Maya Monroe walked over and sat next to Monica Jacobs. Her eyes and brows were slightly downcast, her expression showing some softness and obedience.
Monica Jacobs extended her hand and held Maya's. She was half lying on the bed, her eyes clear, her voice tinged with pity: "Maya, you must be very tired from taking care of me these few days?"
Maya shook her head: "It's good that you're awake."
"Things have been a bit chaotic lately, I only just managed to sort my thoughts out. It's been hard on you, watching me lose my mind..."
"You mustn't say that." Jasper Monroe came over holding a fruit platter: "Here you go again, muddling things up, don't scare the children."
Monica still held Maya's hand, paused for a moment, then smiled: "You're right, it's all me being muddleheaded."
She turned to Maya and said: "Maya, my health has improved a lot, you should hurry back to your work."
Maya naturally refused but couldn't resist Monica's firm attitude.
