Chapter 149Sonia's POV
Xavier's smile was slow, almost dangerous, like he knew exactly what I was thinking.He reached out,his fingers were warm against my skin as he tilted my chin up. His touch was gentle but commanding as he tilted my face toward the light streaming through the window. His thumb traced the edge of my jaw, his grip firm but light. Then he leaned in, close enough that I could smell his scent, cedarwood and rain, and turned my head so the sunlight hit my neck.
The mark glistened under the pale morning light. His eyes locked on it, a flicker of satisfaction crossing his face before something softer, almost tender, took over. His thumb grazed the fresh punctures.
"Does it still hurt?" His voice was low and gentle.
I swallowed and shook my head. "No… Not anymore."
A beat of silence stretched between us, thick and awkward. The weight of last night pressed on me like a heavy blanket. My heart thudded against my ribs, every second stretching longer than it should.
