Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: On Call

Sienna Thornton's place is quite close to downtown, an old apartment built in the 1980s or 1990s, only five stories high, without an elevator, and the corridor is narrow and shabby, with dim lighting.

Auntie King, who has cared for many rich people before, got off the car and stood by the staircase with Sienna, suddenly freezing, then whispered, "Lawyer Thornton, which floor do you live on?"

"The fifth floor."

Auntie King's face turned sour, muttering, "Lawyer Thornton, living in such a place, it's hard to even go for a walk sometimes..."

Such a place?

Although Auntie King disliked the place, Sienna just raised her eyebrows imperceptibly, surprisingly didn't retort.

It was Harrison Rowe standing by the side who sternly reminded Auntie King, "Your job is to help Lawyer Thornton recover, and take good care of her daily needs, not gossip. If you don't behave, I will suggest Mr. Forrester replace you!"

A few words silenced Auntie King, while Maeve couldn't stand it, sending Harrison Rowe away.

"Auntie King, don't take it to heart, my apartment is indeed a bit old, you're right."

Sienna leaned on her crutches with difficulty, comforting Auntie King, and then turned to Maeve beside her, "That Harrison Rowe is such a stiff, Auntie King is only concerned about my recovery, is it necessary to speak so harshly?"

Maeve rolled her eyes at her, reluctantly agreeing, "Yes, it's too much, just because he has some money doesn't mean he can act high and mighty!"

"My leg, Auntie King taking care of me must be really tough, Harrison Rowe stands and speaks without any hardship, really outrageous! What? Even threatened to replace her? I won't let them succeed! Besides Auntie King, I won't accept anyone to take care of me!"

The two played along, saying things that brought tears to Auntie King's eyes, digging out her heartfelt words, continuing until Sienna was inside her home, lying comfortably on the bed without any intention of stopping.

Maeve, feeling annoyed, took some of Laura's laundry to the hospital.

Sienna actually wasn't interested in listening to Auntie King chatter, and once Maeve left, she used the excuse of being tired to have Auntie King close the door, telling her to wake her up at eight.

Eight o'clock was when Simon Forrester was returning to Brimfield.

After a week of disappearance, as the responsible party, it was about time he visited her, the patient whose leg was fractured by his large flower vase.

...

Sienna had a good sleep. After waking up, she even had a big bowl of fish soup with cordyceps.

Estimating that Simon Forrester should be out of the airport, she called Auntie King over and asked, "Do you have Mr. Forrester's contact information?"

"I don't, I only have Assistant Rhodes' number."

"Got it," Sienna nodded, then instructed, "In a while, call Harrison Rowe, say that I'm emotionally unstable and you can't handle it, ask him to get Mr. Forrester over here."

Auntie King likely wasn't new to such things, not surprised at all, quickly picking up the phone to call Harrison Rowe, using an exaggerated tone, almost crying, to describe Sienna's condition as terribly bad and frightening…

After hanging up, Sienna eagerly asked, "How was it?"

"Assistant Rhodes said Mr. Forrester just got off the plane and will come right over here."

Sienna hadn't expected Auntie King's phone call to be able to get Simon Forrester over so quickly, and immediately laughed, "Auntie King, you have quite the way with words!"

Auntie King untied her apron, sat on a stool at the foot of the bed, and started chatting, "It's not that I'm particularly eloquent, but I've encountered this kind of thing many times! The patient before you was the same, her husband ignored her, spending most of his time staying with a mistress. That lady patient would have me call her husband every day, saying she would cut her wrists or jump off a building..."

"Mm?"

The more Sienna listened, the more she felt something was off. Just as she was about to clarify to Auntie King that Simon Forrester wasn't her spouse, and she wasn't some neglected wife stuck in the cold palace, the doorbell rang.

Auntie King hurried to open the door.

"Lawyer Thornton, Mr. Forrester is here!"
