Chapter 2 - Meeting Elyssia, but...

In a dilapidated wooden house covered in dust, as if it had been abandoned for a long time, a teenager dressed in martial arts uniform was lying asleep on the floor, drooling.

He suddenly opened his eyes wide and looked around suspiciously.

"Where is this?" Morgan muttered.

He felt his body was strange, weaker than before but much younger.

Moreover, he was now wearing a white kimono instead of his mission uniform.

Seeing the water jar in front of him, he hurried over to take a look and was extremely surprised.

His face had become younger.

No, something was wrong.

It was a young man who looked exactly like his former self.

His mind held no memories, as if this body had just jumped out of a rock.

Morgan looked around for anything unusual and discovered a tomb not far away.

He approached the tomb and saw only a simple stone marker and an old katana stuck straight into the ground beside it.

***

The one chosen by the sun

The world's greatest swordsman

Lucien Solborne

***

Morgan didn't know if this information was real or fake, his gaze was fixed on the katana.

He wanted to pick it up and examine it, but the image of Elyssia's death flashed through his mind.

The hands that had once wielded the katana to cut through iron like mud were now trembling, afraid to touch the sword.

"Never mind, it's fine not to touch it. I came here to find her, not to walk the path I once did." Morgan sighed.

He was about to go down the mountain to see where this place was and begin searching for her.

Even if it was as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack, he would absolutely not give up.

This was the reason he continued to live.

Suddenly, a man in a suit emerged from the forest.

One hand carried a bottle of wine, the other held an umbrella to shield his head, even though it wasn't raining.

He was tall and slender, with a handsome face and the aura of a movie star.

But his eyes were strange, blood-red like a monster's, not human at all.

"A thousand years have passed in the blink of an eye. If human life were just a little longer, it would be better. Lucien, you were clearly stronger than me back then, yet now your bones are gone.

Amaterasu, once mighty enough to slay all demons, is now nothing but scrap metal. When will someone like you appear again? I've waited so long, so very long."

He treated Morgan like air, then walked to the grave, sat down, poured some wine onto the ground, and drank the rest.

"Have I met a demon?" Morgan thought.

His words made Morgan feel afraid.

Could a being that had lived for over a thousand years be human?

The answer was obvious without even thinking.

He feared that the person before him would kill him, and then he would have no chance to see Elyssia again.

"My life is endless. Soon, very soon. The day I find a way to take another step forward, to gain the power of both the sun and the moon.

Then I will be invincible. Ha ha ha ha! But even now, without you, I am invincible. Tell me, do I need to keep trying?"

The man was sometimes happy, sometimes sad, his moods changing so unpredictably that Morgan couldn't understand him.

He seemed like someone with great ambition, wanting to reach the pinnacle. Yet he also seemed like someone who had lost his reason to strive.

"This guy is too dangerous. Only a sneak attack gives me a chance to win. This body isn't weak either; I don't believe one sword strike won't kill you." Morgan though.

He resolved to bet everything on this one chance. If he failed, there would be no more opportunities.

He lunged forward, grabbed the katana's hilt, and drew the blade from its sheath.

Snap!

A crisp cracking sound echoed as Morgan's hand now held only the hilt. The old blade had shattered into pieces the moment he touched it.

The man who had been staring at the grave immediately turned his head to look at Morgan.

He bared his teeth, revealing sharp fangs, his bright red pupils trembling with rage.

"Scum, what right do you have to touch Amaterasu? Even if it's broken, that doesn't mean anyone can touch it!"

A terrifying force like hell itself was pressing down on Morgan, causing him to tremble uncontrollably.

Morgan had faced countless life-threatening situations before, but never had he felt so powerless as he did now.

No matter how strong his desire to find Elyssia was, he couldn't move even an inch against such overwhelming power.

Just as Morgan gave up struggling, a familiar figure appeared before him.

The tall, slender figure with silver hair cascading to the waist was so familiar.

"Elyssia, is it you?" Morgan asked, his heart both wildly excited and utterly hopeless.

In this vast world, he had quickly found her.

But ironically, the moment they met, an unstoppable monster appeared.

"Huh, you know me? Never mind, rest assured, the demon hunter alliance will protect the innocent people," she replied, her eyes still fixed on the man.

"Demon, how dare you harm innocent people in broad daylight. I will definitely make you pay." She shouted, her aura surging.

A cold force emanated from her, especially from her katana.

Morgan glanced at it briefly and felt as if his soul was about to freeze.

"Hmph, what nonsense are you barking about? That guy clearly destroyed my old friend's property—no, my old rival's property. I killed him to seek justice. What's wrong with that?" the man snorted coldly.

"Shut up, demons have no civil rights." Elyssia shouted, swinging her sword at the man.

Swish!

Elyssia's eyes widened. She hadn't felt the long wound that had appeared on her chest.

Morgan's whole body froze, his mind dragged back to the moment he had slashed her in the chest.

"No, don't!" he cried out in despair.

Seeing Morgan cry out, the man's expression relaxed considerably. This was the reaction he wanted to see.

"Despair, human? This is the price you pay for daring to touch what doesn't belong to you. Wait a moment, I'll send you to the other world. Before that, there's a show I want you to enjoy. Hahahaha!" The man laughed maniacally.

At this moment, he looked completely different from his polite appearance earlier. He had become so demonic that he couldn't be more like one.
