Chapter 3 - What do you want??

The drive to the condo was quiet. They were yet to meet the bodyguard so there was no much talk. Mia had never really been one to talk, especially since her mom's death. The incidents following the death didn't help either.

Liam stared outside the window, a truckload of thoughts rushing through his mind. His father had warned him to avoid stirring further issues. He was scared of his father, everyone was, but the scariest was their mom. He was mommy's boy so he was usually safe but this time she'd equally warned him. He dared not disobey. He wasn't as obsessed with Mia as everyone claimed.

Mia was pretty, fragile, naive and most importantly, obedient. But she didn't really love him. She was the first girl he'd met that wasn't dreamy about him. The only reason she'd agreed to be with him was because it was her mom's dieing wish. She treated him like a duty and it only challenged him more. That was what he was obsessed about, proving himself. She was really nothing but that. He didn't know why exactly his parents were hell bent on him keeping her alive, he'd killed a few and they'd easily covered it up and besides she had nothing to her name as her father was still in a mental asylum. He sighed. His father had slapped him because of her. He felt like kicking her in the guts. He'd feel better if she'd just scream at him then he'd have an excuse to hit her.

The driver announced that they'd arrive and a guard opened the door for them. Liam sighed speaking to Mia, "While we're here it'll be better if we don't see each other often. I'll be in the club, I heard the condo has a nice club downstairs. We'll not sleep together either. I'll get a room opposite under another name. My father doesn't have to know."

Mia didn't look at him as she came down from the car. She was led in by the room by the housekeeper and the keys handed over to her.

The housekeeper offered, "There's a nice pool for relaxation, a masseuse is at your service if you need one. Dinner is served at the common room, next to the lobby. There's a club downstairs and a bar room on the second floor. Your room has an indoor steam jacuzzi and a nice view of the orchard and the couples terrace known for it's romantic features...."

The woman stopped talking as Mia looked like she needed a rest and was only listening out of politeness, "Should I order room services to get your dinner to your room." Mia replied softly, "No thanks, I'll pass for dinner and breakfast. It'll be kind of you to let me be unless there's any urgent matters." The housekeeper bowed slightly, "Ofcourse."

With the housekeeper gone, Mia forced herself to reach her room before slumping on the bed. She was exhausted and ached for some rest. Most of her injuries weren't healed and only added to her pain and she still hadn't recovered from the fever. She closed her eyes as hot tears rolled down her cheeks. She could feel her body burning up but didn't even have the strength to call for a doctor. She laid halfway on the bed with her bare legs on the cold floor, her body shivering but feeling at peace. It'd be better if she just died.

She woke up feeling someone's palm on her forehead. Out of instinct she cringed away from the touch, "Who are you?" She opened her eyes slowly to meet a young gentleman, probably as old as her standing Infront of her. He was dressed in a black vest and office white shirt and black pencil trousers.

He looked official and not like a doctor or like other guards, "I've notified Mr. Liam of your present condition and the doctor left some drugs. I expect you to take them." No one addressed Liam as Mr. Edwards as his father didn't permit it and hadn't legally named him his heir or next of kin. It was his mother's name that was there. It was part of the reason Liam was so violent. His own father hadn't seen him good enough to be heir to his dynasty.

Mia slowly sat up, "I'm fine. There was no need to call the doctor."

The gentleman chuckled, "The same words said by the young prince." He said the prince with sarcasm.

Mia ran a hand through her blonde hair, "I'm fine. Who are you and how do you have access to my room."

The gentleman smirked bowing slightly, "I'm Shawn, you're bodyguard to save you from being killed by your husband."

Mia scoffed, "Is that what Mr. Edwards told you?"

Shawn chuckled, "Not exactly but I'm not blind and I read the news."

Mia made to stand up but he advised, "You should rest and I've been told you declined dinner and tomorrow's breakfast. I've been told young ladies are all about being thin and it's in trend but I think you're thinking enough."

Mia scoffed wearing her slippers. Shawn hesitated before asking, "Pardon me but I happened to see fresh injuries that look very grotesque at your back. Were you involved in any recent accidents and why haven't you gone to a hospital?"

Mia stopped walking as she turned to face him, "You talk too much. He'll kill you if you do so. His father will only get more enraged and eventually it'll get back to me and I'll have more scars. Save me the trouble and remain mute until you're relieved of your work. And hide the scorn in your voice when you speak about him. It'll save us alot of problems." She walked into the bathroom locking herself inside.

Shawn chuckled, his eyes immediately turning mischievous as he took the house in one glance moving to a camera blind spot with natural ease. His eyes were on the door as he called, "I'm in Boss."

A cold voice answered through the phone, "Good. And don't call me while you're there. Meet me at the terrace. I'm in your car." Shawn turned off the phone immediately deleting the call record as he changed the SIM. This was getting interesting.
