Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Eight-Pack Abs

Lu Li was truly alarmed by the cold and fever he had experienced in the past two years.

He quickly got up, found some ibuprofen, took it, and climbed back into bed to sleep.

Perhaps because of the medication, he fell asleep without any issues.

One hour...

Three hours...

He had no idea how much time had passed.

In his groggy state, Lu Li felt a shiver running through his body.

He reached out to touch his body.

A scorching heat spread through his palm.

Oh no!

He was having a high fever again!

Shocked, Lu Li's mind cleared at once, and he immediately tried to get up to find fever-reducing medicine.

However, perhaps because of the sharply rising body temperature, he felt utterly powerless.

As soon as he turned over, he fell to the floor with a thud.

Lu Li struggled several times, but his limbs were too weak.

Forget about getting up; he couldn't even pull the blanket over himself.

Lu Li immediately realized something was wrong.

Normally, a fever wouldn't leave him too weak to even move his hand.

He began to panic and shouted with all his might, "Help... help!"

Perhaps he was too frail; his shout was fainter than a mosquito's buzz.

Now Lu Li was truly dumbfounded.

If his temperature rose again, would he really be done for?

He desperately tried to get up, and then...

Well, then he gave up.

"Forget it, life and death are fate. Maybe lying on the floor can help cool me down."

Lu Li chose to "lie flat."

No choice, he just couldn't get up.

But his body alternated between cold and hot, putting him through a lot of suffering.

It was somewhat bearable when he was hot.

At least without the blanket, the floor was damp and cool from the rain, which made him feel a bit better.

But the cold was torture; he was shivering all over.

This condition didn't last too long.

As the fever persisted, his temperature rose higher and higher.

Soon, Lu Li's consciousness began to blur.

Initially, he tried his best to stay conscious.

But the high fever was so severe, no amount of survival instinct could hold out.

Finally, after lying flat on the floor for about an hour, he fell into a coma.

Before losing consciousness, the last thought flashed through Lu Li's mind: "Damn, I just renewed my Youku membership yesterday, if I die now, that would really be a waste!"

...

In his coma, Lu Li had a strange dream.

In the dream.

He saw many chain-like things passing before his eyes.

These chains were vast and boundless, like the stars.

Every time a chain-like thing passed before his eyes, it shone with a brilliant golden light.

Even, when the golden light shone, Lu Li clearly heard a "click" as if unlocking something.

It was as if something inside his body was breaking apart.

Lu Li didn't know if it was a dream or if his body was truly shattering.

This went on for a long time.

Long enough that Lu Li felt like millions of years had passed.

When the last chain-like thing transformed into golden light, he suddenly felt clear-headed.

Not physically clear-headed.

More like a "soul" awakening.

Lu Li clearly saw a "Little Golden Man" that looked exactly like himself appear within his body.

Then, this "Little Golden Man" traveled all the way down from the top of his head.

Everywhere it went, golden light radiated brightly.

Illuminating every cell in his body with brilliance.

This "Little Golden Man" was like a "god" imprisoned within his body.

Now free, it immediately shone divine light across the realms.

It seemed to patrol its domain, from the crown of his head to the bubbling spring of his foot and stopped.

Then it ascended again, rising straight upwards.

But it didn't return to the crown of his head; instead, it stopped below his navel, finally entering a certain spot.

Soon after, a miraculous scene unfolded.

Lu Li saw that the "Little Golden Man" shone brightly like the sun.

Each cell in his body responded like stars in the night sky.

In an instant, they reflected each other.

Making his body warm and radiant with pure yang energy.

At first, Lu Li didn't notice anything.

As he continued to observe, he gradually discovered that whether it was the "Little Golden Man" or countless cells, the reason they could shine with golden light was that countless dense "lines of light" were converging within his body.

These countless "lines of light" were like electric currents, illuminating the "Little Golden Man" and the cells.

Lu Li couldn't discern what these "lines of light" actually were, he just had an instinctive feeling that they were life-sustaining energy.

Whenever the "lines of light" converged onto the "Little Golden Man," and then distributed by the "Little Golden Man" to each cell, it was almost like an assembly line.

And as the cells received these gathered "lines of light," they actually started to "transform"!

Lu Li clearly saw that the cells were being stripped of some material by the "lines of light," transformed into clouds of black mist, and expelled from his body by the "Little Golden Man."

One cell.

A hundred cells.

Hundreds of millions of cells.

All rapidly transforming under the "lines of light" controlled by the "Little Golden Man."

Finally, the "lines of light" grew weaker, and the golden light within his body also gradually dimmed.

When the last golden light on the "Little Golden Man" was extinguished, Lu Li fell into a coma again.

...

He didn't know how much time had passed.

Lu Li felt a warm sensation on his face.

He slowly opened his eyes.

What first came into view was a spider hanging on the ceiling.

He couldn't help but roll his eyes.

Seeing sunlight streaming through the window.

"Slept really well last night."

Lu Li couldn't help but yawn.

Just as he was halfway through the yawn, his eyes widened suddenly.

"Oh crap! I'm done for! I must have overslept and I'm late!"

He hurriedly jumped up from the floor, and then...

Hmm, his boxers slipped down at once.

But at this moment, Lu Li didn't care if his boxers had slipped.

He frantically picked up his phone to check.

Only to see more than a dozen messages and three or four missed calls on the screen.

The supervisor alone had sent ten messages.

And a few messages were from other colleagues.

All the missed calls were from the supervisor.

"Done for! Done for!"

Lu Li was in a tizzy.

"How could I oversleep during the period when the new boss is taking over? Now I'm going to lose my job!"

He hurriedly unlocked his phone, wanting to call the supervisor to explain and say he'd rush to the company immediately.

But as soon as he unlocked the phone, Lu Li was dumbfounded to find that it was already 3:30 in the afternoon.

In a while, it would be off work!

"Forget it, I'll explain to the supervisor at the company tomorrow."

It was too late to make amends, so Lu Li once again chose to lie flat.

Whatever happens, happens.

At worst, he'd be laid off.

He casually tossed the phone onto the bed, looked down perplexed, "Did the elastic band on my boxers break, why did they slip to my feet?"

Lu Li bent down to pull up his boxers.

When he grabbed them, he clearly felt the elastic band wasn't broken.

He didn't think much of it, casually pulled them back up, intending to freshen up, then go downstairs to grab something to eat.

But today's boxers were weird; as soon as he pulled them up to his waist and let go, they slipped down again.

"Hmm?"

Lu Li was stunned.

He realized it wasn't the boxers' problem, but that he... had lost weight?

Lu Li wasn't quite sure and lowered his head to lift his pajama shirt for a look.

The result was astonishing; he discovered that the "beer belly" he had gained due to illness had disappeared.

Not only had it disappeared, but he also had an eight-pack of abs!
