One afternoon, the usual bullies cornered me behind the gym.

A fist was raised. I braced for the blow. "Leave him alone."
It was Ryuchi — Ryuchi Kamizawa. The school's golden boy. Handsome. Brilliant. Loved by everyone. The son of a famous psychologist.
Rumor said he could predict every possible outcome of an event.
The bullies froze. Then ran. Without a word. Strange. Ryuchi turned to me, hand outstretched. "Come on. Let's get out of here." That day, Ryuchi became my only friend. For two months, he was my lifeline. The only one who treated me like a person. I thought everything would be fine now. That I could live a normal life again.
