"When would I be
allowed to go home?" Hassan asked for what seemed like the thousandth time "I am
so tired of confined spaces" he added
"Mr. Hassan do
you believe in God?" Alvaria asked, more into her thoughts than she was at his complains
"Huh?"
"I'd take it as you don't" she said
"Mr. Job believed
in God, what did he get?..." He asked
"What is it with Men and thinking God owes them" she
snapped, Hassan was startled, "so you'd rather have an empty life with no God than
a filled one with him?" She threw back at him but still maintaining a steady voice
"Mr. Alao, no amount of therapy or drug would save you the way Jesus would"
she continued as her gaze fell on his wrist
"so now what?
We've moved from God to Jesus?" it was his time to be angry "What next?" he asked
"oh wait let's me guess" he continued even before she had a chance to answer
"The Holy Spirit?" he said and stared hotly
at Alvaria who was just throwing silence words to the air, she didn't expect his
outburst
She looked at
him with what felt like pity but really she just felt guilt for playing a sensitive
card, she should know better, she was once into self harm herself

"Bird report for
update, over!" the radio she held buzzed out
"cleared, over!" she responded as she pressed the radio,
walking back to where she was initially sitting
"Canon, report
with an update, Over!" she said into the radio after some minutes but got no response,
she repeated a few more times but got the same response…silence
"Stay close to
me" she ordered as she opened the door, Hassan literally flew down the bed
he was laying on
"Wh…. What?" "What's
going on?" he panicked "I thought this was a safe base" he continued to press
But instead Alvaria brought out her gun, clicked it and
started got the door
"Aren't we supposed
to like run away and not towards danger?" he whispered as he followed closely behind,
Alvaria observed cautiously as they walked, hiding behind edges and her Gun professionally
handled
. "Cannon?" Alvaria called out to the bodies that
laid right before the control room "We've
been breached" she shouted into her radio as she examined the monitors that
had been broken "I repeat we've been breached, Over!" in one quick motion, she held
Hassan by the wrist and guided them out of the room down the stairs
"ouch….." Hassan
cried out but didn't dare release his arm from her solid grip
The first shot missed him by an inch, literally
"Oh God" he panicked as Alvaria pulled him on time
into hiding
"Now you believe in God?" she asked in a low voice as she
prepared to fire, just then another shot came from the opposite side
"Jesus Christ!"
Hassan screeched "Am I a triplet now or what?" he said as he followed Alvaria closely
out the door, they were on the run with shots being fired
"Alpha base"
she spoke into the radio "Alpha base, send help, over!" she repeated and was met
with whooshing sounds
"He just wants
me" Hassan whispered under his heavy breathes
"What?"
"Leave me here and try to save yourself" he continued
as he bumped into her
Alvaria stared in dismay, wondering if anyone could ever
be more stupid, just as she was about to respond, she noticed a quick movement and
shot at it, hoping she had a clear shot
"Duck!" she shouted
as she pushed Hassan to the side and shoot at the other attacker "Run" she
commanded and motioned towards the exit, she kept her gun up and her guard even
higher as she followed

. "Bird, Cannon,
Over!" The responder at base kept repeating but all he got were also whooshing sound
"update?" Chief
asked as he strolled in
"Nothimg Chief"
one of the responders responded in Alarm "it seems our communication has been jammed"
he added
"Send in the closest
agent to the base" he ordered, picking up his phone that had been ringing for
a while "Yes?" he spoke first
"My car just blew
up" Lucian coughed from the other end of the phone, "you were right…"
Chief rolled his
eye balls, when was I ever wrong he thought
"I'm not safe" Lucian continued
"Mr. Lucian get out out of where you are and find your
way to base" Chief suggested "My team is currently under attack, I don't want
to be forced to choose…."
"Okay" Lucian cut him short and ended the call
"if he thinks
he can butcher the members of my team and expect to go about drinking freedom, he
better be prepared" Chief said to himself as he pulled a chair to sit

"We are so fucking
dead" Hassan said as they watched their escape car blow up
"God?" Alexa cried as she fired shots behind them with
precision, "Run out the gate I'd cover you" she said
Hassan looked at her for a few seconds with admiration
before he obeyed
"Such a woman"
he told himself as he reached the gate, as if on cue a cab drove in front of the
gate
"Get In"
the driver called out
"what took
you so long?" Alvaria was out too she opened
the back door and pushed Hassan inside while she settled for the empty seat in the
front
"Recovery Team Update, we got them, over" Another
man who they had not noticed at first said into his radio
"And Alvaria?"
Chief asked from the other end
"I'm right here chief" she said and exhaled in relief
