Chapter 100 - Chapter 100: My Sister's Secret

Chapter 100: My Sister's Secret

"Brother, I want to become a Beyonder too."

Cecilia said earnestly to Lu Ze.

However, upon hearing his sister's resolve, Lu Ze seemed a little hesitant.

Of course, it wasn't due to any dark thoughts, not wanting his sister to be better off. It was just that after coming into contact with this Beyonder world, he had already realized how much danger, despair, and madness lay hidden behind the power of a Beyonder.

Rather than embarking on a path of no return, Lu Ze wanted his sister to live a safe and happy life.

Lu Ze thought for a moment, and just as he was about to speak softly to his sister, he suddenly felt eyes on them from elsewhere. He turned to look aside, only to see Ms. M watching the Longdaoer siblings' conversation with great interest. She rested her chin on a hand adorned with a red rose ring, her golden eyes fixed on them unblinkingly.

Almost forgot about this one.

"My sister and I are about to have a heart-to-heart. Could you please leave for a while?"

Lu Ze said coldly.

"Of course, if you ask that way. But don't forget, even if I leave here, I will still be watching you."

Ms. M lightly tapped her Sun temple.

"Watch all you want, just don't sit here. Seeing you here will affect our mood."

Lu Ze said impolitely.

"Alright then."

Ms. M got up indifferently and walked to the guest room on the second floor.

It wasn't until her figure entered the Door that Lu Ze withdrew his gaze. He knew this was a bit of self-deception, but having a sincere conversation with his sister while being watched by Ms. M would make the atmosphere somewhat strange.

"Listen, Cecilia."

He pulled Cecilia, making her sit beside him, and then said earnestly, "Regarding your desire to become a Beyonder, I still have the same attitude as before; I hope you make your decision cautiously."

"Don't be swayed by that madwoman's nonsense. Becoming a Beyonder doesn't just grant strange abilities; it brings more loss of control and danger, and a life far from normal people."

Since becoming a Secrets Supplicant, Lu Ze had encountered various unexpected incidents. If he hadn't been lucky enough, and had external support, he would have died countless times already. He naturally had a shadow over becoming a Beyonder, and consequently, he didn't want his sister to enter this world either.

Even official Beyonders would have their freedom restricted. Nighthawks, for example, were generally stationed to guard a specific area. To leave their current city, they had to apply in advance, not to mention the various inconveniences in their later lives.

"But Brother, I don't want to be a burden."

Cecilia held Lu Ze's hand.

Her grip on Lu Ze was tight, the touch somewhat rough and hard, not soft and delicate like an ordinary girl's. Lu Ze knew this was because she had taken care of his crazed self day after day, doing too much strenuous work. His heart softened again, but he quickly noticed something amiss.

Strange, Cecilia's grip is a bit too tight; she seems to be hinting at something.

Do her words have another meaning?

Could it be that my sister has already guessed that I am preparing to fight Ms. M to the death? Is the reason she wants to become a Beyonder to participate in the battle between Ms. M and me, to help me?

It's very possible, because Cecilia knows Lu Ze's personality very well. She knows that Lu Ze wouldn't just wait for death; even if it meant a mutual destruction, he would try to resist the enemy to the end.

She actually wants to fight Ms. M, this silly girl, is she looking for death!

"No!"

Lu Ze, anxious, immediately glared and shouted, "You are not a burden, and you don't need to force yourself to drink the potion. This world has too many dangers; you will die! I absolutely forbid it!"

Because Ms. M was listening, he couldn't be too obvious, only subtly warning his sister not to get involved in his fight with Ms. M. He didn't want to see his sister die because of him.

Since his transmigration, this was the first time Lu Ze had gotten angry at Cecilia. His voice was a bit loud, and his expression must have been quite ferocious.

Cecilia stared at him blankly, her clear blue eyes blinked, and suddenly, tears began to fall. Large, crystal-clear tears, like pearls, continuously flowed, silently and swiftly tracing her delicate face, down her cheeks to her rounded chin, and then dripping down.

She neither cried out nor sobbed, but just quietly looked at Lu Ze, her face streaked with tears.

"Don't cry, don't cry."

Lu Ze immediately panicked, hastily reaching out to wipe away his sister's tears. A wave of guilt washed over him, overriding his anxiety, leaving him somewhat flustered, "I wasn't trying to scold you. Sister, I mean, I'm not afraid of death. I just hope that if something truly unexpected happens, at least you will survive."

This was his sincere wish, without a trace of falsehood.

A good girl like Cecilia, so kind-hearted and beautiful, should have been granted a happy life by Heaven. Instead of enduring hardship with a half-mad brother as she was now, finally having a few days of peace, only to be forced into the threat of cultists. If Lu Ze couldn't defeat Ms. M, he at least hoped his sister could be saved.

"Brother, do you still remember Mother's funeral?"

Cecilia asked, wiping away her tears. Her eyes were red, making her look incredibly pained.

Lu Ze searched his memories but found nothing, so he could only shake his head.

"Father passed away, and Mother soon died too. After the funeral, the only relative I had left in this world was you," Cecilia said. "From then on, I swore to the Goddess that I would live on with you, no matter what difficulties we encountered, we would get through them together."

"You certainly did."

Lu Ze nodded, genuinely admiring the girl's strong will.

"No."

Tears quickly welled up in Cecilia's eyes again. "I broke my vow! Brother, after that, days passed, your illness showed no improvement, the money in the house grew less and less, and I couldn't earn many pennies. Finally, I sold the furniture, sold Father's pocket watch and Mother's jewelry, rented a place near the Lower Street, and still had to take care of you every day, cook, wash clothes, and work. I was truly too tired, I couldn't hold on!"

"Later, during the hardest times for our family, when I saw you go mad, I even thought, 'What if I just kill you and then myself? Wouldn't that be liberation?'"

Cecilia cried, her face showing a mix of relief and atonement, "If we hadn't been taken in by Siris later, and so many things happened, and your illness was cured, perhaps we would have already died together in the Lower Street!"

"So Brother, you don't have to be so good to me; you don't know what I almost did to you! Every day since, my heart has been uneasy."

"That night after the play, I wanted to tell you everything and let you scold me harshly. But because she came, my last chance vanished. I could only keep it bottled up, suffering the whole time!"

After saying all this, Cecilia covered her face and burst into tears!
