Chapter 3. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Fusion Card! Stumps Seto Kaiba!
"Blue-Eyes White Dragon?
A combo showcase and explanation?"
Not only the people of the VRAINS world!
At this moment, duelists from the other worlds also fixed their eyes on the big screen and that brief title.
Under gazes full of curiosity, confusion, oddness, and excitement,
Sei Yuki of the main world suppressed the impulse to keep scrolling.
He hadn't been very interested in the earlier tutorial videos.
But as a diehard Dragon-deck fan, and a Seto Kaiba fan on top of that,
he finally showed an intrigued expression.
"Blue-Eyes White Dragon, huh?
Let's see how this person explains Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
Hopefully I can learn something!"
After muttering to himself, Sei Yuki began watching the Blue-Eyes White Dragon combo explainer in earnest.
In the first few seconds,
it started by introducing the main Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck construction.
For this,
Sei Yuki didn't feel much of anything.
After all, when introducing a deck,
people basically start from the list and then state their views.
But for the other dueling worlds—
especially the Duel Monsters world—
for Seto Kaiba, the user of Blue-Eyes White Dragon,
even this alone made his eyes go blank with shock.
"What is this?
You call this Blue-Eyes White Dragon?
Why shove in so many cards that make no sense?"
"That's not even the worst of it!
Did you see the Extra?
There are black cards and white cards!
What the heck are those? (Xyz and Synchro)"
"Absurd!
My rating for this build is a pile of crap!
Our President's Blue-Eyes is still the strongest!"
"Hold on!
Maybe it's not that simple.
This live feed very likely isn't from our world!"
...
The voices of the duelists and KC staff behind him quickly brought Seto Kaiba back to his senses.
Indeed.
This deck construction was hard to comprehend—
borderline inconceivable.
Setting aside the Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards in the build,
the other cards,
like "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring," "Maxx 'C'," "Bystial Magnamhut," and so on—
even Seto Kaiba—KaibaCorp President and Blue-Eyes expert—
couldn't make sense of this mysterious list.
And that wasn't all.
The Extra Deck blew up his worldview even more.
In Duel Monsters,
since when were there black-rimmed and white-rimmed cards?
Wasn't the Extra Deck only Fusion Monsters?
Ritual Monsters aren't even placed in the Extra!
What on earth is going on?
"Kaiba!
So this isn't our KC duel livestream, right?"
Yugi Muto and the others had already arrived at Seto Kaiba's side.
Staring at the eerie video feed,
they all felt a chill.
"Yeah.
Yugi, let's keep watching and we'll know."
Seto Kaiba shrugged.
And the man's voice in the video rang out across the entire KC venue.
The Bride Is Mine: "After the list, next up is single-card introductions and combo breakdowns."
The Bride Is Mine: "For the two-card hand-trap package—'Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring' and 'Maxx 'C''—I won't belabor it. Run three copies each."
The Bride Is Mine: "As for the main axis, I'm running a partial Blue-Eyes Synchro package plus the mainline Blue-Eyes Fusion package."
The Bride Is Mine: "Of course, on the Xyz side, the Rank 8 package is support, not the core. The focus is still Fusion and Synchro!"
...
On screen,
the video blogger called "The Bride Is Mine" spoke at length.
For Sei Yuki, it was all still understandable.
But duelists in the Duel Monsters world, the GX world, and the 5D's world were already completely lost.
ARC-V and VRAINS weren't as out of step,
so duelists in those two worlds could understand a bit more.
The Bride Is Mine: "Next is the Fusion package!
Let's keep going, starting with the relevant cards!"
After that,
the big screen displayed Blue-Eyes White Dragon's Fusion-related monsters.
First up was Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon!
[Card Name: Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon (Level 10)]
[Attribute: LIGHT]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 3000/2500]
Has battle-destruction protection—cannot be destroyed by battle.
Two consecutive strikes—during a single Battle Phase, it can attack monsters up to twice.
If it can't beat them, it can banish—activate at the end of the Damage Step!
The wild part: the banish doesn't target.
Just this one card
already drew the eyes of Seto Kaiba and the other duelists—
including other diehard Dragon-deck fans.
But that was only a quick pass.
The emphasis was the other Fusion Monster the blogger introduced next to it—
[Card Name: Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon (Level 12)]
[Attribute: LIGHT]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 4500/3800]
"Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon?"
"If it were just that—
Wait!"
"Something's off!"
"Neo?
Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon?"
Seto Kaiba, who had been smirking in disdain, jolted.
His pupils contracted as he snapped his focus onto Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon's effect.
Other diehard Dragon-deck fans were struck dumb, staring blankly at this Fusion Monster.
What is this?!
An effect-bearing Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!!!
Since when did the three Blue-Eyes vanilla Fusion monsters
gain effects???
How did we not know this?
And what really broke them
was what the effect meant.
If there are no other face-up cards on your field,
you can send 1 "Blue-Eyes" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck to the Graveyard to activate—
this card can continue attacking.
You can use this up to twice per turn.
Three consecutive strikes.
Each for 4500!
In a 4000 LP environment,
who can possibly survive???
