Dust flakes floated lazily in the silent wind. The distant clutter of birds buzzed through the thick forest underneath the golden light of hope, and in the centre of the settling dust, a cave-in and beside it, heartbeats synchronised with ragged breaths.
"Mann... for a sec I thought we were gonna be buried alive back there, Draco said, brushing his hair backwards with his butt lying flat on the floor.
Jayden supported himself on Draco's shoulder while battling for oxygen in the dust-filled space.
"Come on, let's get outta here before things become worse."
Draco scoffed, "You don't have to tell me that!"
Jayden gave him a hand up, and they began walking out, supporting each other's shoulders.
"Was your cultivation any better off?"
Draco looked at his hand while feeling the differences in his stats.
