémon with wings landed on the ground.
Judging by its look, its weight was only 0.1 kg lighter than Gengar.
