Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Masked Informant

The first light of dawn filtered through the city streets, casting a soft glow over the rooftops. Mukul and his five allies—Meera, Anaya, Kavya, Saira, and Liyana—made their way to a quiet café tucked in a narrow lane. Rumours had led them here: a mysterious informant claimed to have knowledge about the black-suited network threatening the city.

"Quiet place," Mukul murmured. "Good for conversation… and maybe traps."

Kavya smirked, leaning against a wall. "You think there's ever a trap without you thinking about it?"

Anaya rolled her eyes. "Better safe than sorry. Keep your focus, Mukul."

Saira glanced around, calm as ever. "We must trust our instincts. The informant may be genuine—or a test."

Liyana twirled a dagger absentmindedly. "Or maybe someone wants to see how charming you can be under pressure."

Mukul chuckled. "Let's hope I survive without blushing too much."

Inside the café, a figure in a dark cloak and a silver mask waited. The mask reflected the morning light, hiding identity, expression, and intent.

"You're early," the masked figure said, voice smooth yet neutral. "Most don't have courage—or sense—to come alone. Or with five companions, I suppose."

Mukul exchanged a glance with the women. "We don't walk alone. We trust each other, and we move as one."

The figure tilted their head. "Interesting. Loyalty, trust, and strategy… I like that. But do you understand the stakes? The network you face is far-reaching. Alliances, betrayals, and deception will test every bond you have."

Meera's eyes narrowed. "We've survived before. We'll survive now."

Kavya leaned forward. "And we're not scared of a little intrigue."

The masked informant handed Mukul a small, folded note. "Inside is information you'll need. Locations, targets, and patterns. But beware: not everything is as it seems. Trust is earned… even among allies."

Mukul unfolded the note, scanning quickly. The details were precise, dangerous, but actionable. His mind raced, already plotting strategy and defences.

Saira leaned close. "We'll analyse this together. Patterns, strengths, weaknesses—we cover all angles."

Liyana smirked. "And maybe have some fun while we're at it."

Anaya added, "This is a test—not just for him, but for all of us. Coordination and trust will decide our success."

Kavya glanced at Mukul, teasing. "See? Looks like your charm isn't useless after all. If nothing else, you made five women stick with you through every danger."

Mukul smiled, feeling warmth spread through his chest. The bond wasn't just about survival—it was trust, friendship, and something deeper.

The masked figure took a step back. "Remember, danger lurks in every shadow. And not all allies are who they seem. Use what I've given you wisely."

With a final nod, the figure slipped out of the café, disappearing into the morning crowd.

Mukul glanced at the women around him. Each was alert, prepared, and unshakably loyal. Together, they represented more than strength—they were a circle of trust, strategy, and unspoken affection.

"We'll follow this lead," Mukul said. "But we move carefully. Every step counts."

Meera nodded. "And we'll face whatever comes—together."

Kavya grinned. "Sounds like adventure. Count me in."

Saira's calm voice reminded him, "Trust, strategy, and loyalty—these are the keys."

Liyana winked. "And don't forget charm. You've got that too."

Mukul laughed, feeling a sense of readiness and purpose. The masked informant had provided a key piece, but the real power with them—the bond they shared, their skills, and their courage.

The dragon's golden roar echoed faintly in his mind, a reminder that destiny, danger, and bonds of trust would guide their path. Together, they were ready.
