Chapter 2 - The Girl With Diamond Eyes

Chapter 2: The Girl With Diamond Eyes

A week had passed since the night under the stars.

Since Elira let her guard down.

Since Zayn whispered, "I don't want to lose you."

They were in bed that time having an intamate moment

Since everything started to feel... real.

But life has a way of testing fragile hearts.

Elira waited outside the school gates, her fingers cold around the strap of her backpack. Zayn said he'd walk her home today. He always did lately even when she said he didn't have to.

But today, he was late.

Mia passed by, waved, then gave her a confused look. "He's not with you?"

"No," Elira said, checking her phone. No messages.

Weird.

That's when a sleek black car rolled up in front of the school.

And stepped out... a girl.

No a storm in heels and designer perfume.

Long straight hair, perfectly done nails, and a confidence that screamed money.

She glanced around, spotted someone, then strutted across the yard.

Zayn.

He was leaning against the back wall, hands in pockets. He looked... different. Distant.

The girl walked straight up to him, hugged him tightly.

Elira froze.

They talked, laughed, Zayn didn't push her away.

She tilted her head, whispered something and Zayn smiled.

Smiled.

Elira turned away, her heart sinking.

She knew who that was.

Lyra Sanderson.

The daughter of Zayn's father's business partner. The one he once told her was "annoying, fake, and not my type."

Apparently, types changed.

Zayn didn't show up the next day.

Or the day after that.

When Elira finally saw him again, it was in the hallway, surrounded by his usual admirers and Lyra, hanging off his arm like she belonged there.

He looked up, saw her.

Their eyes met.

And then... he looked away.

Elira clenched her fists.

No explanation. No message. No apology.

He just dropped her like she meant nothing.

The week that followed was a blur. Elira couldn't focus in class. She skipped lunch. Mia begged her to talk, but Elira just smiled and said, "I'm fine."

But she wasn't.

She was late. Her cycle.

And the test she took behind locked bathroom doors confirmed it.

Positive.

She was pregnant.

Zayn's child.

The world felt like it spun out of orbit.

How could he smile at Lyra while she carried his baby?

That night, she called his number. It rang but he didn't answer.

She texted.

"Zayn, I need to talk to you. Please. It's important."

Seen.

No reply.

Elira dropped the phone and broke down.

She was alone.

And somehow, she had to survive this.

Not just for herself.

But for the little life growing inside her.
