Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Nice to Meet You

In the boundless universe, the Tree of Illusion towers in the void. Opposite it lies the fathomless ocean of quantum physics.

They repel one another, unable to merge—yet they remain bound together like yin and yang.

From the Tree of Illusion, countless world-bubbles drift downward, each destined to fall into the quantum sea. For those worlds, such a descent is death: once swallowed, they vanish without a trace.

And yet, within this devouring ocean, one fragile bubble resists. Encased in a thin "eggshell," it clings to survival, defying the darkness around it.

This is the False Heaven.

Tenri had only just triumphed over the Nibelungen. Though he reclaimed the dragon race's power, his body was torn with grievous wounds.

Below him lay Teyvat—ravaged by war, scarred by the Abyss. He longed to mend it, yet the destruction was so vast that even he, the ruler of the Heavenly Principles, felt powerless.

The Nibelungen he had repelled had touched the Abyss, becoming a descendant with strength to rival his own. Even so, Tenri prevailed, casting down the Dragon Kings.

But victory came at a ruinous cost.

Teyvat—the world he had nurtured for ages—was near collapse. The laws of Sky Island lay shattered. The Abyss spread unchecked. Left alone, the land would soon perish.

Tenri was broken, his Four Kages gravely weakened. They could barely uphold the False Sky, let alone restore the world.

Then the impossible occurred.

The earth trembled. The primordial fragments and abyssal power unleashed in battle sank into the veins of the land.

And the veins began to heal.

Elemental power surged forth like lifeblood:

Rock drew fractured mountains back together.

Water revived desiccated seas.

Wind swept away the stench of ruin.

Grass coaxed new life from barren soil.

Lightning cut down rampaging abyssal spawn.

Fire offered shelter to the displaced.

Ice calmed the flames of war.

In an instant, hope flickered in the broken world.

Tenri's eyes widened.

"When did the earth's veins gain such power? How can they absorb the Abyss? How can fragile elemental forces achieve what I cannot?"

As he struggled to comprehend, a voice echoed:

"Who are you?"

The ground glowed. Elemental light converged, taking shape before him.

A young man emerged—white-robed, handsome, his eyes shifting with seven hues. His aura shook even Tenri's heart, for the world itself seemed to turn around him.

"Another one?" Tenri clenched his fist, nearly striking. But his wounds weighed heavy, and the youth's overwhelming presence urged caution.

"I am—" he began.

The boy tilted his head, puzzled.

"Who I'am...?

The question stunned him. Relief soon followed—this was no enemy.

Tentatively, Tenri reached out with his senses. What he found shook him further.

This being was of the same essence as Teyvat itself. The aura of elemental renewal flowed from him.

"Could this be… the world's own consciousness?"

Tenri had heard myths of such things, but always dismissed them. Yet here it stood, undeniable. If true, Teyvat itself had awakened.

And perhaps, this could be salvation.

"You are the world's consciousness," Tenri declared. "I am Tenri of Teyvat. I propose a contract: you shall heal and sustain this land, and in return, I will grant you freedom from the chains of fate."

His voice carried the weight of command.

The boy, dazed, nodded.

"All right… the contract is done."

"Good. Fulfill your duty. Should you need guidance, my Four Shadows will aid you."

The boy hesitated.

"Then… what is my name?"

Tenri thought a moment.

"You are the consciousness of Teyvat. From this day forth, you shall be called… Yuanshen."

Something flickered in the boy's eyes at the word, like a memory just out of reach. Still, he accepted.

"Then… please take care of me."

At once, Yuanshen turned to his task, weaving elemental law into the broken veins of the earth.

And as the Natural Law reached its limit, Tenri withdrew to Sky Island, where a long slumber awaited him.

Thus, with Yuanshen's birth, the fate of Teyvat was forever changed.
