***Cassius***
I woke slowly, awareness filtering back in pieces.
Warmth, solid weight around me, the smell of smoke from the dying fire mixed with cedar and amber.
Aldrik.
My eyes opened and I found myself pressed against his chest, his arms wrapped securely around me, our legs tangled together under the blanket he'd pulled over us last night.
Last night.
Heat flooded through me at the memory. The way I'd kissed him first, straddled his lap, the friction of our bodies moving together, the intensity of his gaze as I'd come apart beneath him.
The way he'd held me after and hadn't let go.
I stayed very still, not wanting to wake him yet. Not wanting to break whatever this was between us.
But even as I thought it, I felt Aldrik's breathing change. Felt the subtle shift in his body that meant he was waking up.
