The place where they finally arrived, after a long ride on a shabby cart, was a city that seemed fairly large at first glance. Or rather, most newcomers would feel that way; in reality, it was only a medium-sized city.
"Wow…"
"Is this really the starting city?"
"The mainland is really different."
While the others gaped with wide eyes and open mouths, Lokan quietly slipped past the crowd and entered the city. Sometimes, players who escaped Pocket City together formed parties as a kind of "graduation pact," but Lokan had no intention of doing anything like that.
"Excuse me, what is the name of this city?"
Lokan stopped a passerby and asked politely. Thanks to the [Friendly] reputation from his title, the man answered with a cheerful smile.
"Haha, you must have just come from the village. This city is called Cton."
Normally, strangers might be wary or simply ignore him, but the reputation effect made people unexpectedly helpful.
Cton… Is that just a coincidence?
The destination city after leaving Pocket City was randomly assigned. Because of this, Lokan had prepared several different strategies for whichever city he might land in. Yet, by sheer chance, he had arrived at the same, familiar city he had reached in his previous life.
First things first—get a job.
After confirming his location, Lokan traced his memories and immediately headed toward the Job Guild. Unlike Pocket City, Cton contained a guild where players could select their profession. From this point onward, true gameplay began the moment one chose a class.
Conversely, anyone who failed to obtain a class would soon find themselves being hunted instead of hunting, no matter how confident they felt after fighting harmless herbivores in Pocket City. From now on, aggressive monsters would appear—creatures that attacked first and struck with far greater strength.
The only real question was which class to choose. Online forums were already buzzing with debates about which professions were powerful and which were scams. But Lokan had already made up his mind. He would follow the same path he had taken in his previous life.
He knew the pros and cons of every standard class, and he even possessed information on how to unlock several hidden ones. Yet he couldn't bring himself to pick anything else. Hidden classes weren't all-powerful; their strengths were balanced by weaknesses that could be just as glaring.
Then the best choice is the class that suits me perfectly.
Lokan's decision was firm. After all, what truly set players apart in the end were level, equipment, and titles, not simply the name of their class. He approached the Class Instructor and made his selection without hesitation.
A familiar interface appeared before him, displaying the core skills of the class he knew so well.
