"N-no… nothing." Liam Shaw hurriedly shut his mouth.
He remembered perfectly clearly: ever since Ethan started tenth grade, he'd been constantly changing tutors. The ones who lasted longer could teach Ethan for one or two months; the short ones basically said goodbye to him after a week.
There had never been a single tutor who managed to leave their contact information with Ethan, and even got Ethan to call them on his own.
Ethan glanced at Liam again. Seeing that he'd gone quiet, he finally pressed the call button.
After two rings, the call was picked up, and Vivian York's bright, pleasant voice came through the receiver: "Hello, Ethan."
"Vivian." Ethan called her name with a blank expression, his voice cool as he said, "I'm calling just to tell you we've got a monthly exam this afternoon, so we can't have our session."
"Huh?" On the other end of the line, Vivian was clearly taken aback. "Can't have the session?"
