Chapter 68. Utopia's Final Soar! Are the Duel Worlds Linking for Dialogue?
In the Main World.
Sei Yuki watched the two Decks being tested in the ZEXAL World with a faint smile.
"Hey, not bad, not bad."
"Both of them hit these points on their very first try with the Decks."
"That's already impressive."
"Next, I'll show them what a real Utopia explosion and a Galaxy-Eyes explosion look like."
Murmuring to himself, Sei Yuki focused on the Duel between the two.
In the ZEXAL World.
The Deck tests continued.
Kite Tenjo scraped together what resources he had and clawed out a sliver of hope.
On the field.
Kite Tenjo's field:
Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon with 3000 ATK, the Xyz-slayer that doesn't fear battles with Xyz monsters.
Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon with 3200 ATK, and with 1 Xyz Material left to pop a card next turn.
Galaxy Photon Dragon in Defense Position with 0 DEF left as insurance, in case the turn-one situation repeated.
What's more.
Kite Tenjo knew Yuma Tsukumo still had Double or Nothing! in hand.
If Galaxy Photon Dragon were in Attack Position just to greed 2000 damage.
And it couldn't finish Yuma Tsukumo off, then he'd be in danger.
By contrast, Yuma Tsukumo's field.
He had only one monster: Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray at 2500 ATK, with no materials and no equips.
A counterattack looked almost impossibly hard.
"Impressive, impressive."
"Kite, I didn't expect you to push it this far with the leftovers."
"It's a pity."
"The one who can soar to the sky in a single flight is me."
Yuma Tsukumo's eyes flashed.
The victory formula was already set in his next draw.
Yuma Tsukumo placed his hand on his Deck.
"My turn! Draw!"
"The card I drew is Onomatopaira!"
"Hahaha! I activate Onomatopaira! I discard 1 card."
"I add Dodododwarf Gogogoglove and Zubababancho Gagagacoat from my Deck to my hand."
"I Normal Summon Gogogoglove. I Special Summon Gagagacoat."
"Then I activate Gagagacoat's effect to revive Utopic Onomatopoeia from the Graveyard."
"My field of monsters is now three Level 4s."
"My field is back."
Indeed.
The moment everyone saw Yuma Tsukumo rebuild all his resources with a single card, not only the ZEXAL World,
but Duelists in the other five Duel Worlds were stunned as well.
Was this Xyz Utopia Deck a bit overtuned?
Especially that in-archetype searcher.
It not only fills the Graveyard, but also searches precisely.
With resources online like this.
Even though Yuma Tsukumo had been knocked down by 3200 and was at only 4800 Life Points, he wasn't worried at all.
In contrast, Kite Tenjo's 8000 LP looked like a candle in the wind, and everyone couldn't help getting anxious for him.
Only—
How was Yuma Tsukumo going to punch through the Xyz-slayer Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon?
In the test Duel.
Yuma Tsukumo immediately used his three Level 4s to begin Overlaying again.
Yuma Tsukumo: "I use Gogogoglove and Utopic Onomatopoeia to build the Overlay Network."
Yuma Tsukumo: "Overlay! Xyz Summon."
"The second Number 39: Utopia."
"Next! Rank-Up Xyz Summon."
"Come forth! Number S39: Utopia Prime!"
"I activate its effect. Since my LP is at least 3000 lower than my opponent's—"
"I can detach 3 Xyz Materials and pay LP until I have only 10 left to activate this effect."
"Destroy all Special Summoned monsters my opponent controls and banish them. Then inflict 300 damage for each monster banished."
"Come on! Utopia Prime!"
A do-or-die gamble.
Shark, Tori Meadows, Rio Kastle, and the others all widened their eyes, hardly daring to believe what they were seeing.
Especially when they heard the effect text at the end.
They felt like Yuma Tsukumo was playing this higher-world Deck way too crazily.
Reduce Life Points to 10.
If he couldn't finish Kite Tenjo here.
Next turn.
He would definitely die.
"Is he crazy? Has Yuma Tsukumo lost his mind? What else is even in that higher-world Utopia Extra?"
"I don't get it. But if Yuma's doing this, there has to be a reason. There must be a finishing card in the Extra."
"Let's just watch and see. Give it a moment. Yuma isn't that impulsive."
"But seriously, this higher-world Xyz Deck is insane. Look how smooth the plays are."
"....."
Among the voices around them, some were puzzled.
And of course some tried to understand.
But they weren't Yuma, and they didn't know what was in Yuma's Extra Deck right now.
Duelists in the other Worlds were thinking the same as those in the ZEXAL World at this moment.
In the Duel Monsters World.
Yugi Muto showed a puzzled expression as he watched.
"Another me? Why is this Yuma Tsukumo being so reckless?"
"Atem, think about it. Haven't we done reckless things? We once had 100 Life Points…"
After a brief exchange with the Pharaoh Atem within.
Yugi Muto relaxed at once.
So what if he had 10 Life Points.
It couldn't compare to what they had lived through.
In the GX World.
Jaden Yuki twitched at the corner of his mouth when he saw it.
"This Kite Tenjo guy is really in for it."
"He's gonna suffer now."
What Jaden Yuki cared about was not Yuma Tsukumo's 10 LP.
What he cared about was that sliver of hope Kite Tenjo had won.
Now about to be snuffed out like a flickering flame in a cold wind.
"Mm, yeah, all three monsters are blown up."
"And he takes 900 damage."
"That's a bit rough."
Alexis Rhodes nodded lightly in agreement beside him.
Besides these.
She noticed something off.
It felt like the other Duelists appearing in this live feed were also saying something about the higher world.
Very faint, but still audible.
Could it be.
That Yuma Tsukumo and Kite Tenjo weren't actually people from Sei's higher world.
Back in the ZEXAL Duel.
The scene unfolded exactly as they expected.
Kite Tenjo's three monsters were all destroyed and banished.
Because Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon was destroyed and banished.
It didn't go to the Graveyard, so it couldn't bring back Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon.
Kite Tenjo then took 900 damage.
He now had 7100 Life Points remaining.
But Yuma Tsukumo had only 10 Life Points left.
Yuma Tsukumo: "Hahaha! I'm not done yet."
Yuma Tsukumo: "I activate the on-field effect of Zubababancho Gagagacoat to bring back Utopic Onomatopoeia from the Graveyard."
"Gogogoglove's effect. Special Summon it to the field."
"I've got three Level 4s again."
"Hahaha! Feels great."
"I continue to Overlay."
"I use Gagagacoat and Gogogoglove to build the Overlay Network."
"Xyz Summon. Gagagaga Magician."
"I activate Gagagaga Magician's effect, detach Gogogoglove, and revive Number 99: Utopia Dragonar from the Graveyard."
With this Xyz completed.
Yuma Tsukumo's field of Xyz resources was already maxed out.
And the combined direct attack values of these monsters.
Far exceeded Kite Tenjo's 7100 LP.
The outcome of the Duel was obvious.
The one who ultimately soared in a single flight was Yuma Tsukumo's Utopia.
Yuma Tsukumo: "Alright—soar to the sky."
Yuma Tsukumo: "Battle Phase, direct attacks."
"Gagagaga Magician with 2000 ATK—direct attack."
"Number S39: Utopia Prime with 2510 ATK—direct attack."
"Number 99: Utopia Dragonar with 3000 ATK—direct attack."
"And finally. Utopic Onomatopoeia with 1500 ATK—direct attack."
"We did it. The victory formula succeeded."
"That was a really fun Duel."
With the final blow landed.
Kite Tenjo's Life Points dropped to 0.
The two Deck tests ended perfectly.
Yuma Tsukumo was still buzzing with excitement.
But Kite Tenjo couldn't smile.
Looking at his Galaxy-Eyes Deck.
He knew very well.
He still wasn't familiar enough. Still not proficient enough.
There were so many resources in the Extra Deck he hadn't been able to use as fully as Yuma Tsukumo.
If he could have used all of them.
Run it back.
He'd have a shot to win.
In the Main World.
Sei Yuki let out a long breath after watching the final sequence.
As expected.
That's the protagonist's aura.
The topdeck just happened to be a second Onomatopaira.
Yuma Tsukumo brute-forced the board back online.
And the Double or Nothing! in hand.
Ended up being the discard for that second Onomatopaira instead.
Looks like.
Yuma Tsukumo really does think differently.
"Phew, done and done. Test complete."
"Let's see what rewards come after finishing this software Deck test."
Stretching lazily, Sei Yuki opened the test results screen.
Besides the Duel recordings of Yuma Tsukumo and Kite Tenjo.
There was also a step-by-step log of their plays.
[Congratulations, user Sei Yuki, on completing the software Deck testing mission.]
[Congratulations, user Sei Yuki, on obtaining the World Link feature.]
[Would you like to enable dialogue connection among the DM World, GX World, 5D's World, and ZEXAL World?]
Huh.
What's that supposed to mean.
Dialogue connection.
Does it let their worlds know about other parallel worlds.
Sei Yuki opened the toggle.
Upon clicking.
A dialog popped up.
[Would you like to merge the chats of the GX World, DM World, 5D's World, and ZEXAL World?]
[Note. Once merged, the worlds can converse.]
[Further functions can be unlocked later to arrange cross-world Duels.]
Merge the chat groups.
And even arrange Duels.
Sei Yuki chuckled, finding this even more interesting.
This has to be merged.
"I choose—"
"Merge."
Once confirmed.
The four worlds' chat groups were easily combined into one large group.
The operation was simple.
And it didn't cause any special effects on its own.
But for the actual four worlds, it was different.
With one merge.
The screens connecting the four different parallel timelines began to overlap.
All voices and conversations subtly changed.
In the Duel Monsters World.
Seto Kaiba: "What's going on? What was that sound just now?"
Yugi Muto: "Not sure. Sounded like an explosion or a merge?"
Joey Wheeler: "Tch, just like the Virtual System fusing. Maybe someone's Dueling?"
Mai Valentine: "Maybe that Duel between Yuma Tsukumo and Kite Tenjo got everyone's hands itching?"
In the GX World.
Hearing Seto Kaiba, Yugi Muto, Joey Wheeler, and the others speak from the screen.
The GX Duelists, who'd been leisurely discussing Utopia and Galaxy-Eyes, all froze on the spot.
Because as they spoke.
Avatars and names of the speakers appeared around them.
Yugi Muto, spiky hair—no mistake, that's him.
Mai Valentine, long blonde curls—no mistake, that's her.
Maximillion Pegasus, white hair covering one eye—no mistake, that's him.
All of them appeared vividly on-screen.
In the 5D's World.
Yusei Fudo and the others had just finished watching that exciting Duel and were itching for a Riding Duel with Jack Atlas.
Voices from the DM World and GX World came through the duel screens between their D-Wheels.
Information on Duelists from those two worlds also appeared at that moment.
Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas were stunned on the spot.
What the heck.
Ghosts.
No.
Maybe not.
It seemed to be messages from Duelists of other Duel Worlds.
In the ZEXAL World.
Still dejected, Kite Tenjo.
And still hyped, Yuma Tsukumo.
Both quickly noticed the voices coming from other worlds.
Yusei Fudo. Yugi Muto.
Jaden Yuki. Joey Wheeler.
Who were these people, and why did they keep talking.
And what they were saying even seemed to be about the Duel between the two of them.
"Huh? What's happening? Are these higher-world people?"
"No, wait, maybe not. Look, there are tags next to their names."
"Eh? You're right. It's just like chat. The tags say DM. GX. 5D's."
"What the—spooky stuff? When I talk it seems they can hear me too, and I'm tagged ZEXAL."
Before the four worlds could react.
Sei Yuki's voice rang out in the merged group chat.
Sei Yuki: "Attention, Duelists of the DM World, GX World, 5D's World, and ZEXAL World."
Sei Yuki: "Your Duel Worlds have now been connected with a communication feature."
"From now on, you can use voice chat to ask about each other's parallel-world information."
"Note. If there's a Duelist from a world you don't like, you can block their messages."
"Additionally, you can choose to disable messages from other worlds temporarily if you prefer."
"...."
After Sei Yuki finished explaining what had happened.
Everyone across the four Duel Worlds was dumbfounded.
What in the world.
The controller from the higher world could even connect their worlds for communication.
No wonder.
No wonder so many friend-like pop-ups and avatars suddenly appeared.
So.
These people were all Duelists from other Duel Worlds.
And.
Each one was clearly labeled with which world they were from.
In the giant group chat.
Jaden Yuki couldn't hold it in after hearing this, and he immediately started talking to them.
Jaden Yuki: "Excuse me, are you the King of Games, Mr. Yugi Muto?"
Jaden Yuki: "I'm Jaden Yuki, a first-year at Duel Academy."
Yugi Muto: "I know you. I've heard you play HERO, right?"
Yusei Fudo: "Uh… can I join the chat too? Is the Duel Academy you're talking about the same as ours?"
Yuma Tsukumo: "Um, seniors? We're from the ZEXAL World, specialists in Xyz Summoning. What about you?"
Mai Valentine: "Yuma, little brother? So you were the star of that short video earlier?"
Kite Tenjo: "I'm doomed. Wait, all of you saw me lose?"
Joey Wheeler: "A-hem, yeah. Kite, little bro, it's okay. You were great."
