Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Restarted Again

"Damn it, restarted again?!"

In the candle-lit bridal chamber, Su Juan impatiently pulled off her red veil in her green wedding dress.

With a creak, the door was pushed open from the outside. Song Qianfan walked in, followed by a guard who closed the door.

He was extremely wary, with a composed face. If it weren't for his celebratory robe, he wouldn't look like a groom on his wedding day at all.

"This damn system, why is it silent?!"

A delicate female voice echoed in Song Qianfan's mind; his eyes were complex, and his thin lips were tightly pressed, yet he wasn't surprised that he could hear Su Juan's inner thoughts.

The woman before him, in terms of identity, was merely a merchant's daughter who happened to be seen by the Emperor, and she was bestowed in marriage to him, becoming the Heir Consort, all because she possessed a divine artifact called the "system" that could foresee the future.

To better keep her under control, the childless Emperor bestowed the marriage.

"Regardless, if I'm not hacked to death, I'll be worked to death!"

"This is truly inhumane."

Hearing this irritating voice, Song Qianfan walked up to Su Juan, his face darkened and his voice carrying a cold hint of menace, "I don't care what you plan, but now that you're in the Prince Mansion, behave yourself. We will only have the title of husband and wife; don't covet what's not yours, or your life could be in danger."

He warned coldly; if this woman hadn't interfered, the person he married today should have been the Chief Secretary's daughter, Liu Miaoying.

Su Juan looked frightened, her face turned pale, and her voice was timid, "I understand."

Only then did Song Qianfan's expression improve slightly; this woman was at least obedient.

The next moment, Su Juan's inner voice echoed: "Did a donkey kick you in the head?! Who would fancy you, just a pretentious jerk."

"Does this mansion not have a mirror, or did the heavens hold an umbrella over you when it showered brains onto humanity?"

"Such a big head, but no brain inside, still fixated on the Capital City's number one talented woman Liu Miaoying, as if writing a few poems and essays makes you attractive to girls?"

"Her heart belongs to Liu Xuan, her childhood sweetheart, an upright and renowned gentleman. Liu Miaoying isn't blind to choose you over him!"

Song Qianfan's face darkened, his gaze turning icy cold with killing intent bursting forth. This obnoxious, audacious woman!

"I wonder what the Old Emperor was thinking, out of so many brothers and nephews, he initially favored you, intending to establish you as Crown Prince?"

Song Qianfan was momentarily stunned upon hearing this, the Emperor initially favored him?

Initially?

What does this mean, would the Emperor change his mind to appoint someone else as Crown Prince?

Who?

"Pity, it's you who lacked brains, incapable..."

Vessels throbbed on Song Qianfan's forehead as he was again criticized for lacking brains. His fingers clenched tightly beneath his ceremonial robe, suppressing the urge to decapitate the woman before him. He sneered coldly, reaching out with cold fingers to pinch Su Juan's chin harshly.

"I don't care what capabilities you have, should you invite trouble to the Prince Mansion, I'll immediately have you taken to the palace and brought to justice!"

Su Juan endured the pain on her chin: "If I had any ability, I'd have chopped you into pieces by now!"

Song Qianfan snorted coldly; this marriage was of no benefit to him as he originally favored Liu Miaoying from the Liu Family.

But with the Emperor's decree, he couldn't refuse, and besides, knowing some details from Su Juan's heart wasn't entirely bad. Keeping her in the mansion was immensely useful for his current plans.

Yet it was dangerous, he couldn't let her interact too much with the Emperor, or too much leaked information would disadvantage him.

Thinking this, Song Qianfan released her roughly, causing Su Juan to lose her balance and fall to the ground by the bedside.

He glanced down at Su Juan, then stepped out of the room.

At this moment, Su Juan had no idea her inner voice had been fully overheard. She rolled her eyes, climbed up from the floor, removed her cumbersome attire, dusted herself off, lay down on the bed, yawned, unconcerned about someone walking in witnessing the scene.

For she knew, throughout this entire night, no one would come in to attend her, as Song Qianfan had ordered to give this newlywed Heir Consort a scare.

She couldn't understand how such a foolish man had the confidence to ascend to the dragon throne, nor could she fathom how the Old Emperor even chose him, eventually fell prey to traitorous ministers, led rebellions, foreign invasions, causing chaos throughout the land.

She knew so clearly because this was already Su Juan's third restart.

She had transmigrated from modern times after dying from overwork, binding with a system called 'Savior'. If she completed the system's task of saving this era, she'd be resurrected in her original modern body, returning to her world.

Along with a reward of a city center apartment.

An apartment, who could refuse that?!

She worked tirelessly, overtime, solely for an apartment, a small home where she could set her mind at rest.

It was simply as if someone handed her a pillow just when she wanted to sleep.

Initially, she thought the task was simple because the Old Emperor had no offspring, leading to a very unstable court situation; many had rebellious intentions. If she just killed off all those with such intentions, the Old Emperor could then choose a suitable successor.

The first time, she hid in the shadows helping the Old Emperor wipe out the rebellious Imperial Family members. The Old Emperor appointed Song Qianfan, the Heir of Prince Jing, as Crown Prince. After dying from illness, Song Qianfan ascended the throne, listened to traitors, killed many loyal courtiers, and his policies harmed many commoners, earning him the title of tyrant among the populace.

Foreign nations seized the opportunity to invade, Da Jin faced internal and external troubles, eventually destroyed, with the populace displaced; the task failed.

The second restart, the system malfunctioned a bit, but with some experience, it wasn't a major issue.

She entered the palace, guarding the Old Emperor, aiming to protect him and eliminate those with ill intentions, while preventing the Emperor from adopting the Heir of Prince Jing. Instead, she was granted marriage and sent to the Prince Jing Mansion.

Later, something happened, and the Old Emperor changed his mind, intending to establish the Heir of Prince Han as Crown Prince. Song Qianfan rebelled, killed the Heir of Prince Han, leading to the annihilation of the whole family, throwing them into prison, implicating her as a co-conspirator.

The Old Emperor died without an heir, the Imperial Family argued, courtiers began to dissent, internal and external strife ensued, the land was again thrown into chaos, and the task failed once more.

And now on the third restart, though she hadn't entered the palace, she was still granted this marriage, yet the system unexpectedly went offline, no way to contact it!
